ExtremeTech tests Vista versus XP in gaming performance and in synthetic tests showing that the performance difference is negligible pointing to poor drivers accounting for the drop in performance when using Vista in it's infancy.

nVidia and AMD drivers have finally matured.

At one point, nVidia's drivers were so bad, they were directly responsible for 33% of all Vista crashes. That's crazy.

so now it is about the driver or vista?
vista still sucks?

hmm, no offense but maybe its not about Vista, it is shown pretty obviously

However impressive these results are, it's like comparing a PS2 to a PS1, since when does the predecessor have the technical edge? I'm sorry, I'm running Vista Ultimate right now, next time Vista inevitably crashes I'm booting up with XP.

"it's like comparing a PS2 to a PS1"

WOW, I guess you are not very familiar with OS cumulative and compatibility progression specially for Windows...cuz like it or not that is how it works

If your vista crashes, I dare say you are the cause.

Dont even listen to Tmac he is a sony fanboy. All he knows is Playstations.

Where are the top Microsoft haters when you need them? DJ... care to comment? It should be obvious that when a new OS comes out hardware makers need to fix lots of their drivers to work correctly... as they do... the OS become more and more stable... Vista Performed better on many games than XP SP3... will you stop the vista hate already? Losers...

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing27d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit27d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing27d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9227d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
