Ryan Scott Dancey, project leader on the upcoming Pathfinder Online MMO and former GM for CCP, has defended subscription models for online games in a guest post on MMORPG.com.
Speaking out after recent criticism of The Elder Scrolls Online's model, Dancey highlighted the continued success of subscription plans, emphasising the need to combine traditional models with micro-transactions.

I agree with the points being made and yeah the Subscription model works and after revealing the budget of the game they'll be doing the subscription model for a while.
But to justify it to the Console gamer isn't really going to be easy. But yes games like Realm Reborn have a very strong community and subscription basis right now. But I think they might need to consider reducing the price a bit for console users. Or else they'll be seeing a massive decrease in subscriptions unless they're able to keep the game up to date with content to justify the subscription basis.
I've played the Beta and the game is designed for consoles... The combat and the overall feel of the game has a bit of a controller need to it. I know a lot of my friends feel the same way playing the game on the PC and it's a bit irritating.
Also the problem with this game is they're selling the MMO community but they still need to sell the Elder Scrolls fans a bit more because it does feel like an ES game but they have gone a bit dark with info on the game.
Pay To Play >>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>> F2P
There isn NOT one decent MMO which is F2P.
