In-Game communication has become an important feature to console gamers. The expansion of online gameplay is a huge part of it. When the PS3 was first announced, many wondered if it would come with features such as in-game communication and custom soundtracks. To the sadness of many, it did not. Why? Because Sony did something that the other console did not, leave it in the hands of the Developers. This will not be an article bashing developers or cursing Sony. It will simply explain my views on the subject.
Let me start off first by saying that I have no need for in-game communication or custom soundtracks. Why? Because I can simply mute my television to hear the music that I want or send a text message to someone that I really want to talk to. The majority of the individuals on my friend list are people that I have never spoken to or even played a game with. (Amazing? No, I seem to find that to be quite common with many gamers). I also enjoy the game music for the most part. Currently, I have a hard time thinking of a game that has music that I absolutely detest. This is just my opinion of course.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
O.k.. You can text your friend and all, but it just makes it much more practical to chat with your friends while playing
this guy probably doesnt even have much playing time on his ps3....
BRING ON THE INGAME CHAT..INGAME MUSIC...INGAME ETC....
itll be the icing on the cake....
with the PSN
i dont have many real life gamer friends to start with and i can still play online with the ppl i have on my list. The few ppl i have been playing with since Socom 3 i have on messenger and on my cell phone so we can text if we plan on getting on..
anyway
i would like to be able to respond to ppl when im in game and there not. Custom sound tracks are not a big deal for. Plus its up to the dev to give us PS3 owners personal sound tracks. The Show and HVB are just two that do this already
I totally agree with the writers opinion.
Currently no ingame communication but I'm fine with that.
Most of my friends on PSN are real-life friends any way. A simple call, text message, or Instant Message via AIM are just seconds away.
