CryEngine-based WW2 FPS Enemy Front gets Gorgeous New Screenshots

CI Games has issued a trio of screenshots from Enemy Front, its WW2 FPS being developed for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 using CryEngine, which – as the screenshots indicate – means that one can expect gorgeous visuals at the very least.

I really miss World War games... hope this game is gonna be good one

Whatsupdog4481d ago

Previously we had too many WWII FPS' and now everyone's moved on to the modern warfare bandwagon, which is again slowly changing to ones with scifi settings/ set in the future ones:-)

MadLad4481d ago

Yeah. It's all about sprinkling out a little bit of everything. Helps keep things fresh in the long run. Sad truth is, this is often times a very bandwagon industry and they will bleed something until the point where everyone is bored.

BiggCMan4481d ago

The thing with futuristic/sci fi games though, is that it's so easy to be different and unique, because that time frame hasn't happened yet. The developer can just think of whatever they want and have more fun I feel.

Whereas with old war shooters and modern war shooters, they really can't do anything but the same thing over and over because that's what war is, and it's all in the realm of what we know.

With the future, game makers can do whatever they please to be crazy as hell.

Look at how different Halo is from Time Splitters, is from Star Wars, to Mass Effect etc. They are all VASTLY different (maybe Star Wars and Mass Effect are similar), and that's why I love those types of games so much more.

Time Splitters is one of my most favorite shooters of all time, such an amazing series.

I like the "purity" of the weapons in WW2 games. None of this laser guided missile/gun-mounted grenade launcher/burst fire nonsense, and if you want any amount of accuracy, you gotta use a semi-auto weapon (assuming the game is remotely realistic).

BF going back to WW2 or Vietnam could really help everyone!

@Tvensky

YES! Vietnam especially!!!! Really looking forward to this - we need a good new WWII shooter. Cryengine is a solid choice as well.

Is was just thinking the same thing. I remember around the start of last gen (PS360) we were all fed up with WW2 shooters, but I really miss them now.

OT: Does anyone know a release date for this game?

Whatsupdog4481d ago (Edited 4481d ago )

Supposed to be out this year...Summer I believe.

Also yes, there has been a dearth of solid WWII FPS' past few years. Last good one I remember playing was Medal of Honor: Airborne (those helmet headshots!), though many may not agree.

sergons4481d ago

City interactive..." famous" polish devs. This game will be pure garbage, unfortunately.

esemce4481d ago

Oh no if it's City Interactive then it really is doomed to be junk.

Lets hope they hired some new talent for this project.

PurpHerbison4481d ago

I loved when we had too many WW2 games. I'd glady take that over modern shooters any day. Hopefully we get a good WW2 shooter this gen.

WWII Never looked SO GOOD!

please have some kick but Physics and special effects like damage, splintering, destruction and I will buy.

Red Orchestra 2 doesn't look this good but it has the special effects that add a tremendous amount of realism and that puts it over the top.

Ohhhh another WW2 game like The Saboteur?
I'm interested!

Hellsvacancy4481d ago

Xbox 360 and PS3 no thanks, it will look like dogsh!t on older consoles, why is this not being developed for next gen consoles?

I'd love a proper next gen WW2 game with crisp sharp graphics and a high framerate

epoxe4481d ago

Well, in their defense it is also on PC. Doesn't get any crisper or higher FPS than that.

SynestheticRoar4481d ago (Edited 4481d ago )

Yes count me in baby.

Jury4481d ago

I'm definitely down for this... But why not ps4? :(

dale_denton4481d ago

was thinking the same.. hopefully will be on playstation now

Enemy Front Review — paulsemel

Thanks to awful controls, stupid enemies, and tons of glitches, Enemy Front is the worst WWII first-person shooter since 2005's Call Of Duty 2: Big Red One.

Cex Review- Enemy Front

Sam Terry writes- Set in WWII, Enemy Front puts you in the role of Richard Hawkins, an anti-fascist war correspondent who finds himself caught up in the Resistance. Enemy Front is a visually beautiful game, and makes the most out of last gen technology. Unfortunately, a short campaign, poor voice acting, and a lack of online features let the game down.
