And in a sense the PS3 is getting squuezed out. The hardcore market seems to prefer the 360 = look at the software attach rate per console sold. The hardcore audience buys a lot of games.

And the Wii obviously caters to the casual crowd. Obviously all the consoles are competitors against one another. But Sony seems to be getting attacked on two totally different fronts.

One thing is most likely, at least in the US, that the console base will be distrubuted more evenly amongst Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft this time around. Instead of Sony dominating like they did in the PS2 generation.

So, the 360 outsells the PS3 by 900 units, which is less than half of a one percent difference. And the 360 has been advertising that GTA IV has exclusive content on their platform. And the 360 is a lot less expensive than the PS3. And yet, all that in consideration, the two platforms sell essentially identical ammounts.

I think that's actually kind of a win in disguise for Sony and the PS3, that it has the supposedly short-handed version of the big game, and it costs more, and yet sold the same amount.

Not to mention that the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Europe and Australia and Japan and Asia.

So how exactly is the PS3 being squeezed out?

PS3 is doing great on a worldwide perspective, PSP has really gained alot of ground especially in Japan and the PS2, an 8 years old console is outselling the 360 in certain parts of the world.

The difference between the hardware sales of the PS3 and 360 was just 900- 1000 consoles, and this fool has the nerve to say that the "PS3 is getting squeezed out". You got to be joking. PS3 and 360 sales were literally the same for April.

Also, GTA4 came out in late April, and a lot of people were still buying PS3's into May. And I have to agree with one thing he said about the true impact from GTA4 on console sales will be in May.

I think it's funny how he is already counting the PS3 out whenever the PS3's biggest games haven't even hit. Let's see what this guy says next month after Metal Gear Solid 4 drops.

The Playstation 3 has yet to receive an highly anticipated game title and the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 a couple of months earlier this year in the United States and has been outselling the Xbox 360 WorldWide. It's like Microsoft totally forgets about every other market other than the United States, and they only do that because the U.S. market is their biggest market.

Also, a lot of people in the United States are waiting on the new 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundles to come out as well and some people just don't simply want the 40GB model because it's not backwards compatible.

In some ways you can't compare the PS3's amount of Software Sales compared to the amount of Xbox 360 total Software sold because there are more 360's out on the market and there are more 360 games out because it's been out on the market longer.

The price that Sony is selling the PS3 at is perfect and Sony isn't being cheap like Microsoft by selling a system with NO HARD DRIVE and then Microsoft rips off people by charging them $99 dollars for a 20GB hard drive for the 360, $99 dollars for a freaking WiFi adapter and Microsoft continues to be cheap by not having built in Wifi in the Xbox 360. Microsoft made the Xbox 360 as cheap as possible and then makes up for it in profit by having over priced Add-ons.

In my opinion, the Playstation 3 is doing very well for it's price and the fact that a highly anticipated game has yet to come out on the Playstation 3. Metal Gear Solid 4 will definanlty be the first highly anticipated game on the Playstation 3 and it will begin a new Era for the PS3 because on June 12th, the PS3 will officially be in high gear.

It happens to to all companies and I've seen Sony Bad mouth here and there... but MS has been showing it too often since the beginning of this year.

All sony has to do is remain professional about it and continue marketing their Playstation brand as a whole and the public will once again gain interest and respect for sony as an entertainment company.

Although MS does have many positive aspects to their xbox 360 division.... their actions are very abrubt which shows they really just care about your money nothing more... It's also of note that NPD numbers are completely meaningless because they don't include sales at the nation's biggest retailer, Walmart. I have no idea how they can claim victory based on those numbers when they're not an accurate depiction of the sales in this country, let alone the rest of the world.

Sales of the PS3 are a TOTAL disaster. Not only that, they are still losing HUGE amounts of money on each console released.

Lets start to face facts here, the PS3 will survive this generation....but it has been a huge failure for Sony. Yeap, it sold decent in Japan, and not bad and Europe. But unfortunately, it has lost North America, which controls some 46% of the video game market right now. The 360 and Wii trounces out the PS3 in NA.

Eventually, the PS3 will be just a Japan console, a nobody in the grand scheme of things.

From some 100 million owners to some 40 to 50 million owners by the time this gen finishes some 3 to 4 years down the road = FAILURE (by a catastrophic level for Sony) Top that off with huge finacial loses to the company, and the PS4 could be a thing of the past.
