Good Lord! Do SEGA and Capcom really have over 600 internally developed games?

darthv724455d ago

Me personally, i really like Sega. the old sega where they did most of their own work. The current sega is more of a publisher than developer now.

Off topic, i really dig the Scanners pic for reference. I can picture the guy on the right head exploding....now.

Same with rare I liked the old rare

And I liked the old square

And I loved the old enix: anyone remember mischief makers on the n64?

UltraNova4455d ago (Edited 4455d ago )

Ok its obvious Rockstar will be first , Valve second and Naughty dog third but its kind of unfair to compared someone who released 600 games to someone with like 30.. I mean the average in those scores is so stretched its unreliable to compare...

LimeyGeeza4456d ago (Edited 4456d ago )

In some cases they aren't all developed internally no, but they are grouped together for sake of this list as they own the IP

Valve?

But they publish 1 in every 43,844 donuts pwned by Gabe.

So I guess that does not count. Calories do tho

Are_The_MaDNess4455d ago (Edited 4455d ago )

the only year they didn't release anything was in 2002. except that year they have released at-least one game or piece of content each year.

every game they release runs great, have good soundtrack and alot of character to it.
yes they haven't released the new Half-Life yet, but they have released alot of great games since then.

not to mention all the progress they have been making with PC gaming in general.

pandehz4455d ago (Edited 4455d ago )

Was a joke lol

Thought it would be obvious since this article was about best track record

Are_The_MaDNess4454d ago

well on this site its hard to see whats a joke and someone how is really delusional.... oh well.
still think Valve is the best dev out there. doing a great job with Dota 2 ATM.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman14d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
