Streaming or compute, you're gonna need decent internet that doesn't drop. That's pretty much it. Many still don't have the luxury, me included.

When infrastructures finally retire copper cabling(for good)in favour of fibre then it has a chance to be 100% viable on a large, large scale.

My brother has worked overseas in Afghanistan and Kuwait and has told me stories that validate your comment; PS Now may be a service that may not be fully-realized in third-world countries for the immediate future. But again like all great things, it will proliferate in coming years, and knowing Sony it will grow and improve faster than one would normally expect.

Many countries have retired copper and use fiber now. if you live in America I feel kinda bad because the FCC really screwed you over.

No the cloud only works when it has been proven to work And this is cloud GAMING it's been around for a while now and has been proven to work and people don't believe in Microsoft's cloud because Microsoft said the cloud could make the xbox 4x stronger and that's where that " teh powerz of the clowdz" joke came from, there cloud has yet do anything they said it would that's why nobody takes microsoft's cloud seriously. But playstation now(gaikai) has been proven to work.

Cloud streaming is something different compared to cloud computing. OnLive and Gaikai did streaming for years now and have proven that it works.

Cloud computing in the way pitched by a certain company isn't proven at all and so far nothing more than PR talk.

It would work eventually but not as soon as some people think to it.... It's not only the matter of having a good internet connection, it's also a matter of ISPs playing nicely. Most ISPs see gamers as second rate customers so we are the first to take the hit when they have bandwidth issues and need to restrict users.....

Sony is going to have a lot of people using Playstation Now at launch, which means they need to prepare their infrastructure now.

If SimCity, Diablo III, Battlefield 4, and the PS4/Xbox One launches have taught us anything, it's to be ready when millions of gamers go after the same service all at once.

Because its an OPTION. Its not being forced. Nothing is stopping me from grabbing my ps2 and putting any of the games they are putting on PSnow in it. They arent grabbing PS3's 2's and 1's from anyone who has one and destroying them to force people on psnow. Options are good.

No people said using the cloud to 'boost' graphics and make there console more powerful by using the cloud will not work. as someone who studies networking and computer hardware myself i had a chat with my tutor, a 30 year plus networking and hardware professional also agrees and says microsoft is talking a load of crap.

Youre lying or need a new tutor quite frankly.

If AI and physics calculations are done by the cloud, then the Local resources that would have been used are now free for other tasks.. Hence boost performance..

But suddenly bandwidth for a small part of a game is impossible.. But yet you all seem to think that sony can pull off streaming an ENTIRE game..

People seem to forget when the gameworld is running on the server.. Using the same server to populate the world with AI doesn't require anything on the users end..

Its not p2p.. Maybe that's where people get confused.. I dunno

@N4rc nope im not lying you just dont understand computing and networking like you just said. sony can STREAM a game because thats what its doing streaming, streaming does not need to be 100% perfect because minor data losses are unnoticeable thats why all streaming is done by UDP instead of connection guarenteed TCP very easy to pull off actually all sony need to do is get the i/o control latency down to a consistant level and all is ok but with XBone you dumb xbots think that the internet can some how boost the calculations of your graphics card this is not possible end of story.

Oh and Sony proved Gaikai at CES, Where's Microsoft's proof of Xbox Live Compute boosting the capabilities of the console?
