I never use my real name, it just never feels right & annoys me. It's always Cloud, Link, Zidane etc. OCD central.
Back when I played original, pre-expansion, EQ I had a Dwarf named Atbar Drinken. Other than that I usually create names that actually suit the game setting.
I usually either use the preset name or a 'fantasy' version of my own name. If I get a companion like in Dragons Dogma I'll just make something up. My poor pawn wound up being called Sugar Feet and looking like a female version of a titan goon from Batman.
ive used my dogs name (Neo) in D3...used alias from members of the WTC in DCUO, borderlands and games like that i just roll with the characters name
I always use my girldriends name :)
