60 player online, 8 player co-op, single player campaign + original online gameplay mechanic, better stat system, and actually creative weapons = Halo 3 killer.

Gears2 is in a league of its own, you can't compare a twitch shooter to a stealthy shooter like Gears. Gears is all about the cat and mouse. As great as Gears is, I still think Resistance 2 will come out on top as the more improved sequel.

None of these pics are in 1st person. One thing I noticed was cover taken in last picture. Is Insomniac going to employ the Gorila 1st person cover system. We know they have talked to each other a lot, let's hope.

i've noticed that the single player campain looks better than GERS and comes close to killzone in terms of detail, but online is understandable since thers alot of slow and high connections

these single player pics tell me that the teaser trailer that we all saw was definitely In-Engine

Lots of work still needs to be done. Everything looked pretty crisp, solid, AA was very nice DURING STILL FRAME to boot! The only thing now is shadows, shading and whatnot, the fine tuning and such.

The game looks more exciting than the first from the little I've seen already. The visuals easily outdate Resistance: Fall of Man.

Simply..WOW...not much else to say about that.. if any review doesn't give this a 10 for graphics at least.. then what are they trying to compare it to? and its just goin to be better by the time it comes out.. can't wait for even the demo!

but somehow I think they showed an early build of the game.. just look at the improvment of Killzone from E307 and now, or Ratchet and clank early screen shots and retail version.

Looks pretty good the textures and models looks pretty similar. I like the new gun muzzle flashes and the new amber lighting. Resistance one had like a gray lighting system.

Look Loosers whoi are comparing gears to resistance 2 They can not be graphically compared Why Well because one is a Pure Fast paced fps one is a thir person shooter.

Now a FPses usually have lower GFX y because they are fast paced n the screens change a lot

in third person shooters developers can put in more.

Other than that still REsistance 2 will be a great looking game U shud not comapre games that arnt even released yet...

was that the human player in the shots wasn't so human, in one shot you can see four eyes glowing through his mask. that makes me wonder how the chimera effect has had on the infected humans.

Resistance1 Gameplay was great.. so thats a given.

Having the OPTIONAL 60 player maps will be a fun adventure. The 45 maps should be great as well.

And I'm sure you can just do private games.

I actually wasn't that impressed with the mutiplayer demo that they showed off, I saw it in both HD res and youtube quality. These looks great but I'm gonna wait until the game is in my hands before I think that these are real in game shots and not bullshots like most developers do.

Resistance 2 does look better close up.

and what's that in the second pic, him hiding in plane site while 3 enemies just walk right by him,.....oh god i've always wanted a game like that.

and the 3rd pic.....i'm speechless an enemy climbing over a blurry textured wall while avoiding his picture from getting taken, and as for the other enemies, i think he lost them because i don't think they want kill him.

after seeing all 3 pics i can clearly say that all five million who bought gears of war feel that there really missing out on this exotic fps.

ps: love the texture work and polygon count of the guy's hands, and the heat sink and pip connection thats strapped to him looks out of this F3CKING world.

well , to be completely honest i dont own a ps3 ( that will be fixed in 2009 ) and I wasnt expecting anything jaw dropping from Res 2 but I'm still quite surprised that those screens didnt surprise me at all.Didnt feel a single emotion.
Did sony say they wanted this to go up against Geow 2 this xmas ?

I think some Sony fans must be quite dissapointed too.

Gears of Lame 2 and Failo 3 note that I haven't heard them say any other game besides those two hell I never seen them compare rpg's which is pathetic so I guess there system is truly a "FPS system".

For people who think that this game is GOTY your a wrong, don't get me wrong Resistance is one of my favorite PS3 games of all time and Resistance 2 will be a Day 1 Buy for me with no doubt in my mind but there is one game that comes out next month that will deff win GOTY its a small game called ummmmmm...... R2 owns gears, The gfxs looks miles better more solid than gears. Plus a bigger game in single,plus co-op and with great multi-player battles....GEARS dont stand a chance it was good at the time but things move on to the next level and thats what ps3 doing and the xbox 360 as not progress since the first gear in gfxs and you can see it now with ps3 games......ps3 is the future and the xbox 360 times up.

i think the new artstyle in R2 looks far better as the old one. imo this looks better than geow2, because its far crisper and not as blurry, the colors are better and the art style.

