NBA 07 Review

It can be difficult to measure the worth of a ported title to a newer, more powerful console. Inevitably, people will make comparisons to the previous version, gauging if the transition to the new system is any better (or different) than the original game or if any glitches or bugs have been fixed between versions. Most importantly, fans will want to know if they're missing anything by not buying the game again. In Sony's case, their first party basketball title, NBA 07 came out less than two months ago on the PS2 and PSP, and it's helping to lead the charge onto the basketball court for the PS3. But is this version of Sony's basketball title any better now that it's made the leap into the next generation, or should this game be benched for poor play?

Better than I thought it would be. The online features are definitely innovative, but I don't the gameplay has improved enough to warrant a purchase. Maybe next years will be even more improved.

andy capps7120d ago

Honestly, the game sounded pretty boring until I got to the part where they'll be adding 5 new scenarios a week based on some signature plays during the week in NBA games. That is interesting, and may actually have me renting a sports title. I'm still not much for the plastic looking characters in next-gen video games.

Grown Folks Talk7120d ago

hope the final version plays better than the demo.

lol both console beat the 360's launch by far. there are alot of exclusives launching with each console. i think i would get the ps3 with resistance, motorstrom, gthd, full auto2 and maybe fear.

for the wii i would get zelda, red steel and excite truck.

SjaakHaas7155d ago

Wow you just named half of the exclusives on the PS3! is het niet geweldig?

Daytona7155d ago

Lets see the ps3 has been in development just as long as the 360 yet it takes until now release and you wanna brag? What an friggin fool u r.

That's not somehing to brad about, it's like the ps3 is the slower, mildly retarded brother, so yeah be happy for that I guess.

D R Fz7155d ago

both ps3 and wii have a good line-up which we can all agree is a good thing for us gamers. And with gears of war coming out and the ps3 and wii launching in Nov., i might have to drop out of nyu and forget the whole medicine thing. The Gift and Curse of the next-gen.

kewlkat0077155d ago

There is nothing in the PS3's lineup that screams come buy. As far as the Wii's Zelda, You know your getting a great game after months of delays.

On the PS3 hmm..( Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom , Mobile Suit Gundam: Target In Sight,) I would wanna play. All the other games are either mediocure or will be on the 360.

So as of right now I don't see why I would pay $600+ for the PS3. No anticipation with any of these games besides COD3, Rainbow Six: Vegas. I'm not too exctited for all the other titles form the Wii cause I'm not sure how the contoller will play out. I just wanna play zelda for now.

D R Fz7155d ago

And you do know that both verions will have very similar graphics, right? Have you even played Zelda for wii yet? If not, how do you personally know that it is great game? Have you played any of the games coming out for the ps3? If not, how do you know that they are mediocre? Putting fanboyism aside for a second, you must agree that do not know anything about how any ps3 or wii title is going to pleasure us until we play the title on the conosole.

ChaosKnight7155d ago

Those are pretty good lineups, the only thing for the ps3 that may hurt it is the fact there is only 7 of those games that are exclusives. Also i heard Ninja Gaiden is coming out early next year, and Fight night is in December now.

But really they're pretty good

blackmagic7155d ago (Edited 7155d ago )

Hmmm... as much as I'd like to believe in these lists, I know there will be titles pushed. Just like for the 360, when we get within about 2-3 weeks several titles will be delayed.

Heck, Fight Night Round 3 was already delayed from Nov.17 until Dec.12 and it's a port!

btw, shouldn't this be in the ps3 section?

THAMMER17155d ago (Edited 7155d ago )

That is a good launch window. A really good launch window for real. I wonder how many are confirmed.

D R Fz7155d ago

That is a rather large amount of games for the launch window. Now i just need to hear more info on the online aspect of the ps3 and it will be a nearly flawless launch for me.

andy capps7155d ago

Yeah it is, and that's good news, but I wouldn't take that list as the 100% truth. Unless they've confirmed all of those anyway. SCEJ confirmed that Motorstorm is being released in November (or maybe it was December), so that is wrong if that is released at the same time in America. Supposedly all of the languages are on the same Blu-ray disc so I would assume that it would be released at roughly the same time as in Japan. That may or may not be correct, but I would think that the launch games are probably correct since they've probably been told by the publishers what the deal is. The ones beyond that may just be guess work.

Have you been converted to the Sony side or are you just giving some props to the launch lineup? :) I agree that it is a good launch lineup, but I just didn't expect that from you.

bizzy127155d ago

nothing stand out on that list that say buy a ps3.its even multiplat games or whats all ready out on the 360 no ofence.plus every game on 360 surport live i dont no a bout ps3 online half tho games on the list dosent have on line features.

sparco7155d ago

I have to aggree with you there m8. Except that Resistance looks pretty good. But still, it aint enough to make me buy a PS3. 1 thing i have to disaggree with is that every 360 game supports Live. Hitman didn't. It didn't even have it on the box.

ORIELKILLER7155d ago

yea it looks way better then the PS2 launch ... ( FANTAVISION ) i hated that game but this one looks way better

THAMMER17155d ago

People who one bloth systems will have some hard chioices to make when it comes to multi platform games.

Get achivements or not. On line game play or not. Free demos or not.

D R Fz7155d ago

but when more details on sony's online capabiliities are released, online gameplay and achievements will be something to look forward to on both consoles regardless of the game.

andy capps7155d ago

Well, some of the multi-platform releases have online gameplay, some don't. There have been rumors about an equivalent of achievement points on the Playstation's online service as well as demos, but they haven't released all the info on that yet to the public. It also depends on if people want to pay a yearly or monthly fee for the privilege of playing against their friends online. Xbox live you have to do that, Sony's games you won't, with the exceptions of if there are any MMO's like Everquest or WoW.

But yeah, there are still some questions about the Playstation's online service because they haven't released all the details, so if online was your main priority and that's all you cared about and didn't care about paying for it, then yeah, Xbox Live would probably be best for you. I consider multiplayer a bonus, but I prefer more the experience of the single player aspects of the game. Co-op is another story though. :)

CAPS LOCK7155d ago

is great. it is much better than the 360 launch, but where is motorstorm and resistance?
