Apparently We Won’t Hear About Fallout 4 For ‘A While’

The complete and total lack of any sort of Fallout 4 announcement has become the thing that people are talking about. And when they’re not doing that, they’re making hyper-elaborate bogus ARGs about it and registering false trademarks. So when Bethesda game director Todd Howard approached me on the D.I.C.E. red carpet, that’s exactly what I asked him about. Here’s what he told me.

I don't really care if they take their time because just like the leap of generations with Oblivion from Morrowind, hopefully Fallout 4 will be a true next-gen game.

I'm so tired of waiting for Fallout 4, scrounging around on the web looking for something, ANYthing to give me hope. Well y'know what? F*** it. Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin, The Witcher 3, Dragon Age 3, Mass Effect 4, etc etc. These will be my reasons to live. Shove Fallout up your @$$ Bethesda.

You know the longer Bethesda delay a Fallout 4 announcement, the more customers (like yourself) will say F.I. and find other games.

BTW, I agree with your sentiment. Fallout 3 came out in 2008.. been long enough. New Vegas was a spin-off, not a sequel and even that came out in 2010.

Bethesda has roughly a three year cycle for games. Oblivion came out in what, 2005/2006ish? Then Fallout 3 in 2008, followed by Skyrim in 2011, now ESO in 2014. I would assume that a Fallout 4 game would be appearing in 2016-18 at the latest. They've adapted to the new hardware with ESO so there shouldn't be too much difficulty building the game. The interview does sound promising, and from all the hype, I highly doubt Bethesda would just shrug off thousands of fans eager for FO4 (myself included!).

So even though delays and things suck, it is much too early for them to announce the game anyways.

Either the current state of Fallout 4 is a total train wreck or they don't care about their fans. I'm guessing the former.
