Capcom: "Panta Rhei Can Be Adapted to Anything;" Deep Down's Engine Is Multipurpose/Multiplatform

Camcom’s new engine Panta Rhei looks extremely powerful, but apparently it’s also extremely flexible: Senior Manager of Technology Management Masauru Ijuin described what the publisher’s new technology can be adapted to.

Well now I look forward to hopefully seeing it used to make Dragon's Dogma 2.

Make it Happen Capcom the first converted me into an RPG lover :)

abzdine4515d ago

make Maximo with that engine please and you will earn my respect again Capcom

FamilyGuy4515d ago

Monster Hunter on next gen consoles would be nice. Seems Capcom just don't know what to do with their best IPs. MH would looks amazing with this engine though.

scruffy_bear4515d ago

Total agree Dragon Dogma was a nice surprise

Smashbro294515d ago

So it's MT Framework all over again?

Kayant4515d ago

Yes but only for Next-gen platforms. Apparently MT Framework will still be used for current-gen & mobile/handhelds.

Baka-akaB4515d ago

Well why not ? MT framework was quite used , except in the cases where it would be crap . Here to hoping it's truly multipurpose and wont have to rely as much on say an unreal engine

christocolus4515d ago

Wow .i would like to see capcom or ms develop an exclusive xbox one game using this engine also resident evil 7 would look so amazing running on this engine.

MasterCornholio4515d ago

They already had an exclusive Xbox One game and that was Dead Rising 3.

Seems fair to me Sony gets Deep Down and Microsoft gets Dead Rising 3.

christocolus4515d ago

Lol..who is talking about who has what? Im talking about an entirely new ip developed using this engine for the xbx one. Ps4 may have deep down but that doesnt stop ms from funding another game or licensing the engine. We have seen how good it runs on ps4 now all i want is to see is how well it runs on the xbx one too. Who ever makes the game isnt really my concern.just saying.

Sevir4515d ago

Yeah but that wasn't using the Panta Rhei engine. It was using a ported MT Framework from the 360. As it was originally suppose to release on 360.

MasterCornholio4515d ago

Sony helped fund the development of this engine which is why Deep Down is exclusive to the PS4. I doubt that capcom will produce another exclusive for the Xbox One unless its another dead rising. I'm pretty sure that the first game made with this engine on the Xbox One will be a multiplatform title.

"We have seen how good it runs on ps4"

It does look good on the PS4 but that doesn't mean that it will look the same on the Xbox One. Everyone knows by now that the PS4s hardware is more powerful than the Xbox Ones.

Hercules1894515d ago

So is the power of the PS4 the reason why Killzone Shadowfall blasts Ryse out of the park. Wait no it doesnt I thought with all this power they have their exclusives would look a lot better. Oh well at least you can have a few extra pixels and a couple extra frames.

MasterCornholio4514d ago (Edited 4514d ago )

@Hercules189

The power of the PS4 is why Killzone Shadow Fall runs in 1080P 30-40 FPS and it looks better than Ryse (according to polygon) which runs in 900p with an extremely shaky 30FPS with dips to 16FPS.

I dont understand why you won't accept the truth. The PS4 being more powerful than the Xbox One shouldn't decrease your enjoyment of Xbox One games but it pays to be realistic on the differences between multiplats.

christocolus4514d ago (Edited 4514d ago )

Omg.. whats with you? I dont give a damn who is more powerful or if sony funded anything.as i said before i just want to see it run on xbox one.

Capcom has stated it is compatible with all next gen consoles(that includes xbox one).so all im saying is that would love to see something cool. Ryse looks really awesome but pantha rhei on xbx one should be able to produce something way beyond that and i would like to see it.

By the way sony didnt help fund the development of the engine. They only assisted capcom with the development of the game by assisting them in getting the engine to run on the console. Its same thing ms and nintendo do with first, second and third party devs.ms also did this with capcom for dr3 and nintendo did same with platinum games.

Capcom fully owns the ip and the engine dude and stop with all the "my console is more powerful than yours" talk and try to reason along the same path with me. Honestly i dont care about all that.im only stating what i want to see on xbx one.(a game developed using pantha rhei). Since pantha rhei is replacing the mt framework this gen im very certain resident evil 7 and all the other next gen multiplats from capcom will be developed for ps4 and xbox with it.

SynestheticRoar4515d ago

Waiting for Capcom to mess this game up with abundance of DLC.

Fishy Fingers4515d ago

It's F2P. Expect to pay for everything other than the bare bones. From swords to pictures for your apartment.

Personally I hope they allow a one off "unlock everything" purchase (if the game lives up of course).

LightofDarkness4515d ago

They might, but it's unlikely. They'll probably have a "Platinum" package, much like Warframe et al, where you can pay about $99 for all of the best updates/gear and such straight off the bat that are available at launch. Then they will keep adding better gear and such to the game which will be charged at a separate premium.

Funny how F2P often winds up being more expensive than the standard purchase model for people who are actually interested in purchasing things.

Take note, Sony, you're falling behind by a lot.

