Capcom's Senior Manager of Technology Management Masaru Ijuin is very proud of the results achieved by the Panta Rhei engine, and especially of the level of visual realism that will be reached in the upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down due to it.

Yes yes but what about microtransactions? are you going to incorporate them in the game? if so then screw you

Abriael4534d ago

So terrible of a company to want to make a from its work buck :D

Screw them indeed :D

Bundi4534d ago

Wait, Capcom are known to be underhanded and greedy on this site, are you defending them because this is a ps4 exclusive? Be honest now...

Hey aren't you the guy who almost always posts Deep Down screenshots, making sure to ALWAYS mention that it is a ps4 exclusive and that said screenshots are one superlative or another?

Kryptix4534d ago

@Bundi

Aren't you the guy that kept rubbing the fact that Final Fantasy XV/15 is also coming for the Xbox One though Square Enix hasn't made a great FF in a while?

http://n4g.com/news/1428398...

http://n4g.com/news/1428398...

You do also realize this game is also being co-developed by Sony's studio of Japan which also co-developed Demon's Souls? It might end up being on par with that game which is a good thing and it's free, too.

pedrof934534d ago

@BUNDI

Capcom is greedy ?

You have no idea how the real world works do you ? People need money to survive.

And about Abriel stating that Deep down is Ps4 exclusive all the time, thats a bit trivial isn't ?

mikeslemonade4534d ago

If it stays PS4 exclusive mikeslemonade=happy

Bundi4534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

@Kryptix, what does Final Fnatasy have to do with Capcom and Deep Down? In fact, what does what I said in ONE article have to do with anything?

Do you think you have made some sort of point? Because I am wondering how you think two comments, one of which is me simply saying that my console of choice is ready for a multiplat game, disproves that
A; Capcom has been said and proven greedy with their dlc practices numerous times and
B; Abriael almost always calls every screenshot related to this game spectacular or fantastic or amazing, whilst also making sure to include in the headline that it is a PS4 exclusive...like there is any other Deep Down out there.

@Pedrof, no the trivial thing is mentioning every single time that it is a ps4 exclusive. Having said that, I'll ask that you refrain from sending me a list of exclusive ps3/4 games vs xbox one/360 because I know you are prone to doing that with people you deem enemies.

Visiblemarc4534d ago

Making money is one thing...ruining a game with microtransactions and pay-to-win is another. If this game was full retail, I guarantee you I'd have it pre-ordered as we speak. That's $60 I'm willing to give them, right now. So clearly, I don't have a problem with them making a buck.

I do have a problem with them being willing to put off 49 real gamers for every 1 "whale" that is willing to waste $10,000 on F2P IAPs.

Not saying this is happening yet, details are sparse, but as a rule of thumb "F2P " ruins fun.

CrazedFiend4534d ago

@BUNDI

Did Abriael write the story? No
Did he decide on the title of the article? No

He just submitted it. Should people start rewriting the articles the submit so you can feel better about it?

Don't know. Don't care.

Kryptix4534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

@Bundi

I was just pointing out your hypocrisy. Doesn't matter if he keeps adding "PS4 exclusive" to everything related to Deep Down, isn't it still a fact that pertains to the game? I see the words "Xbox Exclusive" to every Quantum Break article but nobody's bitching about it. Notice how you became so defensive when you did the same practice twice on a different article, reminding everyone that FFXV is also on the Xbox One. Which further proves how much of a hypocrite you are when you pointed out what Abriael does.

Jack_Reacher4534d ago

How can anyone disagree with you.
Really you want all these for nothing. Some of you need to stop gaming once in a while and join the real world. Things cost money. Grow up.

To be honest I like the idea of getting it for free then paying for what I want when I want it. Worked for me in warframe so far.

Bundi4534d ago

@Kryptix, what you are spectacularly failing to grasp is the simple fact that Abriael has a massive boner for this game/console, evident by the headlines he keeps writing for the game and so it isn't entirely surpising that he is defending capcom in this instant.

