Turtle Tale looks to get away from the sci-fi settings of Saturnine Games’ previous titles to give gamers a more traditional platformer. Gamers will challenge 5 different areas – which are made up of 15 main levels – on this game’s bright and colorful Island. Turtle Tale will challenge players to use classic jump and shoot gameplay mechanics to overcome the Island’s enemies and obstacles. Those looking for more from Turtle Tale will be able to unlock 15 harder levels by collecting every piece of fruit in every level.

NWR:
"Previously available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, Turtle Tale now has made its way to the Wii U.
Turtle Tale stars water gun-armed, half-shelled protagonist Shelldon the turtle in a quest to rid his island of the rabbit pirate Captain O’Hare and his swabbies. Turtle Tale is a textbook action platformer in which players run, jump and shoot their way to the end of side-scrolling levels.
Mechanically the game is solid. Shelldon has a good weight to his jump and the shooting feels right. Enemy placement is well-designed without feeling unfair, causing players to consider their movements and attacks carefully."

"Retro-styled platformers have become very common in the current generation of games, thanks to download platforms and readily available, inexpensive development tools. Some titles, such as the insanely difficult, finely crafted 1001 Spikes, show an immediate artistry and sense of game design. Others, unfortunately, are bare experiences that, while functional, struggle to mask a lack of design flair. While Saturnine Games' Turtle Tale is a competent, glitch-free experience that offers some semblance of challenge, it doesn't have enough on offer to justify a purchase, especially with the increasingly rich offerings on Nintendo's eShop."

Mini Fortress writes:
"If you have already purchased the Nintendo 3DS version, there is really no reason to buy it again on the Wii U. Well, unless you really want to play it on a much bigger screen. Essentially, Turtle Tale on Wii U is identical to the Nintendo 3DS version."
