well, i remember another PS3 trailer from E3 05 that was just as infamous as Killzone for its lack of realtime authenticity. fast-forward to today, and Motorstorm looks about 90% as good as its CG trailer, which is more than any sensible gamer could hope for. i have no idea if Killzone will look as good as its E3 05 trailer, but considering how Motorstorm progressed, i wouldn't be a bit surprised if it did.

I read both boards and I can tell, with the exception of a couple hardcore ps3 fanboys, nobody goes to the 360 fan boards tearing their games and decisions down. It something that has to stop. When I come to the boards sometimes I like to read the comments before I read the article, but instead of getting something informative I get this bickering about something that's not related to the article.

Back on subject. Killzone was a good game for the ps2 and the multiplayer was functional but not great. However, I do commend them on the multiplayer sense it was put in at the very latest of moments.

I payed $400 for it and it was well worth the money. Thank god I've got GOW to tide me over until then, but every time I pause it I can't stop thinking about THE GAME. Only 4 days, 20 hrs, 15 min, and 20 sec away! I am seriously considering freezing myself.

Killzone 2 is gonna be just as crap as the first one, trust me. I remember when sony fanboys were saying this was a halo beater, it turned out to be one of the crappest FPS ever made.

What truly impressed people about the Motorstorm and Killzone target renders was the quality of the animation, the huge amount of physics-driven interactions, amazing graphics, and seemless gameplay. The current version of Motorstorm is about 75~80% close to the CG target, and considering that it's only a launch title that is a monumental achievement. I thought the game was going to end looking and playing like the E3 06 build, but luckily that never came true. I can't imagine how good the second iteration of Motorstorm is going to look and play.

And if Motorstorm is making this much progress, then there's no telling how far along Killzone is coming. If Guerilla can achieve the look and feel of that infamous trailer then the console wars will be over in a very short time.

What's funny is that even though Gears of War is the best that the 360 has to offer, it's still being compared to Killzone's Target Render(and it's unanimous that KZ is still king). That says a lot considering that trailer was aimed specifically for the PS3 and not rival platforms. The video had a huge ripple effect in the industry and even a year and a half later people are still talking about it. It's raised the expectation level of what people demand from next-gen titles. In a way it's a bad thing since other developers have to try and live up to those standards, but good for the industry as a whole since it pushes the artform of videogame production harder than it's ever been pushed.

We'll see what secrets Guerilla, Ninja Theory, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, SOHO, Liverpool, and Factor 5 have been keeping from us in the coming months.

*Factor 5 is working on a second unannounced PS3 title. Insomniac is working on Ratchet, and Liverpool is creating F1 Championship and Wipeout.

if you look at these pictures and the early games,then you can see that it is possible.but it depends on their art direction.they can make the characters aand the vehicles stand out.and have the destruction and explosions that we see in motorstorm and heavenly sword and "pretso".instant killzone ps3(of course they would have worked on the animation).even look at mgs4 and you can see it shares some details with killzone like lighting.give it time.

this Killzone thing is interesting. If it can be at 85% as close as the trailer it would be good. The problem is I DONT BELIEVE it would be as close. So killzone on the ps2 was lacking in a lot of areas but it had potential and was hampered down by the ps2 hardware. Th graphics were actually good for a ps2 game and I don't see why killzone won't be a graphical masterpiece on the ps3. I think the gameplay is what we have to look out for but if they can get it like the trailer this could be good. I think the two games that gamers want to see the most will be Halo 3 and killzone, I know I am anxious to see what Guerilla does with Killzone.

Dude, I understand that people here and other sites bash the ps3 a little and the reasons you give for people to look at th systems equally are correct, and both systems will have good games, and both systems will have online and both will be pretty equal and the ps3 will have its exclusives and it sown super hot looking games and the 360 will have its exclusives and its own monster looking games, and the ps3 does some things better and the 360 does other things better, etc... etc...

Hey i saw in previews motorstorm and lair and some others and they looked nice, so i figured even with all the lies from sony and I dont need to go through the list but i will if you want just ask, but even with all the lies like they did with the ps2((emotion engine etc..)) I still am a gamer and loved the ps1 and wanted and still want a PS3.

Because even with the lies it looks like a nice system and I liked the features that it has, built in next gen drive, if it wins or not i like thats its built in, a bigger hard rive, i like that, multi card reader, i like that, NO rumble well that pisses me off but hopefully a third party can build it in a controller and skip the judgment for sony not being able to use it etc...

I have a 360, I have the Hd-dvd for it, I have wifi for it and the camera and the wireless headset, And while in the first year I had a few games I liked, cod2, fn3, pgr3, oblivion,Graw and a few others that while weren't super next gen they did me justice and held me over plus the arcade and demos held me over until this October, it coulve been a better launch with more AAA titles but it was ok but NOW marvel alliance, splinter cell, GOW, cod3, tony hawk,wwe raw, rainbow six, with all these new games and more I have the next gen games I want, they look alot better then last year and GOW is the best game with the best visuals anyone has ever seen, I repeat GOW has visuals YOU have never seen before and the online experience eis perfect for me and is already built.

NOW, I could easily forget all the lies of sony and just go buy the ps3 in its infancy and play what it has for now and wait for better games with better visuals and control and wait for th eonline to get better with patches and grow with the system as it gets better and deal with little games for the first year and then be rewarded a year later with greatness just LIKE I DID WITH the 360.

