Um...how old are you? Have you lived through console launch before?

This is BETTER than average, by a lot.

Stop expecting a 5 year library on day one.

Sony must be doing something right if its constantly selling out all over the place (and that's without these games that are apparently non-existent).

As Visible said, comapred to previous console launches it's a lot better. I get consoles on launch since the PS1 and N64 and the stream of quality games is much better with less time between good games.

Every launch has been a sort of "wait till the games drop" sort of situations for gamers, but this one has surprised me. It seems the PlayStation brand has sold the console itself, by itself. I'm not saying there's nothing great to play on it because there is but you can clearly see the exhaustion of last gen consoles in the sales of these consoles. A lot of people, like me, were just tired of their 360's and Ps3's. Both great console in their own right, but it had been too long I think. And with them selling so well out of the gate you'll see games come out much faster because developers feel they can pull the trigger on the big ideas they have. OT: it's flame bait, what else is new :P

Final Fantasy XIV ARR is coming april 14 on PS4 too, that's a big exclusive i've been waiting for.

boyscout trippin for hits...the ps4 got games, enough to hold me over until today..i literally just booted up iss...about to play for the first time. and had plenty to play in the 4 months.
i acually try to beat the games i play...knack was long, kz was moderate but including mp still gets play, blacklight gets play, bf gets play...outlast gets play, i'm in the finals in 2k right now. dead nation gets play, strider, rayman lol man i can go on...towerfall nfs..i stopped playing contrast and resogun..played flower again yesterday....smh there is plenty to play...and counting. smh stupid complaints about exclusives...if you have a console you dont only play exclusives...you may buy a console for exclusives, which sells ps4s btw. (i mean he acts like exclusives arent coming..ps3 still has them coming..smmfh)
x1 may have put all their eggs for '14 in a basket while ps4 has many exclusives to look forward to for this year, not to mention better 3rd party game.
stop complaining ...enjoy ps+ goodness...unbelievable that ps+ has free games for ps4 already while still fully supporting the vita and ps3 on the same sub...smmfh some people would find problems for anything...he could win the lotto and still complain because he can buy anything he wants....

Next time I suggest you write a story claiming Xbox One is a bad system or Titafall is overhyped then you will be praised as non-biased and a person who "gets it".

lol I think you're just mad that people are making a lot of sense. All people are doing is disagreeing and with common sense regardless if N4G is filled with more PlayStation fans than Xbox fans.

Both sides are equal and more games are coming very soon in 2014. If you followed past generations, this is how it has always been, slow start then in the 2nd or 3rd year you see a huge amount of games come out. Actually, this generation is better than the last. Last gen was filled with many sports games at launch, this year we had a wide variety of games to choose from. And every month since launch, there was a great game to play, it's not as bad as people try to make it look if you compare generations. Just give it some time then you can talk about if the PS4 has a lit candle or not compared to the competition.

I wonder if people were around during the PS3s launch, since I constantly see articles stating that the PS4 is lacking exclusive titles at launch. Well that was the exact same case for the PS3, but now take a look at it. It is the best console with a large variety of amazing exclusives, it still is supported by Sony and is receiving further exclusives. I bought my PS4 last week, I understood that I won't be receiving a ton of exclusives straight away. However, the PS4 will be supported longer than the Xbone and Wii U and will eventually receive a large variety of exclusives in around 2-4 years. The same thing goes with other consoles.

You are trying to say that there is lots to do, ps+ helps a lot and infamous will be a good few weeks worth of playing but why add 3 upcoming titles to that list? It's about the things to do THIS MINUTE and adding pre order titles doesn't help an argument.

If played 60 hours on Dont Starve that game is deep and i haven't even started adventure mode.

I can't find time for all the other games.

Sony has been on such a dominating roll this new generation going all the way back to last years E3. Successful launch, sold out through the holidays and continued to maintain worldwide sales dominance even 5 months later.

People need something to complain about to keep the console war interesting. Thats fine, the sales numbers speak for themselves. Gamers wouldnt keep selling out a system if it had no games worth playing. Common sense.

