Today Namco Bandai is launching an open beta for its new Ace Combat game on PlayStation 3.
Whether you’re a seasoned ace with countless dogfight victories to your name, or a new recruit with fire in your belly and a hunger for the skies, there’s no end of fun to be had in Ace Combat Infinity.
After four years of pitched online aerial battles, Ace Combat Infinity's live servers have been shut down by Bandai Namco.
Never played Ace Combat Infinity online because it seemed as though I had to buy things like fuel, I could have been wrong about that, but decided not to get into the game. Always been a fan of Ace Combat since Ace Combat2, favorite being Ace Combat5 then 4 then zero. Drawing a blank right now on Ace Combat3.
Saw an article last week stating that Ace Combat4,5 and zero are being considered for remasters or remakes for the current generation. The article was more of a job listing, so it may take a while to come to fruition if ever. Here's hoping that it does happen.
Never got into this tried but was turned off by the nonsense of MT involved with it. Cant wait for the new VR supported new game though.
Heart skipped a beat when I first read the headline. Initially thought it was talking about the latest AC in development (Skies Unknown).
A few days before PlayStation Experience, DualShockers reported on a leak of the announcement of Ace Combat 7 at the event, thanks to eagle-eyed Japanese dataminers that found out information about a related challenge in Ace Combat Infinity. The leak proved accurate afterwards, and the rest is history.
Starting today, you can actually take part in that challenge, and win four emblems themed after Ace Combt 7, with an event running until January 19th in Ace Combat Infinity.
Sounds like they are hoping to get some extra money from AC Infinity. They want people to start playing their free-to-play game so u can try earning emblems for a game that has no release date. More than likely you will have to spend money on fuel trying to earn those emblems, making Namco/Bandai extra coin. No thank you i will just wait for AC7 to release and be satisfied, I dont need any special emblems that Im not even going to notice as I fly.
A while ago, Ace Combat Producer Kazutoki Kono mentioned in an interview that a current generation Ace Combat game was being considered, and we might finally see the results at PlayStation Experience.
Some eagle-eyed Japanese fans datamined the files of the latest update of Ace Combat Infinity and discovered references to a very interesting event revealing the announcement of Ace Combat 7.
VR would be great but I would love to see an ace combat like the days of old. More like ace combat 5 the unsung war or similar to the free release infinity that came on PS3. With the power of the ps4 and the story driven ability of the older titles, we could see a true return to form ace combat. Add VR support and give us a great story and over the top action, im sold.
Ace 7 great ..i hope to be grounded with real world jets (as the previous one) ...but with a lot less ridiculous plot (not again bad russian nationalists and other dumb fk holywood ideas)
I would love that! Been waiting forever for a new "real" Ace Combat title.
Can't wait to see this reveal next weekend at PSX live myself if indeed true. Hopefully a playable demo will be there. One now my favorite Namco series.

I'd be surprised to see Ace go exclusive, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sony threw some weight behind the publishing and developing of it. Ace is one of the few games I thought would fit VR perfectly since it became big news.
the last game, Ace Combat Infinity, was also exclusive to the PS3 so wouldn't surprise me one bit if this is PS4 exclusive.
Bandai Namco made a few (Tekken Revolution, SoulCalibur Lost Sword and Ace Combat Infinity) F2P titles exclusive to PS3 because of Microsofts bizarre approach to F2P games. Also, F2P is a fairly lucrative business model in Japan, unlike Microsoft, so they didn't bother trying.
Bandai Namco is bringing One Piece to XONE. I doubt, without Sony intervening, that Ace will be PS4 exclusive.
Ace Combat 6 was exclusive to the 360. I just bought it used with the hopes of it being BC on the xbone someday.

Particularly with the PS4 doing as well as it is, I don't see why any mutiplat game going exclusive would be a surprise right now.
Can we please get a PS4 version of this!
I've been a sucker for Ace Combat since the original. I'm always excited to hear about a new one, although I have to say that Free to Play scares me.
Most of the fun of Ace Combat is unlocking all the different planes. I don't want to have to pay for planes.
Just finished playing the campaign and online co-op. One word: AWESOME!
Like my friend said from his japanese impression, it use the gameplay, story, & music from classic AC. So for you people who afraid it will use Assault Horizon gameplay, fear not because it's back to it roots!
Online co-op so far pretty smooth. Oh and it's dual dub too.