To compare over 10 articles with said superlatives and ps4 exclusivity mentioning at every turn to JUST 2 comments in which I merely mention that FFXV is coming to Xbox is absurd and borderline retarded logic.

Abriael4533d ago

@Bundi: I'm a gamer. I have a boner for every game that looks awesome out there. Regardless of platforms.

Got a problem with that?

MonChiChi4534d ago

Of course there will be. I just hope they handle it properly.

Kayant4534d ago

Yep :) People seem to forget development cost money.

thehitman4534d ago

exactly some people are just idiots. Its F2P ofc they will have to have a model to make money. Not all microtransactions are bad. If you can play a full fledged game free of cost and I can pick when I want to put my money in thats a bonus for me. As long as they dont hinder your experience unless you pay its all good.

360ICE4534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

Obviously, yes. Or at the very least some sort of premium membership subscription. It's free to play.

I_am_Batman4534d ago

Do you realise that it's a free to play game?

snake_eater4534d ago

oh its f2p? then it's acceptable i guess. I thought it was full priced game.

harrisk9544534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

Then don't buy them. This is free to play game.... i guess you expect them to not try to make their money back. Why would any company make a product with no way to make money on it? Gamers: this single most self-entitled group of whiners in the world. smh

More to the point. Microtransactions are fine, depending on how they are implemented.

Jughead34164534d ago

Well, the game is free so I'm sure ther'll be microtransactions.

I'm excited for this game and all but dang, how bout a release date.

princejb1344534d ago

I will pay an equivalent of $60 for micro transactions since it's f2p
That way it gives me the feeling I payed full price

Spinal4534d ago

Sorry but the Gameply looked Horrible. anyone who is honest with themselves would admit that.

It look like they are going with Graphics over Gameplay. Huge mistake.

Jack_Reacher4534d ago

Why would you think your opinion is better than anyone else. You have seen very litle of this game to make such an assumption. And to think you think that your the only one around here who is honest shows a lack of maturity that does not surprise me.

CynicalKelly4534d ago

How do you expect them to make any money? This is a free to play game. Microtransactions are basically required to be in this game. Just hopefully handled right.

Microtransactions are only bad when they are in retail games that we have to pay for.

FamilyGuy4534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

It's a free-2-play game, how else would it make profit if it didn't have Microtransaction? Donations?

You sound like a complete...
First comment in this post an you didn't even know it was f2p before spouting negativity? lmao

I guess it's not your fault, expecting you to know the basics of every game that gets mentioned of this site is ridiculous, my bad lol

NeoTribe4534d ago

Did you expect them to throw millions into development and give it to you for free? Dont get me wrong, i hope the microtransactions are fair and not rediculously overpriced, but its silly to think a free to play game wont have transactions to make some form of profit.

Swiftfox4534d ago

I haven't been able to trust Capcom for a long while—let alone with a free to play model. Although we don't have details, I have a pretty good idea this game will be similar to other online based free to play games in Japan.

Players will be given an allowance per-day of how many dungeons they can go into. The allowance will either recharge 1 after a few hours or a full reset at a given time. Players will have the option to buy more credits to go into dungeons with real money. Equipment, your character, even your own profile level will take years to level at free-to-play speeds, and higher levels of certain things may be locked behind a pay-wall. In some cases you may not even to able to beat certain bosses until after you've payed to unlock higher levels. I'm also guessing there will be a drop system where things only drop from missions and bosses at random, but you can only use the item if it has dropped a certain number of times—completely RNG based. Of course players will be given an option to unlock and use the item instantly with real money.

Again, the above is just a guess but it is the standard of free to play currently in Japan.

