MWEB GameZone's Zaid Kriel writes, regarding the Capcom's Deep Down not including female characters: "[Excluding female character]seems like a really dumb decision, especially when gender issues in gaming are a known point of contention, both within the content of the games themselves and the inner workings of the industry itself."

Jason Dietz: "We reveal the past year's best and worst video game publishers (based on their 2025 releases) in the 16th edition of our annual Game Publisher Rankings."
But... but... the garbage-mongers always tell us that Square Enix is in trouble! 😂

Capcom has clarified its current stance on generative AI in its videogames. The major Japanese publisher and developer behind popular series like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter has revealed that while it doesn't use gen-AI assets in their games, it is exploring ways to use generative AI to streamline the game development process.
Using Artificial Intelligence (more like Realistic Stupidity) art assets in your games is a great way to get people to boycott your product. We don't need that ugly, unsophisticated, generic, fake art in our games, good on CAPCOM for not using that garbage.
Naw you can't fool us, You work with Nvidia, that's a fact! And here you wanted to advertise but now look stupid!
Whatafacepalm
I find it strange TBH. Perhaps we may read too much into this.
Not something I'd want to have in the news if that were my game. Dark Souls was pretty neutral about this.
Sigh~ More PC BS.
I read this article and I get the impression (provided it isn't satire) that they want games to be paint by the numbers. However, this ultimately stifles creativity and leads to games that feature token characters (black, white, asian, male, female, gay, etc) in order to make special interest groups happy.
I think it's sad we live in a world where some story we know all of nothing about is attacked because it was designed to not include a female main. I also think it's sad that these people apply their culture and act like it's superior to their culture (news flash, the Japanese and West are very different cultures). In many ways, this is equally offensive, though very few people think beyond the fact that they're right and everyone else is wrong.
Depends on how important the specifics of the character are to the developer. Gender choice in uncharted wouldnt make sense but it does in say an mmo.
