Maturity Crisis: The PS4 so far has been running circles over the Xbox One. Because of this, there has been a lot of discussion in the gaming sphere about Microsoft dropping the Kinect to make the Xbox One cheaper. The concerns from the media are understandable, but Microsoft has already jumped full steam ahead on the Kinect train. Ditching it now would upset early adopters and investors. These issues alone will cause Microsoft to be hesitant in dropping the Kinect this early in the game.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

LucasArts gave Jango Fett his own game in 2002, and it pulled Star Wars into a much dirtier, rougher, and more interesting corner of the galaxy.

Dear team,
Xbox has always been different.
We started with a simple idea. Games should bring people together through shared experiences. That led to the first Xbox in 2001, Xbox Live in 2002, and new ways to connect, from friends lists and achievements to parties and play across devices. Today, Xbox reaches over 500 million players around the world, with some of the most important franchises in entertainment.
If they go back to exclusive games it at least shows that they are finally getting it. They would be turning down immediate money for something that will potentially workout in the long term.
Only issue is they've already opened Pandora's box. A lot of their base has moved to PC or jumped to PS. So will be a long road to get back on track.
We have been saying this from day one exclusives are a must if you are going to be selling hardware look at Nintendo and Sony before Jim Ryan. That's the proven formula. You had some that were deluded and blinded by loyalty accepting that multiplat was the future and that MS was merely getting ahead of where the industry was headed, but at least they can finally see the light and agree with what everyone has been saying for a decade+
Despite all of that, it's clear that Microsoft's Xbox division is broken beyond repair.
It's been three to four years since they bought the Kinect stuff. And they wasted 500 million alone just on advertising it on the Xbox 360 alone. Kinect has been the main focus of all their showings ever since they bought it. Dumping it would be a gigantic PR disaster.
A huge chunk of their first party developers are now completely Kinect/casual focused. Along with a large part of the Xbox team. Microsoft would need to dump all those people and projects. With so many stories talking about Microsoft potentially dropping or selling off the Xbox one has to imagine that doing something so humiliating and indicating weakness and failure is the last thing the Xbox team wants to do despite the Xbox One getting crushed by the PS4 in sales.
There is an unsupported assumption that Microsoft needs to drop Kinect and then the Xbox One will be cheaper and magically start selling at PS4 levels. But in reality Microsoft would be left with a shell of console division that has had the main focus of its development ripped out and thrown away now supporting a console that is getting creamed in graphics by the PS4.
Dumping Kinect is such a severe move for Microsoft that they might as well go all the way and hit the reset button and relaunch entirely new hardware.
Doesn't mean they won't eventually...they will do it people just need to be patient. They are just trying to get as many people to buy one before they go after us.
Not sure how they could ever release a standalone X1 as Kinect uses up x1 system resources and they are so heavily invested.
They need to either drop it or justify it to gamers. They should be focusing on more stuff like the face mapping I heard about last year. Give developers already made existing tools to add to their games without them having to worry about it taking up resources. If they did this it could possibly make multiplatform games more appealing on the Xbone.
I keep saying is to fast to say kinect is not worth it, I haven't see a game yet from kinect.
Besides is 75 dollars the cost of it.
