Hope it doesn't make the game TOO easy...maybe the difficulty level gets ramped up if you play with four players...adaptive difficulty would be great.

Some of you don't care about quality. All you want is 36 player co-op and 300 player multi-player. Who cares what the game plays like? You seem more interested in bragging about quantity than quality. It's obvious you don't know what makes a good game.

For myself I probably never will utilize the 4 player co-op but I guess it's a nice addition for some. I just hope it doesn't affect the overall gameplay in a bad way.

I dont see this working too well since this is a Third person shooter and the character tends to take up alot of the screen.

I gotta echo matt1991 here, it sounds like it could be either way. If you listen closely, there's barely a pause, so I think it could be either:

Well now I know why GeoW2 graphics were soooo un un un well un amazing.. They had to use extra space for bigger multiplayer 5v5 (joke) and 4 player co op.. Everyone knows DVD9 doesnt have that much space.. So They took away from the graphics to make it more multiplayer friendly.. Which I cant make fun of.. For the simple reason that one of my all time fav games.. Is the best multiplayer online game ever but never had jaw dropping graphics.. and NO RAF is not RFOM.. its a lil game called Socom

The online coding is good because in the middle of a intense battle i can't afford to get stuck to walls because of the connections. Gears covering system online is hampered depending on connections especially from the host. Like 2 players trying to stick to the same wall but one keep bouncing off a crucial moment. Anyways 4 player co-op can only be a plus regardless of how you look at it. Here's to great gaming in the upcoming months.

Didn't they already confirm that on co-op the difficulty will depend on experience, ie, if your playing with a noob friend the enemies down easier for him.

To all those saying 'Resistance has 8 player co-op gameplay' I say:

Quality over Quantity.

Resistance 1 had 40 player MP, but still Gears of War has a better multiplayer with 4 x 4. Its played still a lot these days.

But hey, Sony fans need something to shout about. When Gears 2 again becomes one of the biggest games of the year, and a good contender for GOTY again like Gears 1 was, they need to say: "But, but we have 8 player co-op and 60 person MP...". Go for quantity guys, I'll go for quality.

I been there done that on the PC. I know how that is. Doesn't make a game any better then another, with less players battling. For me it's a moot argument.

4X4 or 5X5 is fine with me, because you get to "earn your kills" and as well as, you become more skilled as there are less "Weaker-Links". You can't close your eyes and get easy kills in huge Frag fests. Been there done that, it takes no skills shooting at 30+ gamers on any given level.

Ask any Gears of War player and they will tell you about it's "TACTFULness", which can only be achieved in a smaller Multiplayer setting. This is not Gung-Ho, go crazy and shoot whatever you see in sight.

Some gamers appreciate games for what they are trying to achieve, and Gears of War is far from a OPEN UNSKILLED FRAGFEST.

8-Player Co-OP, who came up with that Idea? Not that is should be bashed but it does not Belong in Gears of War, is my point.

People are hung up on a consoles "technical feats" instead of what makes the game/levels work and is fun, with the type of game it may be. Why I ask, so they can say I have the biggest D$%k. Something I feel like many PS3 fanatics carry, after thePS1/2, that "Superiority Complex Gene".

It gets to me. I don`t know about you, but in my area, the gamers are on XBL. We actually laugh at the PSN users who try to act they are gamers, while being left out of all of the gaming conversations.
Hey levdog, socom is a great game, but don`t think you are a badass because you play the only good online game availible on PSN.

Halo 3 had 4 player co-op but it was only for getting (omg) SkullS... Great what are they gonna do in gears collect dog tags? Acheivement unlocked collected a 100 dog tags. Cool...

How can you hear that bit of the interview and NOT ask him to clarify? He just let that bit go and kept going. Know you're stuff before you talk to the man buddy, then maybe you can be of some use to the public. Now half the net is wondering if he said "for" or "4".

That said, 4 player co-op would be sweet and almost a necessity for this game if they want to show up Halo.

4 player co op is nice aslong as you all know what your doing - it just takes 1 player to ruin it for the other 3.

Also as a seasoned Halo2 and Halo3 player i can tell you as a fact that 4 on 4 slayer is the most popular type of gaming match - massively more so that the 8 on 8 games available.

Unless you know everyone on your team the chances of a decent tactical plan on a 16 player match or more is very doubtful - even more so the more players on your team.

On Live you can invite your friends mid game through messaging or private chat - On PSN you have to exit the game to see your friends messages then start the game again - at the moment the 360 has fps on its online service locked down real tight - Sony have alot of catching up to do but with there fall update and the promise of Killzone2 being awesome they might get where Microsoft have been for a long time.

Good. Wasn't needed at that time. Let the power of the consoles get a few iterations down the line before remakes are done.

1 and 2 for sure 3 was ok Dom's death felt rushed to me. Judgement was meh 4 was ok and 5 I thought was boring.

4 & 5 had some bullshit practice’s for MP characters and skins.
Judgement was very casual.
2 had the best maps and good gameplay if it wasn’t laggy.
3 had okay maps (too open) but the gameplay was the best.
1 was solid all around.

6. Gears of War: Judgement

Judgement has the weakest campaign and multiplayer. Gears 5 would probably be ranked lower if it’s multiplayer didn’t mature well. The game improved significantly in terms of progression and content from launch overtime. While, Gears of War 1 was the most influential title of the series it hasn’t aged as well as it successors.
Gears of War 2 is number one for me due to its plot, introduction of horde and personal nostalgia, despite 3 being objectively better, in my opinion.

I Haven’t not played the spin-off titles, as they belong to genres that don’t interest me.

As an aside: I waiting for my EARNABLE or FREE COG still Spartans to be added to Halo Infinite. Spartans Emile and Kait were in Gears 5 mp, so 343i should reciprocate the Coalitions cross-over.

1,2,3,5,4 and Judgement for me. The first game is hard to beat imo.

Based only on the campaign. 2 was almost perfect; 1 (as a start for the franchise) was amazing too. 3 had some issues, but mostly very enjoyable. Judgement tried to move some stuff around but mostly stayed with the same crew and very basic story. 5 and 4 (campaign-vise) were pretty bad, didn't feel like they were important for the Sera as a whole (maybe that's how it felt to me).

Gears of War 1 is one of the coolest games ever made. A really unique blend of shooter and horror. The art direction was stunning, the music was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was really special. It also looked incredible back in 2006.

This series need a god of war style reboot, the cover and shoot mechanic is old news now they gotta do something to mix it up again.

Other wise its lterally 7 games of the same thing with minimal additions to the gameplay

Now that I finally own an XB one day I'll try the Gear games on Gamepass.

The first 3 are the only good ones in my opinion with the original Xbox 360 Gears 1 was the best online. The rest where not good imo.

Gears 1 was the best hands down. Dark and gritty from beginning to end. Gears 2 was an incredible sequel that ranks close to the first imo. Don’t think they will ever recapture the magic of the first two games. The emphasis has shifted and propably won’t go back.

I have all 5 mainline games from sales on the Xbox store... I need to play them one of these days

Gears and Halo 3 made me pick up a 360 immediately after playing at a friend's house. Great times there. Gears was something new and different from everything else

Game series is ugly art wise, plays super clunky and is just lame. I hate gears.

I remember booting Gears 1 on day 1 back in 2006 and my girlfriend at the time said “how could games look any better from here.”

Not only was Gears 1 special for its visuals, but the gameplay felt so fresh and innovative. What a time.

360 era gears doesn't miss, amazing games. One era, ain't a big deal, really not missing much with it
