Titanfall Beta Impressions - Mouse n Joypad

Johnny - "If seeing is believing then I believe, every thing that has been promised to gamers about Titanfall is true. It is a revolutionary, fresh take on the multiplayer scene and I can almost smell the dead body of COD, as it lays rotten in Titanfall’s wake. March 11 will mark the birth of a new era in online gaming, let us just hope that they respect the fans they have gained and will continue to gain in the future by keeping this standard of work."

Lol i keep hearing this will kill call of duty. Its not. The game is fun but not that great. CoD is better and more team based. Bots in this game ruin the whole experience. I played a lot this morning. If people hates call of duty so much then they should hate titanfall because it looks and plays like call of duty. Call of Duty is actually more team based and requires more skills than titanfall. People loves to rip on call of duty graphics then they should rip on titanfall's too because they look like a ps3/360 game.

That's why I hate when the media hypes games.

Allsystemgamer4482d ago

^ lol this guy

Plays a few rounds and thinks he's an expert.

The only thing that is similar to cod is the gunplay which is reminiscent of cod4 cuz it's the old IW team. Movement is different. Titan combat is fun and so is the parkour.

The bots aren't an issue they're just placeholders.

TheFallenAngel4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

You must have fun killing bots then. The parkour fun? lol it barely works. I had fun, for a few rounds after that it got lame killing useless bots. The only time you see pilots is when they are in their titans and titans are overpowered and way too easy to get.
Don't get me wrong, its a good game. But not what the media makes it to be. I actually went back to the horrible Ghosts after titanfall and had more fun.
My main grip is that they are praising it because of mechs, which they are too chaotic. But they dont point out the horrible graphics, but they will point out call od duty's.

@BoltsNRAYS
I know how to use it. I used it a lot of times on alleys to get to the roof of a building. I also used it to jump from building to building but the game is nothing to be amazed or be wowed of. like I said ITS A GOOD GAME, but not what the media makes it to be.

Bolts-N-Rays11094482d ago

@TheFallenAngel

Parkour barely works? You, sir, must really suck at it if you think it barely works. The parkour/wallrunning in this game gives it a whole new feel and verticality to any game I have ever played.

Allsystemgamer4482d ago

Just finished a match on PC with 21 pilot kills and 24 bit kills and 2 Titan kills. 4 of those pilot kills were while I was wall running. The parkour works perfectly. Stop playing with your feet

Team_Litt4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

18 of your last 20 comments have been about TitanFall and how much CoD is better or how infamous and Destiny will outsell it...I didn't even bother to go to the next page of your comments because I'm sure I'll just see more of the same.

I think by now everybody gets it buddy, you don't like the game and you think it is over hyped. Great, thank you for your input, you really do not need to keep repeating yourself. How about you go comment on a Second Son article and raise the heat level of that game instead of being a downer over here.

To those that believe I'm trying to muzzle those with a negative opinion of the game, not so, I just do not think he's adding anything of value anymore to the conversation. Also his agenda is peeking out a bit too much and he's become a bit obvious.

TheFallenAngel4482d ago

The reason I keep pointing it out is because i'm tired of the hype on this game and seeing all these articles on n4g. Its time to get new articles about other better and interesting games. Its way out of proportions. Its a fun game but no call of duty killer or is not better.

I only mentioned once about second son outselling it. And I'm pretty sure it will. Same with Destiny.

The Bots make the game easy and for the casuals, it will make them feel like they got skills. That is what will probably make this games sell. But, I feel that with out the challenge, I will get bore of this game fast and it will sit a collect dust after a couple of weeks. But some peeps will be all over this because this will be the first game that they play and get like 60+ kills

Allsystemgamer4482d ago

Can't win the game killing the bots.

Ricegum4482d ago

But bots are a distraction. They need to improve the AI significantly also.

porkChop4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

Killing minions doesn't really do anything for you other than unlock some challenges that are specifically about killing minions. You need to kill players if you want to win and be successful. Minion kills are even listed separately from player/pilot kills.

I was really skeptical about the bots originally, but now that I've played the game I understand the idea behind them. Titanfall really isn't just an FPS, it's almost like a First Person MOBA Shooter, which is something pretty new for the AAA market.

