So what is so great about this game that makes it a system seller or xbone saviour?
It looks great, certainly but to me, it does not look like a game changer or even a benchmark.
COD and BF already occupy the FPS space nicely. This just looks like another to add to the list, not stand out.
Please do explain to me why there is so much hype? It just doesn't scream next gen to me, like infamous SS, the Order, Watch Dogs or The Division, among many.
**** waits for the disagrees **** please explain why you disagree.

What's so hard to understand? A ton have people have played it, and they had a lot of fun... so much fun in fact, that they believe it stands out when compared to COD and BF4; two games that have waned in quality and innovation in recent years.

Many have said the pilot/titan dynamic feels refreshing. There are few games where the balance of playing on foot versus in a powerful vehicle has reached such an equilibrium.

It doesn't scream next gen to me, in terms of graphics. But it isn't the graphics that has people do exited. It's the innovative gameplay.

Thanks, they are very good points, don't get me wrong, I will play the hell out of this game, I never suggested it wouldn't be fun, it looks great.
I just don't think it's anywhere near as innovative, game changing or different as being suggested.
It's not that I don't understand, I totally understand, I just don't see why it's seen as a game changer.
As for the mechs v humans, there will be ways to exploit it, that goes without saying, just like there are 'the best' guns on COD and BF that everyone uses.
Your points, while logical and well said, still don't give anymore clarity as too why it is so hyped.
If the hype was because it's going to be an amazing online FPS. Then sure, it seems warranted but the hype this game is getting is beyond that, it is not going to live up to expectation. Sure the faithful will defend it and it's deficiencies, but it doesn't change the fact it does look very stale.

Well let me ask you this, what makes infamous so special? Isn't it just another open world game? Kind of reminds me of prototype, saints row 4, crackdown, etc. Aside from the graphics, what's next gen about it? Isn't watch dogs just assassins creed in the future? Isn't the order just a pretty 3rd person shooter?

Of course those statements are ridiculous, but my point is, all of the games you've mentioned, like titan fall, are simply building off of established concepts. But it all cases, there is enough 'freshness' to consider these games as a cut above the rest.

Titan fall is receiving the hype, because it IS a fresh take on the online FPS genre; A genre that's been stale for the last 8 years. It's incorporating elements that either A) haven't been executed well in online shooters or B) haven't been executed at all. Most importantly, it will likely force the FPS mainstays (COD, BF4) to quit playing it safe, which will be better for the genre in general. There's nothing more exciting, than having a new kid come stir the pot. Finally, some worthy competition.

I think you are missing my point completely.
I am not dismissing Titanfall, I am just stating it doesn't feel like a next gen leap, backed up by the fact it is being released on last gen.
All those games I listed do feel next gen, infamous and the order have next gen graphics, Watch Dogs seems like a completely new experience that, as silly as it sounds, feels very next gen and futuristic and The Division IS next gen,
Titanfall will prob be a 9+ game and deservingly so but nothing about it seems next gen, yes there are fresh elements which are exciting but no nothing about it screams next gen like the games I listed.
Sure you can say Infamous is not a new idea but the graphics are next gen, that's part of the experience.
There is no need to try and defend Titanfall as a game, it looks amazing but the hype is overblown.

mhunterjr4476d ago (Edited 4476d ago )

I get you point, I just disagree with it. according to you, Titan fall isn't hype worthy because a downgraded last gen port exists...but watch dogs gets a pass?

Oh I see, watch dogs gets a pass because it's a fresh new experience...that makes sense... but you're ignoring the fact that many people see titan fall as an equally fresh new experience for the FPS genre.

Your original comment was about how titanfall isn't a game changer.I'm asking you to tell me how Infamous or the Order change the game. If you're answer is merely graphics, we'll never see eye to eye. Graphics do not equal innovation. Those games change nothing. Of your entire list, the division is probably the only one that couldn't be ported to last gen, with more than a few visual downgrades.

Titan Fall hype stems from the fact that it is a fresh take on stale genre. And as such it IS deserving.Perhaps, hype for those other games seems muted in comparison, because those genres are already filled with quality alternatives.

WAIT! A game that is no more than a training ground for noobs and those that are terrible at FPS type games needs TRAINING MISSIONS so they can kills AI BOTS that are so dumb down they can't do anything more than move around like roaches? And there are so many running around you don't even need to aim you just fire your pistol in any direction for the one shot kill. As each day passes that the Titanfall closed beta is running this non paid hype information just gets more hilarious. Microsoft hypes Titanfall as a CoD killer on its xbox systems? HILIARIOUS! Lol,lol,lol....

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1347d ago (Edited 1347d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games
