Cheaters captured in Titanfall

"Last night on PC our Danish colleague Rasmus Lund-Hansen happened upon some opponents that were a lot quicker than they were supposed. Clearly, there is some sort of cheating in the works."

The game hasn't even launched and already there are cheaters...man those guys work fast.

Marked4488d ago

Amazing! you know there is money to be made, by selling cheats/hacks, when the first iteration of a game gets hacked in the first week of is code being released to the select few.

BelkingOfSony4488d ago

I remember when modern warfare 2 was released my friend was selling cheats and hacks to the game at £50 each on ebay and he made £3000. He could have made way more money but he didn't want to risk getting caught.

Oner4488d ago

They probably don't have to work very fast at all, just adapt some of the many hacks, mods, cheats that worked in other Source engined/coded games.

sAVAge_bEaST4488d ago

Source engine*, all they have to do is slightly modify code, that's been out for over a decade.

Str8Chaos744488d ago

All I know is that if you cheat at a video game you ARE a loser.

Ace Killa 084488d ago

I don't get your point with the link...

lolCHILLbro4487d ago

i found some raw gameplay of Titanfall to show what the game is like

LAWSON724488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

I have been gaming on PC for about a year and a half and have yet to run into a hacker. I have seen much worse on 360 games for example MW1 is unplayable last time I tryed and MW2 was well known on 360 for the hacks

Thehyph4488d ago

There's a reason that apps like punkbuster are older than the Xbox 360.

sorane4488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

@steve

I don't get your post. Other than you pointing out the obvious that the PC platform has been around much much much longer than any other platform and the last gen consoles were the first to really have online.

@Milruka

OK, so I was right. He was just pointing out the obvious. That PC has been around much longer and online is relatively new to consoles.

Milruka4488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

Sorane Punkbuster is a anti-cheat program...

That's his point, Lawson has only been playing for a year and a half and claims that he's never seen a hacker, yet hackers have been around in PC games for a very very long time.

*edit*

@LAWSON
The problem is you can make a anti-hack and all it takes is a few people to reverse it and bam you have a new round about. Anti-hacks look for specific codes in the system, All people have to do is find a work around and they are back at it again.

It's very easy to do on PC because it simply takes a while to create it, however to catch it is more difficult, you have to find someone who is using it, have evidence of it, Find a copy of it to add it to the block list.

Which means the hack has to be used by a good selection of players usually. companies make matters worse when they take large selling shooters, lets use COD and BF as examples, when they put those games on sale many people will buy a good selection of games just to create hacks and then turn around and sell them to make profits.

Which still exists today.

LAWSON724488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

@milruko

Okay your point, PC is much older than consoles and clearly has not always been secure. Does that mean it cannot mean security has improved over the years? We are not playing are games in the past so why the hell does it matter now if the games work fine today. If there is a current PC game dominated by hackers please point me in the direction.

Your right there are many cheaters on PC but don't think that cheaters are limited to PC gaming. The hackers and cheaters have already mastered the X1 and 360 versions of Titanfall and it's not out of beta yet. That's the way it is in gaming and everyone knows it and sadly excepts the fact that the platform makers and game developers either can't do anything about it or won't do anything about it after all once you buy their product they have what they wanted from you and sure they do want more. Gamers know what their getting into especially with FPS games and when the DLC arrives we continue to give more. Google hacks and cheats for Titanfall or any FPS game see what you find. Hacking and cheating in a game is not even a challenge for those that do it and it's big business with people just waiting for the hack and cheat to be sold. Take a look at any leaderboard on any FPS game on release day for that game and within 4hrs the top of the leaderboard is full of people that have made the top rank of that game and if the LB shows win, lost records most all of them have not tasted defeat. We all know FPS games are full of cheaters and as gamers that play the game the right way our only option is to just deal with it or move on.

SoulSercher6204488d ago

Only in beta and already have cheaters. Just wow. I hope this isn't a recurring thing in next gen FPSs.

JeffGUNZ4488d ago

Uh, isn't that the point of the beta, to find bugs and exploits and to correct them? I'd rather they be found now.

princejb1344487d ago

Yea but most of the time those bugs follow the full release ( I'm looking at you bf3, bf4)

Volkama4488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

It says they've captured footage of cheaters, but all I'm seeing is what looks like a promotional video?

As you say, there are burn cards and the pilot stim ability that increase your movements speed and afaik those stack too (haven't tried it, I'm a burn card hoarder even in Beta).

Hard to say if they're seeing hacking or just getting confused. Is it at any particular point in the video? :|

EDIT: Ah OK I skipped some way and that's one turbo Titan.

Fishy Fingers4488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

That's why you have betas. Hopefully something can be done before launch to combat it if it's an actual exploit.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1363d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1363d ago (Edited 1363d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