The bots are easy kills, yeah, but they're not really your target.

macusa224482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

Killing the bots cut down the time of getting your Titan, which at the end of the day makes it easier for you to kill the humans. But the game is fun

BabyTownFrolics4482d ago

It's fun no need to over think this, 60.00 for a fun place to play with friends for the next year or so

Bigpappy4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

This game is very competitive. If you spend all your time killing bots, you will run into other pilots who will take you out quickly. Nobs will die constantly just like the bots.

This game will be the be the go-to game online for a significant period of time. I didn't want to make this call until I actually played the game on X1, but people will buy X1's to get into the action. This game is easy to get into, and very fun to play because it has options in spades!

The PC version seems to be going well also, but console gamers like to pop the disk in, or download and get straight to the action.

The game runs really smooth on X1. So I don't think having a PC version will give you any better experience, unless you are a kybr and mouse kind of person. I thing hosting the game on servers, goes a long way to keeping things solid. I believe a lot of 360 players will make the jump to get in on the fun with this game.

Ricegum4482d ago

A lot of people will stick with the 360 version of this game, instead of upgrading to an Xbox One. I think Microsoft dropped the ball here, they should have kept it just on Xbox One to shift more units, but it seems everyone I know is getting it on 360. It doesn't make sense to upgrade consoles for slight visual improvement.

Bigpappy4482d ago

It is not the visual, which will be better than 360's by the way, but the performance. I quit playing my 360 after skyrim, because I could see it was starting to struggle to run the new games. Animations seemed to be getting a bit sluggish. If you play this game on X1, you will see why a 360 version could not match it. I love my 360 and original Xbox, but technology has left them behind.

ger23964482d ago

Why not wait till after a month after release. Then we'll have an idea if it's an Xbox 1 system seller.

RadioActiveTwinky4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

Noobs will not die as easily as you say. That stupid ass Smart pistol ruins the fun for me. You dont even have to aim the damn thing. That right there loses its competitive edge. Attrition is terrible right now. I was in a match were my team did nothing but get bot kills and we won the damn match. Our avarage was 3 or 5 human kills. The opposing team had a player with 12 pilot kills another with 9 another with 7 and the last 3 with 3 a piece. Now how the hell did we win I have no idea. Those bots may not due much but they deff boost your overall team score in attrition.

Ive been playing the PC version since Thursday. I actually switched my K&M combo for the first time on an FPS. The controller is more beneficial surprisingly. It made it easier for me to move faster and the bumper jumper is perfect for this game. this is just me though. So what I am saying is try the controller on the PC version and see how you enjoy it over the K&M.

The PC version will also give you a higher resolution compared to the X1 and that res will deff be a factor especially when you want to tell the difference between a pilot and a bot at a distance. Unless you have that damn burn card that makes your character model a bot model instead of a pilot model.

Also the 360 version is what is going to either make or break this game. I feel them pushing the X1 version was a mistake in the sense that they are giving all this hype and the 360 version will blow. No idea if it will or not but, why spend 500$ on a system for just one game when its already on the 360. This is the mentality of the general consumer.

Editing to say that I am having fun with the game. I dont think it is the end all be all game though. They really overhyped this game a lot. The game is also not Revolutionary it is deff evolutionary in the sense that they added really good verticality to the game. The gun play is fun and the mechs are fun. Hawken is a good game to play if you just want mechs in an fps style. Its also free on steam.

strickers4481d ago

The PC version will give you a superior framerate and much better AA. ( if you have a decent one). The XB1 framerate is not smooth when it gets busy, often hitting 40s and sometimes 30s. Check Eurogamer.
However, I totally agree that XB1 version will run so much better than 360. If XB1 struggles, it will be mega choppy on 360.

Bigpappy4481d ago

I am playing the beta, I don't need to read anything for my view point. X1 is not struggling and is in fact very smooth. Titans are slower even on the PC version.

Titanfall is definitely a ridiculously fun game, no one can deny that, but it's not a revolutionary FPS IMO, I personally think Destiny is more ambitious as a whole in the FPS genre, but I do think Titanfall has definitely brought a lot of innovation to the competitive MP FPS scene(e.g. AI, Parkour, Campaign MP, Intros/Epilogues, etc). At the end of the day, it's a fun game and that's all that really matters in the end and I will be buying the game day 1.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1355d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1355d ago (Edited 1355d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp755d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
