IO Interactive revealed today that over six million people have enjoyed its latest Hitman game, Hitman: Absolution.

Feral Interactive will release IO Interactive-developed stealth action game Hitman: Absolution for Switch on November 13 for $29.99 / £19.99 / €24.99, the developer announced.

When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.
You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

The last 10 years of Hitman have been full of highs and lows. And David Bateson and Jane Perry have been there with the series through this eventful decade.
Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.
Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
Didn't matter they went too long without consistent revenue. Blood Money was a big deal and the size of the workforce on a title like that suddenly being deprived on reasonable income for the length of time it took K&L to become established as a seriously bad idea meant serious layoffs. Hitman Absolution also took a few wrong steps. It should have come out kicking and screaming with demonstrations of huge levels, clever AI, player freedom and inventive kills. Instead it put all its bets on making an angsty bald superkiller a legitimate character even though they don't seem to have the writing talent to do so, and more importantly don't have a snowball's chance in hell of standing out in today's stealth/action market.
Blood Money marketed itself on a shot woman laying in a bed with the caption "beautifully executed" which kind of tells you the focus of the game. It's not a bald barcode wearing hero with the stoicism of a rock, but rather the interesting worlds he infiltrates and the people he puts down in them. And of course - the methods of murder, of which there are many.
