Titanfall preview – super accessible Killzone meets Section 8 | pcgmedia

pcgmedia "It’s an awkward time in games journalism. When everyone is excited for something, and millions of dollars are being spent on advertising how innovative and wonderful it is, it’s difficult to go against the grain — especially when you’re trying not to be unfair. I don’t really know Titanfall, despite playing it for quite some time now. I don’t know how big this beta is in comparison to the full release, but what I do know is that based on what I played, Titanfall ain’t nothing special."

Would have to say I agree with him. Having played a few matches in the beta, it's a good game, but not in any way worthy of the crazy hype. To me it actually felt like it should've been a f2p game. In fact I'm pretty sure I've played f2p games that felt more AAA than Titanfall does.

Fluke_Skywalker4478d ago

Lol, I am hoping not lose too many. Just stating my honest opinion.

Team_Litt4478d ago

Not a Sony game, he is safe.

not exactly, people have been marked for less having opinions on this game I have noticed. People playing the PC version...

Yeah Team Litt he fits right in on n4g, hating on anything xbox related is a no brainer cause its not on ps4, I think it makes the lonely playing KZ SF feel cool, while 95% of the rest of the world with hands on Titanfall are enjoying the hell out of it. No worries no coincidence that the ones who dislike it the most and you would think should care the least keep coming back to Titanfall threads just to remind us "its not that good", lol so jealous like that party foul neighbor nobody likes but he keeps showing up to local gatherings just to stick is nasty fingers in the nacho dip. ughh, not again.

Titanfall is a awesome change of pace from the latest COD and feels much different than BF, to each his own they all have their place but Titanfall is definitely the next great shooter I can really get into.

Fluke_Skywalker4478d ago

I'm not "hating on it" though. I did enjoy it, I said it was a good game! I just really don't see anything worthy of the ridiculous hype it's been getting. It's good but nothing groundbreaking or original.

Hicken4478d ago

@4show: Yep, so filled with Sony fanboys running the site and bubbling everybody down that you've still got six bubbles and other xbox fans have even more, even though you constantly praise MS and have little to nothing positive to say about Sony.

This game isn't what people expected, and it's not what the hype makes it out to be. This isn't just the opinion of Sony fanboys; KNWS below is decidedly in the xbox camp, but is no fan of the game, and he's not the only one.

Is it fun? I have no doubt. Is it a game changer? Not even close. It's okay I'd not everybody likes Titanfall. I definitely wanted to, but it's not what I wanted; why does that make me or anybody else a fanboy?

If this your honest opinion then you obviously did not play the game. This feels more like an AAA mp game then anything released lately, definitely the most addictive.

RogueSmurf4478d ago

What has AAA got anything to do with the inherent quality of a game, other than its production values? Mechanics are what's important. Some of the best FPS' at the moment are not AAA. Insurgency. Natural Selection 2. Red Orchestra 2. If you rely solely on AAA gaming for your FPS fix, you're cutting off a rather large section of the industry that delivers mechanically rich, innovative, skill-based gameplay.

That said, not always easy to get these games on the consoles, and that's unfortunate. I hope that changes.

WeAreLegion4478d ago

Agreed. Fun game. Definitely Killzone 3 + Section 8. Maybe Starhawk and Brink influence in there, as well.

Fluke_Skywalker4478d ago

I thought it felt like COD and Mirrors Edge had a baby, then it was adopted by Brink and Hawken. Which on paper sounds pretty awesome.

Allsystemgamer4478d ago

COD+mirrors edge+ hawken/MECHWARRIOR sounds about right lol

TrollBusterPro4478d ago

Why do people keep approving Maria's anti-MS articles? Who is approving these things? Let me guess, sony supporters?

hello124478d ago (Edited 4478d ago )

I'm properly one of the most supportive people of the x box 1 on here and lot of people can testify to that.

So, when i say Titanfall is boring, i don't say it lightly.

The 6vs6 player count is way too low and the bots are a annoyance.

The best beta i have ever played was for Gears of War 3, i couldn't get enough of the beta.

I have played this beta and honestly don't get why this game was so hyped by everyone?

Its actually requires less skill to play then a game like Call of Duty.

WeAreLegion4478d ago

Hey! I'm in the Sony camp, but man do I love Gears of War. I love the campaigns even more than the multi-player. I sincerely hope Black Tusk does the series justice.

Gr1mmyshadows4478d ago

Why does everyone keep bringing b up the bots for, I don't see anything wrong or annoying with them. And 6v6 isn't that bad at all. Also I think cod is easier to play than titanfall.

Titanfall is wonderful and i have been having nothing but fun with this beta. Very excited for March 11

macusa224478d ago

It's more of a Starhawk meets COD

palaeomerus4478d ago (Edited 4478d ago )

Section 8, not starhawk. Starhawk is a third person game. Section 8 even has the jump jets and the mechs that you can call down. (Of course it also has the turrets and dispensor healer building gameplay. And tanks.)

Not that Starhawk and Warhawk aren't good.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1351d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1351d ago (Edited 1351d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp751d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