But this is the whole point. After seeing the PS3 in action on a lcd and plasma with my own eyes properly connected, I saw something I shouldn't have, Games that dont look better then the 360 games. As you can see, Motorstorm isn't even close. Not 90%! Not 80%! More like 50%! When the GOW hype train started, there was no CGI tricks, no fake videos, just true ingame footage!!!

-there online is a mess...nothing like xbox live.

-xbox live is to expensive, $40 a year...but are willing to put up $700 for a ps3, game, and accessories on one day.

-sony boys just thrashing on GOW and praising Resistance : IGN game Resistance 9.1 and GOW 9.4!

-GOW is way to short, only 8-10 hours. Resistance is 20 gigs and will be a long game! Well its only 10-12 hours and the IGN reviewer clearly says there is alot of just running around with no enemies around.

-The ps3 has great AI, Resistance is gonna have the best AI...IGN reviewer said the AI is average, mostly sends waves of enemies at you.

-xbox 360 online is weak, it cant even do 40 players online like Resistance....Huxley, a 360 exclusive, has 5000 players online.

-ps3 is supposed to be powerful and easy to develop for...games are being cancelled and alot of the multisystem games aren't even at the 360 level (CallofDuty3, Ridge Racer, Tony Hawk...)

They blame the current crop of games that dont equal to the 360 to "not enough development time!" Than why release it? If its not ready, why release it? They want me to put up $60 for a game that is only half ass? Sounds to me like Sony is rushing this system. Sounds to me that Microsoft is just better prepared for the next gen!

why is everyone hyping up killzone 2 the original was a very bog standard fps that even neutral reviewers was saying it didn't live up to the hype (halo beater yeah right) as for the trailer it was blatantly CGI even the best developers out there like factor five have got no where near that level of detail and they never will why because as cgi artist at a VFX studio in london i see this level of detail all the time running on on dual xeon dual core cpus with 4gig ram and they struggle to show it on screen so how the ps3 with its limited ram is gonna do that is hog wash. everyone know that a cpu and gpu is only as good as the amount of ram u have and if my work station struggles then ps3 can't do that. i'm in no way a fan boy but i just can't see how people buy into this sony BS on a regular basis.

I'm waiting until they show a realtime trailer of Killzone before he spreads his hype around. The first Killzone was ok but was not a half life killer or a Halo killer. Hopefully Killzone 2 will be more than average.

i'm in many ways like you.i started playing when pong came out.still have it,the atari,nes,snes,sega nomad(portable genesis),saturn,dreamcast,ps1, ps2,xbox.i had the master system,turbographics(and cd-don't know why i sold it),three gamecubes(bought one-won one and sold the first-then sold the second,then bought another).why?because of the resident evil remakes.did it again for viewtiful joe.then i got tired of waiting for re4.then that came to playstation2.i played all the rest through my previous jobs or friends houses.so i know where you are coming from.but not once did i believe the hype because i've been playing for years.nintendo almost got me with the "ultra64 robotech screenshots",but they didn't.you got to keep your eyes open.

i love my dreamcast and sega.i bought a second just to make sure i can still keep playing it.i was not impressed with ps2 until onimusha came out.then gran turismo and devil may cry,ace combat 2,time crisis 2 and the other games started rolling in that i had to have it.i returned the xbox one day after i bought it.i played so many dead or alives,didn't like fps(s),and played metropolis street racer before it changed to project gotham,that i wasn't impressed with it.but then i bought it a year later when the games started to roll in.now i can't sell it because of nfl 2k5.i can say that sony and microsoft have had machines that i wasn't impressed with until later in it's life cycle.

as for lies:microsoft was implying that all 360s would come with a hard drive,but neglected to mention it wouldn't be standard,they implied that"THE BEST GAMES" would be backwards compatible.not "MOST OF THE WORST GAMES".they implied that they would court japanese developers to make games for the system the second time and not repeat what they did with xbox.japanese support is better.but by about 2 games difference which is nothing.they implied that they would bring a broad selection of games for the system.but they still rely on fps games. and they still have no games like devil may cry,god of war,castlevania,rygar 2,zone of the enders 2.they still don't have games like katamari,shadow of the collosus and ico,okami,the eyetoy games,puzzle games.so THEY LIED TOO.because it has been a year.and the ONLY BIG GAME TO RELEASE IS GEARS OF WAR.a shooter.looks like third,but when you fire it's still first person over the shoulder.mass effect,as good as it looks is still a shooter.and the one everyone is waiting for ,halo 3,is A NOTHER SHOOTER.i wouldn't call the games that microsoft has had a YEAR to show that they are leaders,"CLASSICS".b ecause they will never stay in my mind forever like the old contra series,castlevania series,the old mega mans,gunstar heroes,metroid series,punchout series,mario series,double dragon and streets of rage,shinobi and shadow dancers,etc.THEY(MICROSOFT) STILL HAVEN'T WOWED ME EITHER.

I think it's amazing to have this amount of feeback good or bad about a game that hasn't been released yet. Did GOW get this much attention? I think it really exposes how worried XBOX360 fanboys are about the PS3. Likewise, how excited PS3 fans are about Killzone 2. I will go on record as saying I loved Killzone 1. I loved the AI of your NPC team. You really got to know them. If you disagree, then that is your opinion. But I for one can't wait for Killzone 2. And I hope it is the same or better than the CGI!

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.
