Review: Titanfall - Battle Screen

Battle Screen: "It’s rare for a online shooter to really grab my attention. Sure, there’s the occasion Halo or Battlefield obsession or the brief flings with Call of Duty, but even still, I rarely feel compelled to play these types of games near constantly. The same goes for rest of the games press. However, for whatever reason, they too have been so utterly enamored with Titanfall. Why is this you may ask? Well, I have a theory as to why that may be.

Titanfall is a damn fine piece of game design and simply a joy to play." - Trevor Stears, Editor at Battle Screen

wow if they hype this game up anymore its going to blast off

They don't need to hype it. The game speaks for itself. It's design is top notch, it's fresh, and one of the most fun I've had in a FPS since the early COD days.

To be honest, I'm extremely burnt out on FPS games, but I decided to take a chance with Titanfall and I wasn't the slightest disappointed. I've played a good 70 hours so far and have yet to feel any sense of boredom.

I make a point of saying in the review that I thought the hype machine was a bit much. However, the game is genuinely damn good and worth a try.

I'm really enjoying Titanfall on the PC with my friends, it's a lot of fun!

To be honest, I'm not taken by it. Perhaps when I've played some more, but I'm just not feeling it at the moment. Maybe it's because I've fallen out of love with the genre as a whole, but it hasn't lived up to the hype for me. Could be the lack of content, it just feels a bit shallow. So I'm in the good, but not great camp.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
