EA And Microsoft Need A Flawless 'Titanfall' Launch

By Erik Kain: "I have little doubt that upcoming competitive shooter Titanfall will be a great game.
Enough people have tried and loved it in its pre-release stage to give me high hopes for the final product. (I have not.)
Where doubt seeps in for me is the game’s launch. Publisher EA has had far too many launch issues for its recent AAA games to ignore."

Slevon4502d ago (Edited 4502d ago )

They are not using EA's servers, they are using microsof's. Yes it does need to have a flawless launch but just because EA is publishing doesn't mean it will effect them in any way
Edit: At least in the same way as games like BF4 and Sim city

EA & Microsoft money are a union made in heaven.

Titanfall is all set to be the game of the generation. Phenomenal graphics and gameplay that will make even the staunchest SDF fanboys jealous.

EA publishing & direction, Respawn game design experience, and Microsoft marketing budget will make this a success that will blow any other PS4 release out of the water.

1080p 60fps will prove the power of the XB One.

Sometimes journalists can be cynical about a game, but thankfully Microsoft have got them all on side with Titanfall by allowing them the chance to preview the great gameplay and try it for themselves on their very own Xbox One consoles!

People will play this game and say "this is what the next-gen was made for." It will be flawless. It will be perfect.

I admit that Titanfall looks interesting as far as FPS go, but "game of the generation"? I think that's going a bit too far

Utalkin2me4502d ago

@Cloudyday71

Might want to lay off the juice guy. Seems to be really affecting your brain.

DragonPs44502d ago

We don't know what resolution Titanfall will be running at.

pompombrum4502d ago

Titanfall won't be the game of the generation. It looks like a lot of fun but tbh, I think it will be a little too much like call of duty which will put people off or have them get bored of it fast.

Game of the generation so far is looking most likely to be Destiny imho.

Drekken4502d ago

Phenomenal graphics? Its running on a 10+ year old engine. You guys are so delusional. It won't be 1080p. You will be lucky to get 60FPS.

Take a nap, wake up, and join the rest of us in reality.

Game of the generation... lol!!

Hyperbole 2: The Sequel

MysticStrummer4502d ago

The gameplay looks a lot like Call of Duty. A lot of people will love that, but not everyone. There are Call of Duty haters on every platform. There's no way it will be Game of the Generation in any case, unless you mean your own personal GotG.

But, I don't agree with the article's premise because, also speaking of Call of Duty, when have those games ever had a flawless launch? It didn't seem to hurt their sales much, if any.

SITH4502d ago (Edited 4502d ago )

Titanfall alpha ran flawlessly. I never had a single issue except that the whole opportunity to play was short.

KakashiHotake4502d ago

"1080p 60fps will prove the power of the XB One."

I seriously doubt it. Yes it will run at 1080p 60fps on the PC version which I'll be playing but on XBox One it will no doubt be at 720p 30fps. 900p at best and that's a stretch.

DevilishSix4502d ago

Cloudyday 71 if you truely believe and it actually comes to pass that Titanfall is the game of this generation, then this generation will be disappointing for alot of gamers.

MysticStrummer4502d ago

"1080p 60fps will prove the power of the XB One."

Oh damn I didn't even see that part.

That's silly, given the age of the engine and quality of the visuals. If you think that proves XB1's power then you must feel that Forza already proved it.

QuickdrawMcgraw4502d ago (Edited 4502d ago )

What if Titanfall does not run in 1080p 60fps,but is really fun and great to play.Would that not be enough?

TheSaint4502d ago

Are you truefan in disguise?

Drekken4496d ago

792p confirmed. How smart do you feel?

Cloudyday714495d ago

@Drekken. I was confused to learn that Titanfall is 792p but Respawn have said that is just the beta but it will be improved for the final version - although it doesn't seem likely it will be a native 1080p.

However I have been watching a ton of videos of the beta and it still looks like it will be amazing.

Doesnt it get tiring to have to constantly say this "its running on MS servers"

Its like the people who write these articles. Or mention EA and there servers in conjunction with Titanfall are not in the know in regards to it NOT being on EA servers.

I agree a clean launch would be a MUST as this is a ONLINE ONLY game.

I myself will not get to upset as its rare that a game with a huge emphasis on MP has a clean launch.

Eonjay4502d ago (Edited 4502d ago )

Not really. Thats too much pressure. EA doesn't do flawless and we would all be crazy to expect that at this point. Also, don't focus exclusively on the Xbox One and neglect the PC. One game can not make or break a system.

Bolts-N-Rays11094502d ago

A flawless launch with an online game is basically impossible. There more than likely will be server problems on day one. Just anticaptiate it now. That being said, I hope I'm wrong and it has a smooth launch, so I can play all day.

snake_eater4502d ago (Edited 4502d ago )

keep fedding EA guys, keep pumping money into those assholes...

Eldyraen4502d ago

Heaven forbid someone actually likes the games they make.

They're not exactly my favorite company but they still release some good games now and again.

VENOMACR12274502d ago

I guess we'll just stop playing hockey, football, battlefield, mass effect (thats EA right?), and now titanfall. Sorry but some of the best games are made by EA, even though they suck.

quaneylfc4502d ago

Doesn't every company need every game to have a flawless launch.

Eldyraen4502d ago

They should but its not something to expect anymore unfortunately.

RoboticusRex4502d ago

Not as much as Microsoft needs titanfall to push their system. If it flops or has massive issues, it will effect xboxone sales.

quaneylfc4502d ago

it's sold about 200.000 copies up to now, is it on ea servers or microsoft servers?

Chanogram4502d ago

@quaneylfc
Pretty sure the game servers themselves are MS based . It will still tie into EA servers somehow with origin and what not though. As long as EA isnt handling the actual game hosting and has nothing to do with matchmaking, i think it will have minimal bugs.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1365d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1365d ago (Edited 1365d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp765d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
