Alert! Microsoft Points scam sweeps Xbox Live

While every major company in the world attempts to bang into your head that they will never ask for your account information sometimes people don't listen.

Unfortunately a scam, which appears to have been around for some time, promises free Microsoft points when you log into your .net Passport account. This site, and any site that promises the same, is 100% fake and will only lead to a headache like the reader who sent this in who had 5000 MS points purchased with his credit card.

the PSN way of just adding money and having it in dollors or whatever you use makes more sence to me since you know exactly what your spending

v1c1ous6575d ago

you are going to turn this into "bash xbox live" thing instead of taking into account that the news article is about people being scammed?

nice. you are a valued member of this site.

juuken6575d ago

v1c1ous, he didn't bash Live. He was just stating that the PSN way was safer.

Calm down please.

OOG6575d ago (Edited 6575d ago )

lol how could you say adding money is safer????? Its basically the same damn thing.......

People on this site.....

Totally agreed..

he calls microsoft points a scam.

he says he prefers psn's "straight cash" system. i do too. but his comment was still flaming.

juuken6575d ago

Maybe it's a scam, maybe it isn't. But I have never heard of a scam for PSN. I wonder why this is somehow happening for Live?

OOG6575d ago

maybe due to the fact that the PSN network doesnt deal with as much money going thru it as xbox live??? or the fact right now its still not as popular????

Like really Juuken give it up with the fanboy comments...trying to make this bigger then it really is

v1c1ous6575d ago

ebay, myspace, amazon.

it could even happen to wii.

but on this site, everything goes only when it's convenient for their system of choice.

juuken6575d ago

OOG, how was my comment fanboyish? That was the honest truth. I never heard of scams for the PSN and I was surprise there was a scam going on for XBox Live.

It's terrible for ANYONE to be scammed, regardless of whether they own a PS3, a 360, or a Wii. Hell, it's even terrible for people who don't own consoles.

You need to take a breather and chill out. I never stated PSN was safer or that Live was a huge scam. I said it was a damn shame, and tried to defend the person you were attacking.

Wow, so defensive...lol.

OOG6575d ago (Edited 6575d ago )

funny thing is im as chilled as can be not like this has happened to me......

why do you tell em to chill...not like im doing backflips or something...im just easily stating the obvious....if you dont try to think outside the box that is your decision....but that doesnt mean I cant give you a personal opinion myself....

Please dont try and act like this is more then it is.....if you think I need to calm down then you need to grow up cuz....im typn this with one hand while eating cereal....and it doesnt fiz me one bit

juuken6575d ago

funny thing is im as chilled as can be not like this has happen to me......

(Good for you. I've never been scammed as well. But you're taking my comments out of context for stupid reasons.)

why do you tell em to chill...not like im doing backflips or something...im just easily stating the obvious....if you dont try to think outside the box that is your decision....but that doesnt mean I cant give you a personal opionion myself....

(I can give an opinion as well. But every time I do that, somehow...someway I sound like a fanboy (or girl, because I AM a girl))

Please dont try and act like this is more then it is.....if you think I need to calm down then you need to grow up cuz....im typn this with one hand while eating cereal....and it doesnt fiz me one bit

(I didn't act as if it was more than it is but that's really horrible for someone to fall for a scam like that.
Good for you, and your cereal. I'm at work typing this and I'm about to order some food now. I didn't ask what you were doing.)

OOG6575d ago

understood juuken maybe we both took each other out of context then...so no biggie... its only video games anyway.....and really doesnt matter to me if your a girl or a guy.......ill take your opinions like equal like everyone elses......

But anyway yea it sucks to see stuff like this happening and have fun with your lunch/dinner

juuken6575d ago (Edited 6575d ago )

Good, then we can just settle this.
And thank you.

Marceles6575d ago

Some people are stupid enough to get scammed on PSN though...it's just alot easier to do it on Xbox Live from clicking on a scam site like the one the story refers to. People on PSN get scammed by being retarded and actually giving out their info to someone on their friends list who promises them something if they give out their info. I heard that a few people were scammed into thinking they were getting in a Killzone and Home Beta if they gave out their information as well, but its definitely either to do it on Live

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde26d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy26d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