PSVita4534d ago

If they do end up putting micro transactions in there you should demand a refund! In fact you should be paid 10 times what you originally paid for it just because you wasted you time on it!

dodgemoose4534d ago

dear god, just stfu you fool

Evilsnuggle4534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

No one knows if this is going to be a free to play game in the USA and Europe. Free to play is very popular in Asia . The game could be a full retail games in the USA and Europe. If Capcom is smart deep down should be a full retail game in the USA and Europe. Free to play is not very popular on Gaming consoles in the USA and Europe.

stavrami-mk24534d ago

can't wait to play this and delete it 2hrs later due to the same f2p gameplay that is in every other f2p game

4534d ago
Studio-YaMi4534d ago

I agree with you on this bad trend of f2p games which I do the same thing with when I game on my PC,but let's at least wait for the game to come out and hope for the best.

stavrami4534d ago (Edited 4534d ago )

Sorry I disagree I hope it fails and all f2p fail on ps4 miserably. I would like for devs to realise we are willing to pay full price retail and are not prepared to be milked like a farm yard animal to keep up with others who have spent cash in a who has the most disposable income battle. No thanks

IWasHere4534d ago

Last screenshots didn't look so impressive.
I have my doubts.

Edvin19844534d ago

The game is f2p I don't see a issue micro-transactions. I been playing games like that on the PC for a while. They usually let you play from start to finish without paying you just gotta grind more, but the dang game is free. However, if the game becomes impossible to play with out pay than it flops. So its on them plenty of other games to play, and it the mean time I will give it a try when it ships.

Layden Has 'No Idea' What Happened to Capcom Deep Down Game

I thought this looked fun. I hope they do something with it eventually.

Rangerman12081740d ago

From what I have read, they wanted to delay the game to make the graphics "realistic". Imo, the game already looked good as it is. My guess is that perhaps they shifted their focus for a ps5 release but only time will tell.

Michiel19891739d ago

considering it looked basically better than any other game in that trailer, they were probably too ambitious. They also wanted to have endless dungeons, have several historic periods that they wanted to realize, infinite randomly generated loot. its not being made for ps5, it went in the dumpster, no way capcom would let them work on it from then on until now. it was like 9 years ago or something that trailer came out?

Ashunderfire861739d ago

I remember seeing demo footage of this game on the PS4! It already look like one of the best looking games on the PS4, like a prenext gen game before PS5.

Shinox1738d ago (Edited 1738d ago )

This was never meant to be a game and it was more like a showcase for their engine "Panta Rhei" that they never used in any game ( which probably named RE Engine now ) , yes this project was meant to be a low budget free to play game for the PS4 and planned to release in Japan but all of that was canceled in a matter of few months , this whole project has been silently canceled long long time ago and people does not know Capcom well when it comes to sideswiping projects

Giraiga131738d ago

@Shinox if what you said is true then that's a big shame really. I was really looking forward for the game, and it had some cool ideas and mechanics that caught my attention (though making it a F2P title was somewhat worrisome).

darthv721739d ago

I always thought it was because of this games questionable development that they were able to do the deal for SFV in its place.

SyntheticForm1739d ago

As far as I'm aware not a single game was developed with the Panta Rhei engine. Some aspects of the engine may have been folded into Capcom's current engines, but who knows, really?

I thought it looked really good at the time it was shown.

Giraiga131739d ago

Agreed. The game had a lot of promise, jankiness aside. Plus, I sorta loved the survival horror aspects of the game in certain areas.

ManInRed1740d ago

Still sucks we haven't heard much from it. Really liked the concept behind it, and I feel like I was one of the very few who liked the game's music. A shame it's in hiatus as of now.

Sciurus_vulgaris1740d ago

I think Platinum has been overextending itself for a good while now. Scalebound was canceled after missing deadlines and Bayonetta 3 has shown nothing since its announcement in 2017.

Sciurus_vulgaris1739d ago

Posted my comment on the wrong article..,

Rangerman12081739d ago (Edited 1739d ago )

Like Darkborn said, you still have a good point, even if it's not related to this newspiece.

Sciurus_vulgaris1739d ago (Edited 1739d ago )

@Darkborn and Rangerman1208

I think Deepdown's disappearance is simply due to Capcom focusing resources on their already established IPs ( Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and too a lesser extent Devil May Cry). Despite the vaporware nature of Deepdown, Capcom has been doing quit well for the past 4 years or so.

