Alien: Isolation has been unofficially tasked with wiping away the dirt that was Colonial Marines. There’s seems to be a stark difference between the tones of Isolation and Colonial Marines, in the same way that Alien and Aliens were utterly different. Isolation isn’t playing it safe however. Survival horror is a slowly dying genre, only kept on life support by mostly indie developers and nostalgia, and in the grand scheme of things it is seen as something of a niche market. In that regard, there’s an element of risk to Isolation‘s concept

An opinion piece on the best Alien games. From arcade Alien vs Predator action to a terrifying Xenomorph stalker, these are the best Alien video games starring Ridley Scott’s chestbursting, acid-blooded nightmare.
Aliens Fireteam Elite was my GotY in 2021, single player was kinda bad but playing that game 3 player with friends was so good and really challenging on higher difficulties
Massive shout out to Aliens Vs predator 2 (2001), a dialup lag filled fun mess in multiplayer and 3 great campaigns

Alien Isolation Grand Mother VR is an all new virtual reality experience for Creative Assembly’s best ever horror game.
I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.
Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.
Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.
It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!

The Alien franchise has had a long history in video games, but few games have come quite as close to being perfect as Alien: Isolation.
Hope it's scary, can't be arsed with more boom boom bang bang Alien games
What game isn't a risk? Maybe staple sequels to high selling series, but they were all at one point a risk and nothing says those are fool proof either. Like a lot of things in life, you never know what will happen until it happens. I sincerely doubt notch made Minecraft expecting it to be this huge thing, yet it happened. Likewise, we've seen several games expecting to have sales / success that just never happened for one reason or another.
I'll wait for reviews.
But please dont screw this up because I'm dying to play a good alien game.
It's a dying genre because no one knows how to do them right anymore. The talent just isn't there unless you look at a few indie games. Some say it's marketing and demand for the big companies. I don't believe that.
I think this is less of a risk actually. This is what the movie was all about and the games should follow suit if they want to be successful. I am certainly keeping an eye on this game.
This is the game that alien fans have been waiting for true survival horror. Hopefully it will wipe out the memory of that colonial marines afterbirth.
