Well, maybe if they released GTA IV during SPRING BREAK, at the beginning of April, you'd have seen a LOT more people having time AND money to blow on the game, and maybe a hardware unit to go along with it.

and WITH a bigger marketing push.

i will admit however that microsoft did do well...........maybe not as well as they would have liked with gta but they did do well.

Sony will be disappointed by this, that's for sure. Grand Theft Auto IV was the most likeliest software title this year to really offer the biggest push in terms of hardware and it failed to do that, in fact, it had no impact whatsoever.

Price cut is needed for the PS3 to start outselling the Xbox 360 again because I doubt MGS4 or Socom will give it that push in all honestly.

It is surprising that GTA IV sold so well on the 360 with almost 20% of the 10 million install base buying it. The attach rate was similar for PS3, I am just surprised it is so close. I've heard a lot of people say on N4G that GTA is primarily a Playstation brand.

i am disappointed for sure but i guess i really can't complain. Only just a couple of months ago last year the x360 was smoking the PS3 in NA. I mean to think that PS3 will outsell the x360 this first 1/4 of 2008 after Dec 07 NDP would have been unthinkable. I do believe though that Sony needs to drop the price again this year in order to seriously fight for NA.

As a hardcore gamer. This NDP is very depressing news as well. Are we really seeing signs of the end of hardcore gaming as we know it?.

Didnt the GTA PS3 bundle release a few days afterwards in May?

If so then any hardware surges would be shown for XBox because why not get it day one, but everyone would be waiting for the bundle so PS3's hardware surge wont be visible till next months (this months) figures.

The US economic woos are starting to show. With gas almost $4 a gallon, it causes electric bills and food prices to go up. So, there is less in spending for entertainment like games. It was only a matter of time before it finally started to effect sales figures in the US.

I really hope MS does release a 360 this year with blu-ray (used just for movies obviously), because there are still people that still prefer the ps3 because of the added blu-ray.

Slighty off topic i know, but i was thinking about lifetime console sales.

MS have annouced the 360 has sold 10million in the US, plus we no that they have only sold around 5million in europe and PAL regions and half a million in Japan,

Now correct me if im wrong but that only comes to 15.5million sold not the 18/19million people are claiming.

As for sony so you see that between April this year and last they sold 9.24million, but before that they sold 650,000 in March in europe, and just under 2million in Japan and Amercia bringing the total to just under 12million.

Really now its got to the case were both consoles have got very close in sales with the gap now being no more than a few million.

Just thought i'd put that out there.