TheExecutioner1739d ago

even capcom doesnt know .. no one knows what happened

Rangerman12081739d ago

Honestly, I want to believe the game will happen but after what happened with Wild, who's to say Capcom won't consider on pulling the plug on the game?

A shame cause the game looked very interesting.

Barneyco1738d ago

Excuse my ignorance but was Wild cancelled or delayed? I didn't hear news about that.

Barneyco1738d ago

I looked Wild up. I had no idea it was cancelled last year. I was looking forward to it.

spicelicka1739d ago

It's quite deep down this game

hulk_bash19871739d ago

Deep down seemed like Vaporware from the start. There was never anything shown beyond the initial reveal trailer.

Yppupdam1738d ago (Edited 1738d ago )

There is always games like this that look cool and excites everybody...and then it disappears. Look at "8 days", everything about that game looked as cool as hell, The Story, Ving Rhames as one of the characters and pretty cool game mechanics (of what video leaked out of them) That game still stings to me, I really wanted to play it.

Giraiga131738d ago

Same thing with The Getaway for the PS3. I always wanted to try out English GTA from Sony, but it sadly never came to be.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 1738d ago
DVAcme1739d ago

While the game never came out, I don't think it was time wasted. If you look well at how the camera follows the character and how it moves around during "gameplay", you'll notice it's spot-on identical to the camera in Resident Evil 2 Remake. Deep Down might have been cancelled, but it most likely became a proof of concept for Capcom in development of the REngine.

Magic_Spatula1739d ago

I always thought it was a tech demo never intended to become an actual game. Pretty sure it's just them showing off what would eventually become their proprietary engine Reach For The Moon Engine or "RE Engine" as most people call it.

danglyparts1738d ago

capcom calls it the RE Engine, because thats what its called

Giraiga131738d ago

To quote from the other guy, it's definitely likely that Phanta Rei probably transformed into the RE engine. Still, it sucks the game might not see the light of day, especially considering how ambitious Capcom was with it.

Capcom Renews Deep Down Trademark

_SilverHawk_2175d ago

Hopefully its still in development and will be released on ps5 because deep down trailer looked amazing when showed years ago

Sonic-and-Crash2175d ago

i hope this to transform to " Dragon s Dogma 2 Deep Down" ....would be smart move and excellent to revisit DDogma elaborate world

Lore2175d ago

I’m hoping for both

camel_toad2175d ago

Capcom is really sitting on Dragon's Dogma and I don't get why. It was an out of nowhere fantastic game.

They need to come out with the sequel already.

Hakuoro2175d ago

That's actually what I always thought, that it was just a code name for a Dragon's Dogma game.

bouzebbal2175d ago (Edited 2175d ago )

heard good things about DD.
didnt have a chance to try it, so i hope the series gets some love cause i think it was successful.

Michiel19892175d ago

@sonic I rather hope for a Monster Hunter deep down, that could be amazing

Army_of_Darkness2174d ago

It's probably gonna be a ps5 game now.

nitus102174d ago

I will agree Dragon's Dogma is an excellent game and having the ability to climb on huge enemies is fairly unique, however, I really hope that Capcom (if they make DD2) reduces those "escort missions" or at least makes them much more interesting. Of course, if I hear "Harpy!" one more time I am going to scream.🤪

Deep down, it’s just vapor ware..

NVMGaiden2175d ago

Absolutely, I'm more interested in games that exist like Pragmata and Resident Evil 8.

Yui_Suzumiya2175d ago

Those are two games I'm most excited for as well

NovusTerminus2175d ago

Renewing a trademark is a sign of life because they cannot just indefinitely renew it, they only get so many renewals before it is rejected and open to the market again.

Relientk772175d ago

Good, hopefully we see Deep Down on PS5.

Kavorklestein2175d ago

I kind of have a feeling that Deep Down was put off until new hardware because the Quality of what we saw in the trailer looked like it was causing major frame issues and stutters on the PS4 the time.

The PS5 may finally be able to handle the visual goal of what they were going for.

drizzom2175d ago

Actually would like to see it on PC too.
