Could an Xbox One Titanfall Bundle Boost Sales?

According to a recent NeoGAF leak, it seems that Microsoft is set to unveil a Xbox One Titanfall bundle. The rumored bundle is expected to be announced incredibly soon, and will feature everything that comes with the standard Xbox One console, with the addition of a digital copy of Titanfall.

What remains to be seen is just how much this will shake up the current sales of next generation consoles. Microsoft needs to shake the headlines, and Titanfall may just be the game to do it.

It could, and I believe it will. But it won't be by much and it will be temporary. Not merely enough to change the Xbox One fortunes which, to be realistic, is no different that that of the Wii U.

I see only one dominant console this generation, and PS4 is off to a great start.

GarrusVakarian4472d ago (Edited 4472d ago )

It definitely will, don't underestimate games with mass appeal. I agree with you that it's not going to be the game that changes the tide, but it definitely will move X1's at a faster rate than what they have been....but for how long that will last is anyone's guess.

And i never get when people say "no one is going to buy an X1 for one game"....because you aren't JUST buying it for Titanfall, you are buying it for the entire gen....it's just that Titanfall was the game that made you get one in the first place.

On a side note (and to brag ;p)....i managed to find an X1 for £350 WITH Fifa 14, i'll trade Fifa in for £20, then by the time i buy Titanfall i would have bought an entire X1 with Titanfall for £370....awwwww yeah.

Last Monday I got a Xbox One, Battlefield 4, and 1 year of Live for $520 at Best Buy. I feel like I won. I really love this system, going from Game to app, or game & snap tv is all amazing and fast. This concole is the total package, some people hate devices that do more than one thing. Now that I have everything connected to it I voice command everything. The shit feels like I'm on the Star Ship Enterprise

Damn!

That reminds me, i need to renew my XBLG sub....ugh.

"Not merely enough to change the Xbox One fortunes which, to be realistic, is no different that that of the Wii U. "

How are the Xbox One's fortunes no different from the Wii U's?!

SteamPowered4472d ago

The Wii U had its flaws, but they werent dragged around in the street like X1 and its DRM and sub 1080p issues. Wii U had an extremely quiet launch compared to X1 and PS4.
Nobody is even comparing Wii U in the platform shootouts anymore. Where as X1 is under the microscope. I think the Wii U and X1 launches were 2 totally different animals.

DragonKnight4472d ago

People, the Xbox One is selling fine. You don't even have to like the console to be able to do basic math and see it's selling fine. Just because it's not selling as well as, or better than, the PS4 doesn't mean it's not selling well.

Or rather, hasn't. Sales for the console have stagnated which I'm sure MS don't like.

But come on now, we're better than this. Everyone knows the Xbox One's current sales numbers are nothing to balk at. The PS4 is doing better, and likely will even with an overhyped game being bundled with the Xbox One, but just because the PS4 is doing well doesn't mean that the Xbox One is Dreamcasting it.

maddskull4472d ago

if it is doing fine ms wont go deseperate mode and bundle it with a game for a lower price than it actually is.

DragonKnight4472d ago

A bundle doesn't equate to being desperate. The PS4 launched with its own bundles. Are you saying Sony was desperate from the get go?

Titanfall is the Xbox brands most talked about game right now. It makes sense to bundle it with the console.

I am expecting inFAMOUS Second Son, and The Order 1886 bundles for the PS4, as well as Uncharted 4 bundles when it releases, MGSV bundles.

Are all of those desperation moves?

SonyROXitoohya4472d ago

Lol Microsoft is anything but desperate. Bundling a game with a console at a slight discount is commonplace. U fanboys are truly so insecure haha. If Microsoft were desperate they'd drop the xb1 to 400$ or less, the only ones desperate are the ps4 fanboys who are desperately trying to knock xb1 due to them being insecure and threatened by microsofts console. Deny it all ya want, check out any comments on any xbox one article lol proof is right there and even here with all he insecure ps4 fanboys. Ps4 owners like me laugh at u fanboys and always will.

