"What makes Titanfall so special?"

Simple, the same reasons that made CoD so special for so long to so many people, it has mass appeal. It's a fast paced, fun, action packed, pick up and play, easy to master FPS with mechs and jetpacks. That's why.

It's not for everyone and it's not particularly "special", but when a game with the above things i listed gets released then it's bound to get a lot of attention.

Even me, someone who has grown tired of the FPS genre, played the Titanfall beta and was hooked after a few games, the free running is so effortless and once you start getting a feel for it and start stringing moves together it's a lot of fun. I've even bought my X1 now instead of late 2014 so i can play Titanfall.

(I still hate the bots though).

Easy to master? 90% of the people were running around like they were playing COD. I agree it's very pick up and play but this game is going to take at least a month before you see the average player get the mechanics down properly.

@aiBreeze

My bad, maybe i should have put (for me) when saying it's easy to master....i can't see many people having trouble with it though...all you do is hold down the left stick, look where you want to go and jump. By the 3rd or fourth game i was doing this - http://img.acianetmedia.com...

That's not my GIF but i remember seeing it and wanted to replicate it. It's really not as hard as it looks.

"It's not as easy as it looks."

Speak for yourself, i saw lots of people stringing together wall runs in the Beta and i jumped of lots of walls onto the back of Titans too. You must have played with simpletons.

That isn't hard but combining that sort of stuff while in a fire fight and getting your aim down.. that isn't easy. I can count on both hands the amount of people I've ran into on the beta who utilized the walls correctly in a fire fight. It's not as easy as it looks, especially bouncing off walls, popping stim, getting behind a user firing at you frantically and putting the boot to his ass. Some of the most satisfying moments I've had in FPS games since Halo 3.

Titanfall just feels great, theres so many epic moments in every match, theres no lag, the level design incorporates mechs and pilots nicely, the small details from grunts talking to eachother to seeing every bolt on your titan, the wall running and how natural the movement and controls feel, its just so awesome

It's quick pace. There's something about dodging a titan by jumping from building to building through windows/roofs when it looks like you're about to be cornered

Hicken4468d ago

In all honesty? Nothing that I can see. There's nothing special or unique about it. Doesn't mean it won't be fun, though.

Just not for me.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
