Is Titanfall a must buy?

Quite a few gamers had a chance over the weekend to play the beta of Titanfall. The Gamer’s Lounge as lucky enough to play a few hours. The big question outside of the hype is this the game that will change everything? Will this be the next Halo or Call of Duty? Is it a must buy for gamers? Will this be the killer app for the Xbox One?

I have no at home Internet so it's a can't play for me... yay for being in a sucky demographic the industry seems intent on shedding!

Pandamobile4483d ago

...how do you not have home internet in 2014?

kingdip904483d ago

Cable doesn't make it everywhere in the state(us) I live and satellite isn't an option either.

not everywhere is as connected as you might think.

Kingthrash3604483d ago

lol wow bro, your very uninformed. the interet hasnt taken over yet. not even in america. its years off, and one of the reasons that drm would have never worked. you need a quick visit to google to search just how un-connected the world is...including the US. i feel for those who aren't in a area with internet support.
ot:
i wouldn't say must buy just yet imo. i know its fun but how long will the fun last? what if the servers are bad? this game lives or dies with server stability. think battlefield. also know that no game to date hasn't had online problems so expect drops n stuff. that ai takes all competitiveness from the game the minions will be the most you shoot at and that pistol that aims and lands headshots for you isn't gunna help in the long run.
im not gunna say these things cant be fixed because they can, and the game is very fun and fun is the most important thing in any game. it will be a sucess, but alot can go wrong. i see alot of hype for a game that is missing alot of basics in a shooter and thats worrying. no bulletholes or destruction..graphically its ho hum..titans dont last very long you barley encounter human players and the guy who shoots the most bots wins. no sp isnt huge but it would have sold more if it had it (to guys like kingdip) so its needed...things like this i hope ar mentioned in reviews because its largley ignored in previews but put on blast for all other fps...including the vita. kz merc got hammerd for 4v4 and its a handheld game..cod hammerd for 6v6....bf hammered for bad ai in sp and ofcorse the mp is not finished imo...cod and bf deservered to be hammered for thos sins and so should tf. seriously cod has destruction with just people running around why cant a mech or a rocket crack a wall? tf funfactor a 10 everthing else? ho hom.

@Kindip90

I did not expect you to say that you came from the USA. That is crazy! No internet in the Sates?! I know people in the most rural secluded places in Pakistan that have broadband! Glad I live in London! *here's me moaning about my upload speeds not reaching 20MB*

Anyway, for those of us that DO have internet (sorry kingdip..I feel you, really) I think this is a must have depending on what you like. I'm having withdrawal symptoms from the beta so have decided to try build a cryostasis unit until March.

NewMonday4483d ago

people underestimate the value of local split-screen MP, it was a big part CoD success, and no need for internet.

TomShoe4483d ago

Yup, it's a shame internet speeds in the US lag behind the rest of the world.

You can thank cable companies for that. The government gives them exclusive internet selling rights in some areas so there's no incentive to improve.

As for whether I'll be buying TFall: I'll wait until it's on sale. It's a fun game but it doesn't do enough for me for a day 1 buy. Since it's online-only, it'll probably go on sale pretty quickly.

frostypants4483d ago

@TomShoe, part of the problem is the sheer size of the US relative to most other westernized countries. The most rural part of the UK or France isn't even close to as remote as Bumblef*ck, Montana. Canada has similar issues to the US. We just have so much damn empty space on this continent, which makes cost-ineffective to put down infrastructure for every last person. And the nearly monopolized private broadband industry isn't helping...if something is cost ineffective, they won't do it.

No internet @ home?!

I would die!

come_bom4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

No internet! So you probably don't play many multiplayer games. No reason for you to purchase Titanfall or any other multiplayer game for that matter. I feel for you.

"Is Titanfall a must buy?"

For me, yes. I like what I've seen so far.
It depends on a persons taste. I'm sure there are many other games that for some people are a must buy, but for me aren't.

As for the people that hate Titanfall simply because it's not on their platform of choice... tough luck. Get it on PC or Xbox.

tkato4483d ago

Wow that sucks, but it's no surprise to me, the states are lacking when it comes to ISPs, europe is in much better shape..

Magicite4483d ago

This game might be a must-buy for those really love multiplayer shooters, but for everyone else? No I dont think so. But then again once (if) it gets to steam sale, you could grab one for cheap (eventually).

Rooted_Dust4483d ago

On PC this one will be exclusive to Origin. EA isn't usually as quick to discount games as Valve is.

UncleGermrod4483d ago

I actually think it is insane that you do not have internet...but I do not know your situation, so I can't say anything beyond that. It is too bad you cant play, as this title is a must-have with out a doubt (provided you are a fan of FPS).

Paulie_gualtieri4483d ago

Yep! Amazing game.Love taking out Mechs as a soldier. Some of the most fun i had in a FPS in years.

kube004483d ago

I actually enjoyed playing on foot more than the mechs

DarkLord10034483d ago

What a question.. If you have a xbox one you definitely should buy it.

raWfodog4483d ago

If you have an Xbox One, you should definitely buy it if it's a game that you want to play.

DeadRabbits4483d ago

It's about the only reason to own an Xbone at the moment so YES!

SniperControl4483d ago

You have been taken over by something, i know you have!!!

lol

The dead i know, would never say that............

Gazondaily4483d ago

It's a thinly veiled insult to the X1 so it is something he would usually say

jasonc12134483d ago

Disagree on the first part of your comment. Killer Instinct is the best fighter in years. It is remarkably underrated and I'd buy an Xbox One again to play it. March 11th can't come soon enough. Titanfall is the real deal and something fresh in a sea of rehashed shooters. I'd say it's a must buy.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1361d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1361d ago (Edited 1361d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp761d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
