Personally for me, I would say Naughty Dog, Valve, and Kojima Productions. My opinion of course, not fact.

Yeah, those are great. I'd add That Game Company too. But Naughty Dog has been exceptional for 2 generations.

I disagree strongly with much of the author's list, but it's just my opinion. Some of those devs have been horrible in the short and long term, and some don't even exist anymore.

Old Rareware used to be good/godly.

FYI - The list is based on average review scores - so it's not opinion based, it's factual figures from across the board.

For me it's bioware, Bethesda, Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Bungie these teams are really solid.

Bethesda makes crappy games with an unrivaled amount of bugs, they're easily qualified as having the worst track record.

ND no need to explain

RS well GTA 5 could have been better because the story was all over the place along with the mess that was GTA online. But than again RS made RDR which to me is one of the top 5 games of current generation(RDR,UC2,TLOU,MGS4/P eaceWalker)

CD-Red Project, what has me excited is the fact after The Witcher 3 people will finally realize what many of us already have, and that is CD-Red Project are one os the best development studios in the world

Kojima Productions no need to explain a Legendary development house

Bioware are also up there but the way they ended ME3 and how bad they did with Dragon age 2 has left a bad taste. I am hopeful that with next gen Bioware will make much better decisions

I would have put Insomniac there but Ratchet and clank all for one and Fuse were just so average that they really need to prove them self once again

Nintendo no doubt about it

Sega's Yakuza team
and many more but these are my favorites

My top 5.

5.From Software. Their games are not anything amazing and huge expect the soul series. But I love that they haven't been milking their games with dlc as many devs do.
4. CD projekt red. Fairly same reasons that From but all games they have made have been great.
3. Insomniac. Ratchet & Clank and Spyro. Too bad Spyro is owned (and pretty much trasher) by Activision :(
2. Rockstar. Every game they have released have been more or less fantastic.
1. Naughty Dog. Does this even need explanation? The best dev at the moment. And sony sure is so happy to own such an awesome dev. Uncharted, crash, TLOU and Jak & Daxter.

For me, it's bioware, naughty dog, rockstar, and Nintendo. Sorry man Zelda and Mario will always be great no matter what gen or system lol.

From the games I have play only Kojima Productions & Naughty Dog comes to mind that's the only 2 that never have dissappoint me till now, ofc those were not always my favorite companies 10-15 years back Squaresoft, Konami & Capcom was my favorite companies but Square ruin FF, Konami abandon Suikoden & ruin the Silent Hill series & Capcom abandon Breath of Fire & ruin Resident Evil series so the way things is nowadays they force me to change my mind with their actions & teribad performance.

Valve, Nintendo, Rockstar and Naughty Dog. Almost always guaranteed quality.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman18d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
