After offering no new releases at all last week for the sake of putting more focus on the WiiWare launch, the Virtual Console has now returned with a grand total of one new arrival. It's a bit disheartening for retro fans to get a game like Sky Kid as the lone new VC release this week, and IGN have to hope that the Console is only in a lull right now and will eventually ramp back up to at least two new additions to the Wii Shop each Monday.
There are just too many great, untapped titles from yesteryear left for Nintendo's retro service to be pushed aside and forgotten for too long. Save your 500 Wii Points and don't download Sky Kid this week – save them, and wait for the VC to actually come back to life again.

Special moments from Namco's library. When it comes to the arcade, Namco was always ahead of the game.

NLife:
Originally an arcade game, the 1986 Namco NES title Sky Kid draws hard battle lines from the start, though exactly who the warring parties are is unclear. This quirky game is iconic of Namco's early days and even earned a song and a cameo in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U. The action here is a combination of unforgiving and short, which results in an experience that's something of a mixed bag.

Nintendo has announced the WiiWare and Virtual Console game releases for today. Game publisher Konami and Hudson each have a WiiWare game to offer. Watch for them on the Wii Shop starting at 9am PST. See links to screenshots from the new WiiWare games below.