As a huge fan of the Killzone, Infamous and MLB The Show franchises...ive absolutely loved the PS4 lineup so far. Knack was a fun bonus game that i enjoyed playing co-op with the wife. Let the Sony haters say PS4 has no games. They said the same about the PS3 last gen. How did that excuse work out for them?

Hm...Titanfall defines the X1 - a game which isn't even exclusive - but inFamous doesn't? One is a next gen title the other isn't. I'll leave it up to you which is which. Speaking of "distorting reality" here...glad the X1 got YAS - yet another shooter; but the PS4 got no games. Are we playing that game again??? Really?

Not everyone likes the ps plus offering atm, and indie games are not always fun for me. With time ps4 will get better, i:ss is a little disappointing atm. But trekking on.

On topic: there's nothing wrong with the ps4. As far as launch lineups go, this is one of the strongest I've seen. From both consoles. And it's only getting better.

Boyscout: The same can be said about any launch of consoles. Hell, when I got my PS3 I was playing God of War 2.

This time around probably feels a bit empty becaue we had BC in the launch consoles so everyone was still on the strong PS2 line-up.

Remember good games take a while to develop.

I think deep down got delayed til 2015. I have a xbox 1 but deep down looks good n so does infomous. I'll prolly get a ps4 when deep down comes out.

But you cannot help but draw comparisons when only talking about one platform.

Titanfall and Infamous Second Son are wholly different games, but because they're exclusives coming out close to each other, how they review and sell reflects on how their consoles are doing.

The launch games for the xbone were meant to be on the 360. M$ was caught of guard by Sony's PS4 announcement, so they put them on the xbone.

I bet titanfall was going to be released 360 1st, then part 2 on the xbone.

How about pointing out other launches with excessive amounts of exclusives for comparisons sake? I don't remember a lot of launches boasting about their launch exclusives. Singling out PS4 when they have comparitively more games then most launches is stupid, at least wait a year. How about an article about how 360 had next to NO exclusives and alot of major titles pushed onto Xbone whereas PS3 has destroyed competition in last 3 years?

Dude, is this your first launch system? I would think after 4 generations of Playstation platforms people would understand by now how this works.

You're just complaining to complain. I don't remember a launch system that had so many first party/third party games that I REALLY was impressed. Except vitas, it's launch was great, it's later it fell kinda by the wayside. If you want big games you're going to have to wait. Just like every gen before it and it will always be this way when the install bases for said console are so small and not worth putting out the "big games" yet. So take your flame bait elsewhere. The Ps4 will sell because of the PlayStation brand and when the install base is large enough the bigs will come.

these are the same users that said infamous would slaughter titanfall then when reviews came out said "how can you compare the two it's like apples an oranges"

I agree there are a lack of games which is why i've waited but you can't say that without getting insulted

The issue here boyscout299 is that you have basically disregarded what Sony is trying to do to fill the launch drought gap. These titles that you kind of dismiss, from the PS+ deals, are meant to fill the gap. The F2P games that have been offered are meant to fill the gap. This has been the BEST launch, in terms of content, that I have ever seen. Sure, the "AAA" exclusives were lacking up front. But, this is a known commodity with launches. A console can survive on big titles for only so long. At some point, the coffers run dry. Then what? Well, you fill the gaps until the next big release or you starve your audience to death. Which do YOU think is the better route to go!?!

When you point out a single console, its an implied comparison. Saying something lacks something is implying that something else already has something. Otherwise, what is the base number of "acceptable number of big budget exclusives"? Something to consider: PS4 launched with 2 big budget exclusives. Knack and Killzone. Most consoles don't average 1 such game per month. Now we are 4 months in, and there are 3 big budget exclusives. It seems awfully sufficient to me. XB1 also seems to have it nailed down as well, (including the strategic delay of titanfall for the 360) XB1 users got dead rising, forza, and that rome game. been kinda dead since until titanfall. tl;dr the author had good intentions, but wasnt thinking it through enough IMO. keep working at it.
