Google Maps: Pokémon Challenge

Dozens of wild Pokémon have taken up residence on streets, amidst forests and atop mountains throughout Google Maps.

To catch 'em all, grab your Poké Ball and the newest version of Google Maps for iPhone or Android. Then tap the search bar, "press start," and begin your quest.

And, follow Google Maps on Google+, Facebook or Twitter for hints and tips for the most dedicated trainers.

Is Nintendo doing this as a test to move
onto cell phones or somethin?

Or perhaps Nintendo is doing as they said and expanding their characters to new partners and decided to let people have a laugh and some fun. They have also talked about taking advantage of the mobile market (not by releasing games but to expand upon the popularity of handhelds) and what better way to do than integrate Pokemon into a popular app everybody has on their phone.

Either Google Maps is messed up atm or Pokemon are extinct in 99.999% of the world. I hit the start button and it zooms over to Palo Alto. The rest of the planet is completely desolate.

First, you have to be zoomed in enough to see the pokemon. Most show up when the zoom distance is set to 1000ft. But yes, most of the world is pokemon-less

Second, the biggest concentration areas are the cities which were used to base the game maps off of.

And for some reason Sydney AUS. I found like 4-5 there, lol. In Japan though I found a Pokemon style house with like 6 Pokemon near it in one of the cities, I think Tokyo
