N4G stopped caring about Titanfall after they realized it wasn't coming to the PS4. (Which was a couple of hours after launch.)

It was worth it. I felt like disagreeing.

Audiggity4422d ago

I like that you're using that for your comments... I agree, the phantom 'disagreers' and 'down bubblers' need to start validating their negativity.

GentlemenRUs4422d ago

@Audiggity
I'm just waiting for N4G to change the whole comment system, So I shove it at the end of every single comment :P

A point needs to be made with these people and I am finally calling them out on it.

Still far and away the most points of any game on N4G! I'm still playing it hardcore. Love it.

i'm loving the game and find it fantastic that Respawn is working hard ( and rather quickly) to fix the issues that need addressing. Good work Respawn!!

Great update... Reminds me of the way Halo2 used to work... I still don't understand why halo2's system didn't become the norm...

Anyway, this should go a long way towards making matches more competitive. Sometimes it would feel like I was stuck playing against teams way above or way below my teams skill level.

Audiggity4422d ago

Me and a buddy went through a few matches the other night, it was like a meat grinder. I think the other team was a group of pro-gamers, it was hilariously frustrating, we were ruined.

Volkama4422d ago

I'm on the fence about skill-based matchmaking. On the one hand it should keep games competitive, which is good. Dominating a weak team can get tedious, and being that weak team is worse.

But on the other hand it kind of breaks the natural metagame of practicing to get better. Your reward for getting better should be more kills, more victories, better ranking on the scoreboard. That's intuitive and just how you expect things to work.

If a skill based matchmaking actually works well then you will never feel that improvement. You will always be about as good as the players around you.

I think the old Xbox method of "ranked matches" and "practice matches" worked best, as it gave you the option of skill-based competitive games or just seeing how you stack up against whoever happens to be playing. Just change the name from "practice" to "free" or "open".

mhunterjr4422d ago (Edited 4422d ago )

I don't think it breaks the meta game of practicing to get better, if done right, it enhances it.

It doesn't neccisarily mean that you'll only play against teams that are equal in skill, it means that the game will recognize when you play against someone who is better/worse than you, then adjust your relative skill ranking according to how you fair.

On top of that, matches are made based on the overall skill of the team. If a less skilled player is in a party with skilled players, he'd likely get matched against more skilled players. As the game notices his worth increasing in these matches, he his skill ranking would climb.

Back in the days of Halo2, it was folks had no problem practicing to get better within the confines of the TrueSkill system. That said, have ranked and practice modes would alleviate any concerns.

vikingland14422d ago (Edited 4422d ago )

The match making was the main reason I sold the game. I played through the campaign and there were level 43 players in my game when I was level 3.

I wish they would have done this sooner because I liked the game. I would have kept it.

Elit3Nick4422d ago

The game came out not even a month ago...

Ripsta7th4422d ago (Edited 4422d ago )

Came out march17th. Not even 2weeks

vikingland14422d ago

Yes thats true but that doesn't change the fact that the matchmaking sucked.

I gave it a try and FPS's aren't my favorite genre anyways. But I still tried it.

n4rc4422d ago

Just remember tho.. Skill and rank are two totally different things..

We've absolutely spanked a whole team of gen5+ while having two of us gen 2, the rest 20 and under..

Higher ranks just mean more game time.. Never assume you'll lose just by looking at a teams rank..

vikingland14422d ago

@n4rc
I understand but I'm also not very skilled at competitive FPS's. I do like SP FPS's,though I did make it to level 15 before I sold it. I may get it again sometime.Practice is best I guess.

B1uBurneR4422d ago

Nice add private matches while you at it.

Tedakin4422d ago

This should be their priority. We do game nights and only having 6 spots is uh.. yeah no.

Kiwi664422d ago (Edited 4422d ago )

you will be able to do private lobbies soon as part of the new modes Respawn have talked about

Kiwi664422d ago

How can people disagree with what i said as that is what they are going to do geez if you don't believe me then google "private lobbies coming to Titanfall" and see for yourself

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1334d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1334d ago (Edited 1334d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
