My take on it is this, the hardcore gamer is gambling on Microsoft if they get an x1. It's graphical power doesn't match ps4s potential, agreed. But the TV thing and kinect could have swung the tide if THEY DID ANYTHING WITH IT. that's my problem with my x1 so far, i gambled that cool stuff would happen with these features that ps4 doesn't offer, and the kinect could be a huge thing, but for right now, no one seems to care it's there (developers I mean), no one's taking advantage of it, and until someone does something amazing with kinect that ps4 can't do, it is just a gimmick. Anyways, just my 2 cents, not trying to step on my fellow x1 gamer friends.... Its still early in its shelf life...

are there any games out that are supposed to be graphics heavy like ryse. dont you think that the xbox one needed ryse to show hey we can do great graphic even though the machine cant keep up. what if ryse didnt look better than ps4 launch titles. then the xboxone would really be hurting. MS is in a hard position trying to convince people who dont caer about kinect that they should for 100 dallars. also the system has some problems and has turned away manay. not even sure if they can get their fans back .

i disagree that ryse is the best looking game. but thats his opinion and thats totally fine. one problem that isnt opinion tho, is that ryse is below 1080p/60. it further proves the point of a weaker system that an exclusive cant even provide those numbers.

The PS2 was weaker than both the Xbox and Gamecube but it had all the games.

I expect developers this gen to get creative in how they hide xbone failings. And MS will bleed money like crazy to incentive parity, create doubt through advertising, outright buy ips or publish them to legally lock them up.

Sony will keep doing what it's always done. Only this time they are already ahead. Once year 2-3 holiday hits - Sony devs will be utterly destroying xbone games. It'll be enormously apparent.

This will have a undeniable effect. Third party will flock to the largest playr base. MS will increase its money hatting. This will push shareholders over the edge at some point.

That will be interesting times at MS.

How is MS going to stop this? By spending money. And that is precisely what shareholders have been upset about recently.

No amount of talk is going to change the fact that Sony put out the more powerful machine, thats not debatable. Im just surprised how many people from M$ keep getting bated into these topics.

They should be trying to play to the systems strengths - aka the exclusive titles that it has. Instead they keep bringing up multiplatform titles, where the PS4 is always going to have that hardware/performance advantage.

I have always considered myself a realist or as they say "the proof is in the pudding" kind of guy.

With that said:
BF4, COD, and AC4 all had higher resolution on PS4.
AC4 had a better framerate.
Now we have TR:DE where the framerate on PS4 is 50 to 100% better.

It is safe to say, without even looking at spec sheets that show faster RAM and a more powerful GPU, that PS4 is topping the X1 in performance.

PS4 also tops the X1 in download speed from disc to harddrive.

Proof is in the pudding on which is better hardware.

When you tout a unique feature that works in one country. And is fundamentally superficial. It's a lame duck.

Where's the kinect launch title that shows how amazing it is?

Where's the tv functionality in Europe? Canada?

Whether Sega becomes successful is irrelevant.
Ninny & Sony with Sega collapse MS xbone and force MS out of the market.

Now you'd think that's not good for gamers. Because competition is.

But, look at what MS has brought us:
-pay to play online
-money hatting abuse
-forced parity in the 360 yrs
-stealth advertising (dirty, morally bankrupt advertising)
-ludicrous online pricing of games older than some kids who play on Xbox!

Sony isnt perfect. But by comparison they are saints.

The way I see it maybe all of this graphics stuff is getting overblown. The problem however with this Gen is the things that are being debated shouldn't be up for discussion, hence the reason to even purchase a new system. You don't buy the same thing again when you go and get he latest smart phone right? So this shouldn't be any different. MS has two problems here, one is the higher price which can be corrected on their end. The other issue is their PR that continues to bury themselves further with each quote. No excuse for a game not running at 1080p/30fps at minimum in this day and age, and that goes for both companies. I agree with 30fps/60fps being a design choices seeing that 60fps can make some games look too arcade-like. But that is what it should be a design choice, so when you see the same game running on two systems differently that is a problem.

They can defend all they want - people get desperate when the going gets tough and right now it is brutal for MS to see so much bad press with all of the games not getting the 1080p treatment or outputting 30 fps instead of 60. Everytime they come out and an exec tries to defend MS it just makes them look even more desperate and just really bad. They know they have a weaker system but what they should worry more about is gettiong the best games they possibly can get out of what the system has to offer because Sony is only going to make more and more games that look amazing. Wait till Infamous hits in March, then Driveclub and then the Order 1886, plus many more that Sony always creates because of how cutting edge and creative they are. So many first party studios and now the home for superior third party games. Yeah these execs should just save all of their energy and try to bring the best games they can get out because it is going to be a tough fight for MS.

i really did enjoy my 360 and i really want to continue with xbox but, at $500 and (hate to admit it)less powerful system, with a college student budget. ps4 is calling me.