-Foxtrot57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

I was just going to say this, their biggest and top rated game here is TLOU2 for PC….it’s embarrassing.

Even Ubisoft and EA are ahead

Kind of surprised Nintendo is pretty low aswell, their biggest game is also a rerelease with the Switch 2 version of TotK.

StoneColdCrazy57d ago

That’s what happens when you start shutting down your own studios and forget what actually made you matter in the industry in the first place. Sony used to set the standard — now it feels like they’ve lost that identity. And if they decide to walk away from the PC market too, that’s going to be another huge mistake — that platform is only growing, and ignoring it now would just put them even further behind.

1Victor57d ago

@christopher:” Take note, Sony, you're falling behind by a lot.”
.
Why single out Sony? Microsoft didn’t do any better than the year before 5th same as Sony 9th and they have acquired activision and other mayor titles that have boosted their score massively from a 9th and Sony a 4th the year before the acquisitions.
Sony does need to do better without a doubt and I do hope they do take note but not the note of buying publishers is the way to succeed.

Christopher57d ago

1. Microsoft didn't get worse.
2. Sony got way worse.
3. Because Sony needs the criticism the most considering their publishing output this generation has been propped up by last gen ports and third-party developers for the most part.

thesoftware73057d ago

1Victor,

I don't wanna speak for Christopher, but like most of us we recognize that Sony's output this Gen has been way below their own standards.

Also Sony did buy a fair amount of Devs, I know you will say they were not publishers, and don't compare in size, but they had their fair share of Aquisitions, including the very well established Bungie.

The overall point is with their stellar first party track record of the past, they should not be going down, they are singled out because they are some of the best videogame devs/publisher on the planet...no matter what reasons we attribute to the situation, they are moving in the wrong direction... period.

57d ago
KyRo56d ago

Its widely accept that Sony this generation has been underwhelming. We've had more peripheral releases, controller variants, PS5 accessories than games it feels like. The exclusives were also PS4 and what little output they have put exclusively on PS5 is nowhere near as memorable as what came in every generation before that.

This isn't a Sony hate post but anyone who's older and has been around for a long time gaming will agree that PS5 is by far Sony's worst generation. As much as Xbox is in the gutter, I pray the do bounce back in the hope we get Sony to wake up again.

darthv7256d ago (Edited 56d ago )

If you want to critique MS... you are doing so towards their management. The games output and their hardware have been much better than PS this gen. Sadly... people still hold a grudge against XB because of MS. Thankfully i am not that petty... I've been enjoying their games output in the drought of PS. And add in some NS1/2 games as well to balance things out. Things will change for me once Wolverine hits, and I start using my 5 more. That one I'm looking forward to. And the Marvel fighter... I'm not a GTA player so that has no bearing on my view of things.

Big part of that has been the live service push resulting in cancellation or flop after flop but when they put out the games their fans want we get amazing stuff like astro bot

Leadership really screwed the pooch trend chasing

Well I apologize I was wrong about not doing worse but my statement of Microsoft getting a boost still stand 🤷🏿

1Victor57d ago

Well OBSCURED unlike you I’m honorable enough to recognize when I’m wrong and apologize.
.
@ The software you know there’s no comparison between what Microsoft acquired and what Sony acquired that’s why you tried to get ahead of the conversation, yes we all know Sony can do better than what they have done this gen but they inhaled the poison GAS they thought would bring money for years but we make sure they got the message and quite a few games got cancelled you know as well a hit like that take years to be corrected and by now they hopefully will have taken steps away from the GAS and slowed their approach to them.

You will say anything when you are in denial that your hardware is dead and nobody wants your platform. Good luck with Helix because nobody will buy it.

But... but... the garbage-mongers always tell us that Square Enix is in trouble! 😂

Christopher57d ago

Square doesn't help that it fear mongers itself with ridiculous 'goals' that they can't reach and then they proclaim failure if they don't reach it. They're quite freaking profitable and people act like they're dying.

SimulationDaily57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

Keep in mind that these "proclamations" are usually third-hand bad translations from somedude who was at the investor conference, posted on Twitter, and picked up by press and youtubers like they were gold, and then when the official translation comes out, they're much softer statements, but at that point, the damage is done.

gold_drake57d ago

to be very fair

being number one on these things does not indicate how "well" their games do selling wise.

Capcom Insists It Won't Use AI-Generated Assets in Its Games, Will Harness Tech during Development

Capcom has clarified its current stance on generative AI in its videogames. The major Japanese publisher and developer behind popular series like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter has revealed that while it doesn't use gen-AI assets in their games, it is exploring ways to use generative AI to streamline the game development process.

Chocoburger57d ago

Using Artificial Intelligence (more like Realistic Stupidity) art assets in your games is a great way to get people to boycott your product. We don't need that ugly, unsophisticated, generic, fake art in our games, good on CAPCOM for not using that garbage.

blacktiger57d ago

Naw you can't fool us, You work with Nvidia, that's a fact! And here you wanted to advertise but now look stupid!
