Too Human developer not concerned with timing

Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack isn't concerned with the timing of the release of the Too Human trilogy - with the first game coming during the third year of the Xbox 360's lifespan.

"The engine is built to be scalable as well, so if another platform does come out, we're not worried about it," he told journalists at Microsoft Game Studio's recent showcase event.

Dyack thinks that Silicon Knights will be able to release all three Too Human games on the current Xbox 360 console.

Based on everything we've seen, its clear they have a big hit on their hands. The game looks great, the gameplay seems to be stellar, and they have such depth of play.

Look at the RPG elements, real customization. The themes and stories are unique and original. How awesome is the Spiders idea? Its like a familiar in traditional RPGs, but they have unique skills and classes as well.

The RPG elements are really starting to show through as we've seen more of this game. It is starting to remind me of Neverwinger Nights a cross between and Fallout in some ways. The developers have really thought through the RPG portion of this game. Having the project sit on the back burner until the Xbox 360 helped give them all a chance to *THINK* about the story. That long period (including the two earlier attempts to start the project on other platforms) gave them a chance to really decide what they wanted to build, and it is clearly beginning to shine.

Stellar graphics. 2 player CoOp. A deep and real RPG story and class elements.

After all the new details, this is going to be a great RPG-adventure.

Day one purchase for certain this August.

agree with everything but what about Fable? I think that might give Too Human a run for its money....

chaosatom3336582d ago (Edited 6582d ago )

"It is designed as a multi-platform engine, absolutely," Dyack said.

So there is a possibilty that this could come out on the ps3.

But still, I'll take Gears1 over this, then bioshock, then Too human, then Mass effect on the ps3.

Only time will tell. *sigh*

dachiefsman6582d ago

he was talking about the engine of the game and not the game...the article was relating to a new xbox hardware version..<xbox 3 or 720>....Too Human <IP> is owned by MS and won't be going to the PS3 any time soon...

Just go buy a 360 hell its only 350!!!

chaosatom3336582d ago

I said that there is a possibility meaning that it can be done if they want to.

get it now?

I listed the games that I think should go mutliplatorm in the order, not the games I wanted to buy.

Gears is only buy. For me, one game doesn't mean buying a new console.

"It is designed as a multi-platform engine, absolutely,"

"The engine is built to be scalable as well, so if another platform does come out, we're not worried about it,"

Looks like this might be a timed exclusive.

Microsoft has the rights to A game, not a sequel of the game. Chances are, most games use the same engine in their sequels, looking at Gears of War 2.

Just like their is a possibility of Mass Effect 2, or Gears of War 3, or Metal Gear Solid 4-5, there is always a possibility.

dachiefsman6582d ago

may I refer you to the post above...

Sci-Fi Futuristic Norse mythos just sounds too awesome. Still hoping we get 4player co-op but two is still gonna be pretty damn fun.

Fun fact: I'm one of five people to have completed Too Human and actually liked it. It should be noted that the other four ended up in mental institutions....sadly.

excaliburps2160d ago

I completed it and kinda liked it. Controls were iffy but overall, I dug it. Shame Dyack was crazy. xD

IanTH2159d ago

Glad to hear it! So, when did you get out of the institution?

Marquinho2159d ago

Too Human was "The Order: 1886" of the 360.

Nitrowolf22160d ago (Edited 2160d ago )

I have never played this, mostly because I didn't own an Xbox prior to a few months ago Def. will check this out

darthv722160d ago

It certainly has a cool story and its a good game. it was just marred by long development time and kind of egotistical creator.

Looper2160d ago

Hey!! I was told survivors had all signed an NDA! I'm telling!

Kribwalker2160d ago

i really liked this one too. Always wished for a sequel, but sadly i don’t see it in the cards

excaliburps2159d ago

Yeah, it had a solid story and game mechanics. I remember the controls weren't smartly implemented, and every time you respawned, the animation was so long.

Fantangoooo2159d ago

I can't count the number of times I finished this game gridding for gear. Weird control but I liked it

Neonridr2159d ago

sounds very Polybius to me..

Poopmist2159d ago

Me and my friend beat it so many times. I got the best armor mathematically possible in it. Great game imo but their needed to be more tutorials on how runes work. The one that spawns singularities upon hitting someone was cash.

DerfDerf2159d ago

I actually really enjoyed it.

RamRod882159d ago

I beat it too. The controls were weird, but once I got use to them it was okay. I found the story to be actually half decent. Too bad there wasn't a sequel because I really believe if they have fixed the issues the first game had(controls, camera, etc), it could have been a great series.

HyperMoused2159d ago

I though it was great too, yay us

Anomander2159d ago

Beat it as well. it had a good story line. Overall it was decent.

glennhkboy2159d ago

I remember that I played the 1st stage. The control was so bad that I couldn't force myself to continue.

morganfell2159d ago

Fun fact...you're actually one of six :) That game was the reason I kept an Xbox 360 running until they released the very last B/C titles and it was among them.

Chronicle7802159d ago

I thought the game was ok, clunky but ok. Every time I go back to play it though it takes 20 minutes for the controls to 'click' again. Pity most of the advanced combos and controls aren't listed anywhere in the game.

Phoenix Down 87.0 – Too Human

Denis Dyack would disapprove.

darthv722408d ago

I liked this game. It has it's flaws but the story and mechanics are pretty good. It still holds up today.

Kribwalker2407d ago

i really enjoyed it when it came out.

It was free recently on xbox through BC. Id love to see this revived but sadly i think the legal issues would stop that
