MS: 360 Still Leading the PS3 in Europe

GS: What about the recent claims that PS3 has outsold Xbox 360 in Europe?

AG: I think it's not based on actual data. I think that's clear. We went and looked at independent sell-through data from companies like Chart-Track and GfK, and actual retail sell-through in actual consumers' hands. We have more than a million units than PS3. And that doesn't take into effect all the momentum behind our back. We've seen our sales double since the price drop.

Even GTA - in markets like the UK, the majority of sales of GTA are on Xbox. It is clear that when you look at actual independent sales data - not ours and not theirs - that we do have a larger install base.

twisting every last statistic..numbers can say anything you want them to..its obvious microsoft has lost momentum

MS is like the kid in the playground that says I'll race you to the fence. Then takes a 50 yard head start, reaches it first and says I win.

Well this time the fence is moving and in a couple of years this kid is going to be 100 yards behind going what happened I thought I won.

kevoncox6454d ago

I'm telling you that MS' is doing well this gen. They have come from the being the little kid in the race to going neck and neck with Sony. As much as Sony fanboys may not wish to admit, Sony has gotten punched in the mouth this gen. They went down to the canvas and has gotten back up. After all if you are coming from a 150 million user base you shouldn't be sitting at less than 10 million consoles sold almost 2 years into your console life cycle. Sony should eventually pass the 360 in sales(Mar 2010) but by them whats it really about.

butterfinger6454d ago

the PS3 is at almost the exact same place that the PS2 was at this point after release. Why don't we wait another year and then say that Sony is disappointed. The Dreamcast also had over 10 mil on the PS2, Microsoft should stop talking so much sh!t and just wait and see. Aaron Greenberg is making them all look like poor sports.

JBaby3436454d ago

Yeah right MS is going neck and neck with a year head start. Without that THEY would be phased out. As it is both 360 and PS3 are here to stay but MS is not looking so good considering the head-start and PS3 wasn't released in Europe until 4 or 5 months after the US so the 360 had even longer to gain a lead but it is quickly disappearing.

I think it's funny that there's all this talk about the PS3 being fazed out or squeezed out a month before one of the biggest games on PS3 comes out. It seems as though they're trying to give the impression that the PS3 is a sinking ship and that they're doing great. Both systems are doing well I think but the Playstation's ship is not taking in water. It's moving along nicely. When MGS4 comes out i'm sure it'll be moving along a lot nicer.

...ok, its official, he does Crystal Meth

aiphanes6455d ago

The PS3 has only been out for a year and 2 months in Europe...and the PS3 has almost sold as many units total and the Xbox 360 has in over 2 years.

Microsoft is the one that is getting squeezed out in Europe...

P4KY B6455d ago (Edited 6455d ago )

That in europe it was almost impossible to get a 360 for over 6 months after the launch.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics"

danarc6454d ago

But that's still Microsoft's fault really, so they are still to blame for that.

Loved Ecco on Megadrive/Genesis. Diving out of the water was always a fun feeling, and the whole 'vibe' while playing/exploring was pretty chill and special.

Always hoped we'd get a proper 3D sequel with modern-tech water-graphics and physics. (Same wish for Wave Racer btw).

Rebel_Scum1d 20h ago

It was pretty chill until you get to the last 2 or 3 levels. My god Welcome to the Machine was brutal.

killagram1d 14h ago

You can always play an emulated Ecco: Defender of the Future on Flycast, or if you have a real Dreamcast play it there.

fr0sty1d 9h ago

This makes me smile. I hope that the game and especially the soundtrack keep the same relaxed vibe.

Rebel_Scum1d 20h ago

That is amazing news. Keep it level based or metroidvania but dont go the roguelike route and it should be good.

Pergele1d 18h ago

Now do Shining Force, the small but passionate fanbase wants a new game so badly.

That brings me back. I know I have a couple copies on Sega consoles but they’re in a box somewhere.
I may check out a new game if done well