Fireseed4472d ago

What the hell?!?!?!?!? DragonKnight... are you ok? Never thought I'd EVER read something so down to earth and unbiased from you.

DragonKnight4472d ago

@Fireseed: I give Microsoft a hard time because they need it. Much like EA, they perform practices and moves that are ridiculously anti-consumer, pro-greed, and typical of big Western business. I make it no secret that 90% of their presence is bad for any industry they are in and won't shy away from that.

That being said, common sense overrides all. Whether the Xbox One has sold 3 million and had 900K units on shelves, or whether they've sold 3.9 million units, either number for the, what, 3 months that consoles have been out still equates to 1 million a month and is still decent numbers.

Now, if they had only sold 1 million up until this point, or the PS4 was at 8 million, then I'd say there is a problem. But it all depends on what MS considers success. Do they need to be ahead of the PS4 to be considered successful, or do they need to sell well, make good money, and keep at it to be successful.

There is always a product that someone else wants more than the other and there always will be.

rhcpfan4472d ago

"The PS4 is doing better, and likely will even with an overhyped game being bundled with the Xbox One"

Still blindly hating on Titanfall I see. I guess you'll just have to wait for the reviews as you clearly still didn't get to try the beta.

DragonKnight4472d ago

@rhcpfan: Calling the game overhyped is fact, not hate. I don't want the game, I don't care about the game, and I'm not jealous because Xbox fans are diving for scraps.

Its a limited bundle so if it boost sales, it will be now! Preorder now if you want it. Don't wait.

VENOMACR12274472d ago

I def think it's going to boost sales. Your getting a free game with your X1 purchase. And it's not like your getting some crappy indie game, your getting one of the biggest games of the year. I wish it was a physical disc because I'm not a huge digital fan, but either way a free game is always great.

But don't expect this bundle to sell millions of systems or all of a sudden surpass PS4 sales, that's just silly talk.

3-4-54472d ago

NO One game is going to boost any system's sales by a significant margin unless that game is Mario 64-2.

* It's going to take 3-5 games per console to make that console start selling more and the install base grow.

JeffGUNZ4472d ago (Edited 4472d ago )

I think some people are not looking out of the box here. Sure, this one game may not be the reason the buy an X1. I mean, one game isn't worth the 500$ price tag, sure, I get that. But, perhaps people are planning on getting the X1 but were still on the fence because they weren't too impressed with the launch games, or they were holding off till Halo. Now, they see this game it might be the game that pushes them over. They say, "hey, I'll get this bundle now and it should keep me occupied till Halo comes out", etc. This is more of a scenario of; the game that starts transitioning people over to next gen.

3-4-54472d ago

Halo 5 will sell consoles, this game will be bought by people who already own XB1.

Obviously, consumers are always looking for a bargain even i am considering picking up one for this new price.

Could an Xbox One Titanfall Bundle Boost Sales?

Yes.

MysticStrummer4472d ago

How could it not? It's a very hyped game. The question is how much.

Anon19744472d ago

I would think that it would boost sales. Xbox fans have always enjoyed a good shooter and based on the early previews of Titanfall, it sounds like it has all the right elements to be a hit with it's particular crowd. It certainly isn't going to hurt Xbox One sales, that's for sure, but curious this is just limited to the UK for a limited time. I would think this being a digital copy instead of a hard copy of the game it would be easy to roll this offer out to more regions.

jasonc12134472d ago

It's for the US, too. I don't think I can post the Amazon bundle link here.

Anon19744472d ago

Is it? That makes more sense. The articles I read earlier claimed that this was just a UK only thing.

jasonc12134472d ago

@darkride66 Yeah, Slickdeals, Amazon and Microsoft's website show an Xbox One Titanfall Bundle" @ $499.

This bundle includes: The Xbox One Console, the Xbox One Wireless Controller, the Xbox One Kinect Sensor, the Xbox One Headset, a one month Xbox Live token card, and a Titanfall full game token code

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1353d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1353d ago (Edited 1353d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp753d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
