Windforge brings a lot of new ideas to the crafting/platformer table, which is refreshing with the amount of stale clones on the market. If you want to be a steampunk Captain Ahab, chasing the white sky whale through the seven skies, then this is the game for you.
Hardcore Gamer: The pay what you want tier features Windforge, Stacking, ReignMaker, Paranautical Activity (in early access), and a closed beta key for Strife.
GameGrin's Matt Girdler writes: "I’ll preface this review by saying that before playing Windforge my experience with the 2D sandbox genre consisted of a whopping 37 minutes stumbling around in Terraria, not really understanding the point of the game. However, having spent around 10 hours with Windforge, I can say that I now certainly understand the appeal of the genre, even if this RPG-infused title is lacking in many departments."
Gale writes - "I’ve been excited about Windforge ever since I saw a gameplay trailer last year, with the player building his own airship, hunting flying whales (!) and skirmishing against steampunk pirates. It looked as if it’s going to blow every other similar game out of the water once it comes out. Except maybe Starbound, but that’s a whole different story. Windforge promised to take everything this sub-genre has to offer, and crank it up to eleven. As it turns out, the devs have seemingly bitten off more than they could chew."
