Gaming's most cynical franchise gets a retread with some old faults intact, and new ones just for you.
No other open-world game so desperately wanted to be Grand Theft Auto as Saints Row. So how do you deal with the fact that, for all its little innovations, it simply wasn't as good or taken as seriously? Easy. You pretend you always wanted to be ridiculous anyway. So it goes for Saints Row 2, which aims to be more ludicrous, exaggerated and overblown than its predecessor. The result is a game that looks to be, in every sense, comic.
Drive it like you stole it.

While a lot (like way too many) games launch in sorry states these days, a lot of them do eventually get polished up over time fixes. The same can’t be said for these properly broken games.
Cyberpunk and No Mans Sky are obviously the 2
best comeback stories. Cyberpunk is literally one of the best RPGs ever made now.
junctioning is only broken now because it's been datamined which monster which gives which card and which card gives which items and every single spell to junction with the highest points for each stat. For it's time when that info wasn't readily available it was good, not without it's flaws, but not broken,
i mean, ff8 is not "broken" per se, its just that the junction system is too good and easily exploited even an hour into the game. haha
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is one of them. I can’t get in the Cantina bar later on in the game. The door and other doors throughout the environment is locked off. It is a shame, because I wanted to complete the game, but I can’t until they fix it.

The 2000s was a great decade for a lot of brilliant video games. Here are the ten best games of the 2000s that you may not have played.
You know usually when someone says "you may have missed" it's games that were lesser known, hidden gems, underrated games. These are all super high profile games that sold extremely well.
I would like the original max payne remade in a new engine with ray tracing. 😊
What is this list? These are all hugely popular games. I was expecting games like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Advent Rising, Arx Fatalis, etc.
I've only played 3 on that list. Part of me feels bad about how little I used all the consoles I've owned as a kid. One bright side is, there's over 30 years of games to experience for the first time.
I get the idea that EDGE doesn't like any sandbox games stepping on GTA's hallowed turf, but to be honest this game looks like a lot of fun (so long as the bugs are ironed out).
The magazine plays down the innovations such as the GPS of the first Saints Row calling them "little" and yet praises Rockstar's copycat GPS system on the same website! Further there's no mention of Saints Row 2's groundbreaking elements in the sandbox genre, in particular the fully playable co-op campaign.
Saints Row is never going to be GTA, so people should get over it! In fact the author seems to clearly miss the satirical nature of the Saints Row premise and believes that everything within it should be viewed through the more realist GTAIV tone. And don't even get me started about the flimsy feminist concerns about the portrayal of women in Saints Row as opposed to GTA.
I think most gamers, unlike the reviewer, will take this as it is. A fun romp of over the top silliness with deep customization and playable with a mate through campaign.
Or in other words, San Andreas on steroids!
Well, this proves that Saints Row 2 is a messy GTA wanna be just like the original except with even more bugs (If that's possible). They'll probably hype it again and get 8s for it like the original even though that deserved nothing more than a 4.
At least they are trying! I really don't know what the big deal is with GTA4. To me it wasn't that good to begin with, nothing "uber" about it. Same crap different coat of paint *piss paint that is*. SR was a pretty good game. I can only hope SR 2 is better.
I'm actually rooting for Saints Row 2 to reign over GTA4. Of course not sales wise but over fun factor of the open world sand box genre.
I'm gonna wade in here and disagree with you Red (for once lol)
I bought GTA 4 on the midnight launch and waited in a looong ass queue. After finally finishing the game and practically seeing everything worth seeing in the city in only about 3 weeks, you know what? I'm bored.
GTA 4 is the one game in my collection which has contributed to my new found ultra cynicism to review scores. I have never played Saints Row but I've been following it's sequel and am damn impressed with the tons of things you'll be able to do which should keep me occupied for a long time.
I hope no one's going to talk about glitches. For me graphical glitches is annoying but if you want to REALLY annoy me, make the game freeze up suddenly. Anything that actually stops the game from working is an almighty bug (This is what made me trade in Assassin's Creed within a week only to repurchase it a month later when they "fixed" it) GTA 4 froze on me about four times until they patched it. Still noticing pop-ups in scenery so it is far from perfect.
Didn't like the fighting system AT ALL and never used it again once I acquired a firearm. Also, forget what everyone says the missions DO get repetitive and the only thing that saved it was the great characters and dialogue used.
Multiplayer is where I think GTA 4 shines and is really good fun, but getting that to work isn't always reliable.
For me GTA San Andreas was the best GTA as you could do a HELL of a lot more. If they could recreate that this gen AND add the multiplayer in GTA 4 then I think it'll deserve a 9.9 lol
On another note, I really wasn't a fan of GTA 4's ending as you didn't get to tie up one MAJOR loose end, unless there's multiple endings I missed.
I'll be willing to give Saint's Row 2 a try.
