Far Cry’s 10th Birthday

David Martin: "It’s unassuming launch in 2004 proved to be quite a big deal. Far Cry was here, and it’s the best looking PC game ever. You also needed top of the line hardware to get it running it’s best, thus cementing Crytek’s reputation of needing to upgrade everything in your computer anytime they released a game. Their tradition of great lighting, ridiculous amounts of foliage and stupidly large areas all started here."

Still say that the original was the best. At least for its time. Far Cry 3 was fun, but it got monotonous after a while. The original still holds up fairly well by today's standards too.

Unless you're playing the PS3/360 port of the original. They screwed it up. BAD!

jetlian4436d ago

FarCry OMG ALL time classic game. so fun and got progressively harder near the end. Such an excellent game as it gave you another taste of the Sandbox gamestyle.

2004 what a year Half Life 2 FarCry Doom3 Star Wars Battelfront Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Counter-Strike: Source, Battlefield Vietnam, 2004 was a KILLER year in gaming!

too bad it was celebrated with one of the most rushed and crappy HD remakes I have ever seen in my life

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ4436d ago

Happy Birthday Far Cry! You just keep getting better and better!

Yui_Suzumiya4436d ago

Is the HD remake that bad? What kinda issues does it have?

arbitor3654436d ago

it looks like it is running on a 2004 PC at low settings. it struggles to even reach 30fps. there are gameplay and graphical glitches.

i hesitate to even call it an hd remake. no effort was put into "remaking" the game

Noah Hawley To Create Farcry Series

A new FarCry television series has been announced.

crazyCoconuts172d ago

I wonder if they'll go way back to where the story started w/ weird animal-like genetic mutations. I don't think the current games even try to tie back to that origin, or at least I don't see any attempt to...

cloganart172d ago

I think this series should feel like an Anthology like the games. Every season a new setting with new set of characters.

Urgh. Learning the wrong lessons from something as always

P_Bomb247d ago

Currently playing FC4 for the first time. On the plus side, the 60fps update is great. On the down side, the multiplayer is the weakest part. Just chatting in the lobbies, ppl were only doing it for the online trophies. I don’t know that anybody really wants more of that.

Can't wait to see the excuses when this does terribly

Far Cry Villains To Appear In A New Comic

This is interesting news for comic and Far Cry fans as something new in the universe for the game is always welcome. Villains from popular Far Cry games are transported into prehistoric times by the priestess Batari, who has pulled them from their lives before they've committed their most heinous crimes.

"Villains from popular Far Cry games are transported into prehistoric times by the priestess Batari"

Why do they make every f****** thing goofier and goofier

Watch Dogs become whacky, Assassins Creed jumped the shark, Ghost Recon become less serious now this

I think it is the trend. They look around and say ok; what can be done that will not infringe upon the next game and this is what happens. I heard rumors of the next Far Cry offering may be in Alaska and there was also an Online offering coming. So we get this to tide us over.
