Titanfall Prestige Mode Discovered, Called “Generations”

MP1st - While Titanfall builds off an exciting and winning formula from first person shooters like Call of Duty, recent rumors indicate its becoming more and more of a spiritual successor to the famed franchise than ever before.

Replayability indeed.

"The idea and lore behind it being that your pilot wears out over time, becoming increasingly rusty on the field of battle. After reaching the maximum level of 50, according to the poster, you can regenerate into a new body that is “better, sharper, acquiring experience even faster than beforebefore” for a price. That price however, is the reset of all your unlocks, challenges, and rank."

Ranks and unlocks are fine but you lose your challenges? I need my challenges for something to show for and something to accomplish I plan on sniping and I want to complete as many challenges as I can in that category plus others. I'm not gonna fill my Game DRV with sniping clips for proof that I did the challenges.

Imo people are just gonna speed through the ranks if they're faster and gather more experience .

And trust me the way people played that freakin beta people are gonna FLY through the ranks in Titanfall. They're after making that decision of prestige and realizing they're acquiring more XP they won't care about challenges they wanna make it to max prestige.

I certainly do care about my challenges which is why I'm on the fence about this.

GuyThatPlaysGames4468d ago

Hmmmm. Why does this sound soooooo familiar lol

JustPlay44468d ago

Well challenges are used to unlock attachments and burn cards so I guess that why they reset. But they may have some way of showing what you done not sure

Are you a TimeLord from Doctor Who?!? lol

Titanfall is fantastic. Absolutely will revolutionize the FPS genre. Can't wait. Put in over 20 hours in the beta and I got it late too. Exciting times are ahead for FPS fans.

tbone5674468d ago

So many people still salty its not coming to PS4? What a shame.

VENOMACR12274467d ago

@OVOXO_Mike

Idk, maybe because TONS of games use a prestige system.

Hmmmm, why does having super hero powers and being able to fly sound so familiar (Infamous, or any super hero game)?

Hmmmm, why does having to figure out puzzles, climbing and swinging from ledges sound so familiar? (Uncharted, or initial Tomb Raider series)

Lot of games take things from other games and try to make them better. Uncharted is a perfect example. It took what Tomb Raider did and perfected it and Uncharted is now a major huge title.

The game was extremely replayable for me in beta form, with two maps, three game modes, a level cap at 14, under half of the weapons, perks etc. that will be available in the retail version. The option to "do it all again" is always nice.

RyuCloudStrife4468d ago

enjoy 2 CoD's a year on Xbox One lmao

drsfinest724468d ago

see you on titanfall 2...whenever that comes out

people feeling salty.. lol

XiSasukeUchiha4468d ago

Basically it's COD like basically!

Palitera4468d ago

Basically on every level basically.

90Supra4468d ago

sounds awfully familiar...

MysticStrummer4468d ago (Edited 4468d ago )

No no no it's innovative and fresh.

Edit - That was clearly sarcasm, but I actually did think of a way in which it's better than the CoD version. Since it's a sci fi game, there's actually a plausible reason for it to happen. Gotta love sci fi. :D

sorane4468d ago

I've been saying the same thing about a lot of games lately.....

AngelicIceDiamond4468d ago

@Supra Lol what would you expect from a game that focuses only on MP?

Of course Titanfall will feature some sort of post leveling progression system.

Palitera4468d ago (Edited 4468d ago )

Of course it had to be the same system its franchise used for the last seven entries.

Couldn't be something like Diablo's (paragon levels) or Borderlands' (badass ranks) systems. No, they're different franchises, wouldn't make any sense.

majiebeast4468d ago

@Pal

Paragon system was easily one the best features they added to Diablo 3 and i hope more RPG's dungeon crawlers use it in the future.

VENOMACR12274467d ago

@Palitera

I think your confused on how Borderlands works. When you level up, you choose a new ability. Badass rank is a rank for completing challenges, not leveling up. So if you wanted to compare leveling up, the two are completely different and wouldn't work for TF.

And LOTS of games use a prestige system. It's not like only COD and TF use it.

PONTIAC08G8GT4467d ago

Not sure why people are making a big deal about the prestiging being similar. A lot of MP games use this type of system.

The people who made one of the features that adds a heap of re-playability to a game added the feature to their new game? I am truly shocked.

MysticStrummer4468d ago

That addition of replay-ability isn't automatic. Prestige mode never interested me at all. It's good for those who like it though.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1345d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1345d ago (Edited 1345d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
