everquest 2 has a better shot , but no Elder scrolls online may fail out the gate although the concept behind it is awesome

have a feeling ESO will fail pretty fast, i dont even think its the right kind of game to compete with wow, wow is dying slowly anyway its been around a long time now and is bleeding subs every week.

Wow has soo much content its really easy to justify the $15 a month. All these other MMOs come and fail because they are asking the same premium and only offering 1% of the content.

Wow is definitely past its prime theres no doubt there but yet nobody else can even defeat the crippled old man. Blizzards project Titan may be the wow killer. Either way blizzard will remain MMO king. Pretty safe bet.

Edit: I just remembered jay Wilson got moved to project Titan. This could go either way he is awful.

WoW still has 7.5 million subs each month and that won't be easy to beat.

It sure is a lot further down now from when it was in it's prime with 12 million, but every company can only dream of having even the "low" 7.5 million.

Having to buy a game and after that pay for the subscription was acceptable when WoW came out, but that was 10 years ago and times have changed. There are many quality free to play MMOs out there now and many games that launched with subs in the last few years had to change to free to play.

The WoW domination will stop atvsome point but I do doubt it will be this year and Blizzard will have the best cards with Titan to do that if they can convince the majority of the WoW players to change and gather new players at the same time.

WoW will never have a "killer" because the MMO genre has expanded too much for anything to ever reach those heights again. WoW came at a time where MMOs were just maturing and brought the experience to the masses. Now there's just too damned many MMOs and everything is been there done that.

I just hope ESO is good enough to find long term success in a subscription model. Because free to play (aka pay to win) is just detrimental to a good experience imo. I'd rather pay $15 a month for a full experience than grind 10x as long as someone shelling out the $100s it requires to advance quicker.

It's going to be a job killer. The people that made this game are going to lose their jobs over it. :)

Im sorry but if you like MMORPG and want to play an amazing game its WOW. I quit 2 years ago but ive tried many MMO's since and they are all horrible in comparision. WOW has got the gameplay down idc what anyone says, its a great game if you are searching for an MMO. All the other MMO's i played are all so clunky and the gameplay is pretty awful where you click 5 buttons max and have 7 bindings. The world in Wow is all open and pretty much play how you want PVP or PVE. No game is going to beat wow the only thing that will beat it is TIME. I am waiting for Titan since its Blizzards game and is supposed to be another WOW, so i wait patiently.

Not sure about it being a WoW killer but I did play the Beta for ESO (Just this weekend in fact) and I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly. Zenimax did an excellent job, looking forward to playing it again.

Can we stop with the WoW killers? WarHammer Age of Reckoning tried and failed despite having better graphics and a strong focus on PvP. Aion tried and failed, despite better graphics and aerial combat. TERA failed, despite much better graphics and a more action-focused combat system. Star Wars TOR failed to kill WoW despite having one of the strongest brand name and an experienced developer. LOTR Online failed as well. Even Guild Wars 2, a successful MMORPG in its own rights hasn't managed to take down WoW. FF14, also a successful game, hasn't taken the crown away from WoW. EQ2, which came out around the same time as WoW hasn't taken down WoW. Rift didn't do it either. And the list goes on and on, World of WarCraft is in a league of its own, there's simply so much content, and the game has had almost a decade to refine itself; it won't be killed, it'll simply die a slow death.

Not only will TESO not be a WoW killer, I think the MMO bubble basically burst. WoW dominated the genre for so long that WoW fatigue is basically synonymous with MMO fatigue. There's many genres that offer a similar experience to MMOs without being such a huge time sink or requiring a subscription, and I'm positive gamers in this new generation are going to be VERY demanding of quality for their money.

I don't think we will actually see a WoW killer for a few years...not until a developer actually makes a new refreshing mmo that nobody has ever seen before. Everquest Next looks pretty interesting, but we will see.

Seriously notice how itis always the press that says "WOW-Killer", and thus enticing the addicted Fanboys of Blizzard (Not fans mind you just the rabid ones) to go rage on a forum.

Thus laying every little fault of a game under a magnifying glass and ruining good games rather than to appreciate a game for it's own merits and qualities.

No it isn't a WOW Killer, and who cares that it isn't! As long as the people that play it have fun!