Ryse is still the best looking game. Doesn't mean its worth €65. I have an xb1 and didn't buy it. I have yet to see footage of a game release or in development that visually looks better. Ryse looks like a movie which is its strenght but it also looks like it plays like a movie which is its weakness. I actually think Deep down looks great but do not like the look of its sluggish gameplay in the slightest.

Looks aren't everything but come on guys, it was better than any PS4 title in the looks department. I hate how full this site is of sony fanboys who wont give an inch to the xbox. Not true gamers at all.

Both PS4 and XB1 are great consoles. And have some great games coming out for them. The PS4 is more powerful hands down (as will be until Esram is mastered) but XB1 have the best exclusives coming in 2014 by a long shot.......a really long shot.

TLOU is the best Sony exclusive I have ever played since the PS1 by a long shot and made the Sony name look great in 2013, but 2014 will be MS's year - though you won't admit it.

Hmpf! The visual accomplishments of the Ryse game don't prove the parity of graphical capabilities between Xbox One vs. PS4. That's faulty logic. Rather, it proves that Crytek did an excellent job programming on the Xbox One. The most reliable way of comparing the graphical strengths of the Xbox One vs. PS4 is comparing the same game done on both systems (multiplatform games), though the comparison is best done later on in this console generation to give developers time to figure out how to optimize each platform.

Look it's simple. First off I own a Xbox One, and will get a PS4 when I'm good and ready. I don't care about game companies, b/c they don't care about me. They want my money plain and simple...

MS knows they cut too many corners on the Xbox One technology, b/c they had to keep the costs down. Why? b/c they packaged in the Kinect 2.0 w/ every system.

They probably didn't realize they either A)Underpowered it too much that 3rd parties would have difficulties running 1080p/60fps or B) didn't realize that they made it too hard to program for to reach 1080p/60fps in the same time frame it takes PS4 games to get there. Which is not good for multi-platform games. PS4 will have the edge in performance.

For me I don't care, as long as the frame-rate is smooth and that means locked at 60 or 30 I don't give a F**k. The only way I would notice is if I had the same game running side by side, which I never will. Same goes for the graphics department, 1080p is nice, but I really haven't seen any game on Xbox One retail I would consider with bad graphics, and X1 had the launch game with arguably the best graphics in Ryse, which only ran native at 900p.

Obviously games can run 1080p/60fps on X1, because some of them do Forza 5 off the top of my head proves it can be done, just not nearly as easy as the PS4.

MS knows they underpowered the system...Gamers know they did; it all comes down to whether you give a crap or not...

I bought X1 first simply b/c I like the MS exclusive line of games more. I don't care as much about 1080p/60fps as much as I like a smooth game playing experience with great graphics.

Pretty much all games will deliver that this gen, just that much more on the PS4 than the X1. Not to say 3rd parties wont be able to do 1080p/60fps on X1 it will just take more time for them to find was to do it faster and in a more efficient way.

But, to each their own buy the system you like the exclusives best. If that's both of them like me, it's that much better...no need to pick sides play them both!

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.

I hated that he died. The game was good but you never want to see a character you can relate or enjoy to die off like that. We wanted more Joel not less. Still a really good game but that part will always sit poorly with many

Not gonna lie, I think they made a big mistake. I mean I like a big unimaginable shock moments as much as the next person. It was just too soon though. If you’re going to kill off the main character you need a solid back up that people love just as much to carry the weight of the loss. If you’re setting it up for a trilogy then he really should have died at the end of 2 or half way through 3.

Who cares, that was like 6 years ago.

I don't mind the story, I think it is interesting in its own. But I would much prefer it stays as a story between Joel and Ellie (And I don't hate Abby, but it just feels like a third wheel when I play the game, feel like it is not a story about her). Joel can live with the consequences in a different way than just get killed off, his emotional conflicts between him and Ellie, Abby and everyone else would have a lot of interesting stories to tell, not any less than just get killed off.

So we as players, who controlled Joel in the first game, can get immersed and feel the guilt with him, instead of getting angry that he got killed.

TLOU Part 2 was a great game, but the entire game made me mad

Personally I liked that they killed off Joel, his death scene was great. The story was good and how revenge drives a person. The last quarter of the game was dumb after Tommy told Ellie where Abby was located. She leaves the farm goes in an arduous trek killing many more people along the way. Finds Abby in a cage releases her they fight, Ellie gets two fingers bitten off, and suddenly she doesn’t want to fight and kill Abby anymore, lets her leave with a warning even though she was the one losing the fight. Why go the rough all of that hassle just to let the focus of your hatred just leave. Should have stwyed home with Diana and keep all her fingers intact. Still a great game with a good story and I liked Abby I saw no reason for all her hate.

They could have killed Tommy and made it a revenge story with Joel and Ellie going after Abbie.

ND was trying so hard to make me sympathize with Abbie and it just wasn't working. I just don't understand how you make a "revenge is bad story" while having me mow through hundreds of NPCs just to get to the main culprit and just...not finish the job. Druckman is a terrible story teller.