AS far as graphics goes NOBODY HERE EVEN PEOPLE AT PLAYSTATION DAY HAS SEEN RESISTANCE GRAPHICS!!! even the screenshots arent the real graphics the game is still in production and they have used temporary models in the game to show off the multi-player and reveal other things about resistance 2. now the newest screenshots that just came out. those could be the real graphics even though insomniac even says they arent really using the power of the ps3 fully yet. Resistance 1 graphics were horrible and resistance 2 seems to be getting a complete new style of graphics not to mention nobody here has seen the HD graphics of the game. but finally I think resistance 1 will be a better sequel because its soo much different than the last where as gears 2 is just the other half of gears 1 they couldn't fit on the disc. but we can all tell that KZ2 will just own the living sh!t out of every game that is coming out or has come out so far in the console war. and I mean that in the most sincerest way possible.

Loving the Resistance 2 screen shots.
Love the new armor Nathan Hale is wearing and the new Chimera aliens look cool.
I know it's still a work in progress at this point but once the final game comes up it should up to the level of Killzone 2.
We all know Killzone 2 is the best FPS to own but the reason why I said it will be like this game is every time they show a new trailer it's gonna improve significantly.
So far COD 4 is the best shooter to buy right now hands down but seeing these games will define what shooters will be compared to for the next 3 years.

i am a ps fanboy no lie. but i also have an xbox and i must say gears of war is an amazing game BUT.....
the sequel looks like the same $hit as the last one and the last ones campaign mode sucked a$$$. resistance will have better campaign MODES but gears will rape online.

The first Gears crushed Resistance, and I don't see how this one should be any different. This is coming from a ps3 owner, but if you've ever played the two, and you're a shooter fan you'll see that Gears is way more fun. Gears has almost perfected the gameplay for a 3rdps, and Resistance 1 was just a mediocre fps. I don't see much of a reason to compare the two, but if you do it's no contest. The number of people in the match has nothing to do with how fun a game is, and in fact more usually means mindless frag fest, which is something the Insomniac crew has finally taken note of for this coming game, and trying to give objectives to facilitate the numbers so we'll see how well they pull it off.

This console fanboy sh*t has gone way to far. I mean these aren't even first party games. People here seem to be acting like materialists instead of gamers. Play the games, and make up your own damn mind.

there better not be a cover system because then ur gonna have to duck and shoot over and over just like gears. and there better not be a cover because the reason i like resistance and its the best game i ever play is because its CRAZY.. giving it a cover system will kill it and i will seriously cry no lie

Insomniac run one tight crew! The screen shot is very impressive. If that is really in-game then we are all in for a treat, because if a still shot is that good then what the hell will it look like when it's running?? Time to save up some more money. Must get this one! Though it was a given since I really enjoyed the first one and had some amazing 4-player shootem ups in my living room. Online is great but nothing beats having your friends in the room for a big free for all fight.

Resistance 3 was such a FREAKING good game. It was a shame that the market was flooded with quality stuff at that time, because I'm pretty sure it was overlooked by MANY (plus, I was in gaming retail at the time, so I KNOW it was overlooked by many).

I only played 1 and 2. I preferred 2. I thought the campaign was great, although it did have too much influence from COD. The online was a lot of fun, especially the 8-player coop campaign.

That series deserves a remaster collection, as does Warhawk.

Tough choice here. I only played the 3 main titles but I loved them all very much and for different reason. I definitely played 1 more than the other ones, but that was because early PS3 life cycle there wasn't much else I was interested in besides MotorStorm.

2 had the really interesting, ahead of its time co-op (if it had been on 360 it would be constantly talked about still, but games journalists really didn't acknowledge multiplayer games on PS3 and really only acknowledged single player games from Naughty Dog). But the campaign in 2 was just bad. It clearly suffered from trying to be more like the games coming out around it (mostly COD) rather than embracing the spirit of more classic FPS games like 1 and 3 did so well.

1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2
4. Resistance: Burning Skies (good Vita shooter actually)

All good games but Resistance 3 has the best weapons, the most polish, 3D TV support, and a great ending to the series.

Fall of Man still holds a special place in my heart, but 2 and 3 were still very good. I miss those games.

Great trilogy. Loved the second game the most with its colorful graphics and the setting. Wish Insomniac would either make a trilogy remaster for PS5 or a new game in the series.

for me is 3,2,1. I thought 1 was overrated.

For me, 3, 1, 2. Never played the portable one, but I always used to hear about how good it was.
