In 2005, the video game industry brought in record profits of $7 billion, catapulting a business once thought by many to be merely "child's play" past the revenue of both the movie and music industry.
Entering into the busiest shopping season of the year, the video game industry is once again looking at record numbers, this time banking on two of its heaviest hitters, Sony and Nintendo, as both companies' prime new consoles for release into the American market in late November.
Ever since the launch of the original Playstation gaming system in 1995, Sony has dominated the industry. In fact, since its launch in 2000, over 20 million copies of the companies Playstation 2 gaming system have been sold, out performing the competition by a margin of two to one.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
"In 2005, the video game industry brought in record profits of $7million..."
Shouldn't that number be 7 Billion?
Factually flawed and filled with opinion. Doesn't help he posted it on this site himself.
I think the Dev's will be making most the money if you know what i mean.
I was in my local Target in the ATL just walking around near the LCDs just browsing and low and behold there it was, a PS3!!!
The demo version of an NBA game was playing at the time and since I’m not too big on basketball games I held the ps3 logo button on the controller to exit the game. While browsing around the interface I noticed a MotorStorm icon/picture and it turned out to be demo of the game. I was able to play the game on the only track available.
The game was awesome. When switching the view to the windshield the game moves fast and damn near realistic. Wow, it's too bad lunch breaks only last an hour.
First, I wrote it and ZeroTolerance posted it. Second, what oppinion? Everything is attributed to a source.
And the million, yeah it was a typo..damned stubby hands.
