So he keeps doing what he did with CoD.

-Foxtrot4554d ago

I get the feeling it's too try and put off people who say they will be getting the PC version instead of the Xbox One.

Driving as many sales to the console instead...

decrypt4554d ago

Its more about control and taking away rights.

You see in a console environment there is no question of mods, devs rather sell DLCs.

Its one of the reasons why devs try to hype console versions, they know its to their benefit in the long run to not have games supporting mods.

However it should be noted some of the best games of our times first came into being as mods:

CS, TF2, L4D, Portal, Dota, Dayz. None of these would exist had it not been for mods. Devs alone can never get as creative as an entire gaming community coming up with new ideas, not to mention devs dont want to try new things as they dont want to risk messing up the existing forumula, this approach however limits gameplay to the same old same old.

That makes zero sense "Well because it doesn't ship with mod tools I better just get a Xbox One instead"

@lets_go_gunners

Hey I didn't say it was going to work, I'm just saying thats probably why.

They are probably doing as much as they can to make sure the Xbox One version sells the most.

I've seen a lot of people on here and other sites saying they'll get the PC version instead, what if this is one of their stupid ways of trying to counter block that. You know what EA are like, they do have an exclusive contract with Microsoft, I think with the predicament they are in, most likely gutted because they didn't think the PS4 would of done as well, are trying to make the most out of the situation

Rubberlegs4554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

No its because EA is the publisher and I'm sure they will be pushing out dlc packs just like they do with the Battlefield games. The first two Battlefield games had great mod support, BF3 an BF4 have zero mod support.

B-radical4554d ago

If that was the case they could easily just do what happens with gta and release pc version later

kevnb4554d ago

shareholders don't understand the value of mods.

its EA with this stupid new policy in not supporting mods in any of their new games, after crisis 2 i didn't see any mod support for newer games

DanielGearSolid4554d ago

I genuinely hope Titanfall 2 flops on PlayStation consoles... EA already "f*** gamers we'll take the money". There should be some sort of repercussions

Godmars2904554d ago

I'll be more bothered if the game is nothing more than a COD clone with a short interest life. Its fanboys will never admit to such, only defend it as the rest of the market stops buying it.

Regis4554d ago

Why have mod tools for this game and for what? To mod your weapon damage? Beside it uses cloud saves so modding this game is not only hard but ridiculous.

Godmars2904554d ago

Was thinking more in terms of being able to make your troops into bikini clad anime catgirls.

Irishguy954554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

....Seriously? Console kiddies don't have a clue do you?

Why don't you go and look up Countersrike. Or Killing floor. Or how about modding in general? You don't seem to have a clue to the greatness of modding.

Just please take some time to understand why PC gamers love mods.

Hell, you must have even heard of DayZ recently no? A military simulator game turned into a Zombie apocalypse multiplayer survival game.

Rubberlegs4554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

It would be more for maps and new game modes. People could design complete new game modes with modding tools. Look at Battlefields Desert Combat mod, DICE ended up hiring the team that worked on that to help make Battlefield 2.

This is how it use to be with PC games until publisher starting pushing for dlc. Some of the most popular multiplayer games (Counter-Strike, DoTA) on the PC started off as mods, you never had to pay a cent for new game modes or map packs.

webeblazing4554d ago

youre dumb. do you even know how mods work. and what do cloud saves have to do with mods. please people if you dont know anything dont say anything, im tired of people spreading BS and the fanboys following what they say like the sheep they are.

I played Quake 3 Arena for like, 10 years. Almost entirely within mods. The whole competitive scene thrived on a mod too.

I'm still looking forward to Titanfall, but they are going to have to get the core game spot on if they wont let the community refine it.

It's an EA title, so no surprise. After all those pesky mods could risk their steady stream of DLC-money...

The_KELRaTH4554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

So true and yet it was a mod for BF1942 (desert Combat) that was instrumental in the development of future BF titles.

I suspect Titanfall will start off with that so called free pre-order map then follow on with pre-orders of the rest of the future map packs.

_QQ_4554d ago

So i can't shoot people up as batman?!?

Godmars2904554d ago

Or jump into a Titan painted as Vultron.

Jovanian 4554d ago

Mods are always important imo, but if they can't do it at launch then whatever

Just be damn sure you add in an FOV option, or we're gonna have a problem

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1382d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1382d ago (Edited 1382d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp782d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
