It is a lot easier to surf the web on your PC. The picture doesn't look very good anyways unless you have an HDTV.

Microsoft's PC software is too incompetant to run internet explorer properly. Combine Internet Explorer's garbage quality with the quality of Xbox 360 and you get one steaming big pile of garbage.

Also games or internet? I choose games a console does not need a browser, the 360 is very well equipped with a full arsenal of games and features and the lack of a browser is pointless.

This is a healthy addition, why would so many people see this as a negative, don't use it if you don't like it, personally I think it is a great thing, besides I don't want my Xbox-360 hardrive being corrupted by temporary internet files, I will let my PC do the virus/spyware scanning and firewall activity and let my Xbox-360 do the streaming, it called an entertainment hub, e.g you can download way more movies off the internet than you can the marketplace or PSN, and the quality of the streaming is superb.

I use to use my internet on my ps3 until I got my HD 32in tv and connected my computer and my ps3 up to it so there no point in it now. Its good to use when your looking at movies/vids and you can blow it up full screen on your tv. Its also good for dling content like themes/mods and just recently I seen the first game integrate it with registration(MGS4 beta).

But anyways that sounds too much like a hassle to get it 4 360 I just 4get about it if I had 1..

No thanks, I'll just browse with my PS3 or PC. If the 360 can't have this out of the box and with no need for a PC then I say boo on MS for not thinking about the end user and what THEY would like in their console. Why not offer it up? It's just another option and to have it on the consoles is a cool thing IMHO.

And since my Ps3 is my main game console and has a browser - admittedly slow as - I'm not going to be booting up the 360 just to browse the web. I'm sticking to my Linux PC for that. Plus the memory limitations on the console mean you can't have many pages open at the same time - a huge firefox tab browser fan here.

And I'm sure the 360 will have similar limitations. However, most owners would likely have a Windows PC as well, so no loss there. Just browse on the PC.

I even responded there. Go look at the moderation? By using your Xbox 360 as a Windows Media Center Extender, you are *in effect* doing just as he described, but WMCE is a vastly more elegant and functional solution. Never mind that, this site mods that idiot garbage up, and votes my point down.

Sour grapes, just sour grapes. The fact is that Windows Media Center is an EXCEPTIONAL platform for all manner of TV-Centric experiences.

As a plaform, WMC is incredibly compelling -- there is nothing else in the market like it, and its going to really be great as we move to the Internet age for TV.

I think that console browsers are awful, anyway. I've yet to see one that I actually like.

I think its great in my case. I now have internet access in every room in my house now with the xbox 360's. From my bed room to my sons room to the den. I have the MS Keypad for my controllers so typing is a breeze. The only thing is I am having problems typing numbers in. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? My son loves this feature. He can visit gaming sites or basketball sites in his bed room.

I'm actually using my elite 360 hooked up to my 61 inch 1080p tv right now, on News4gamers. Sitting back in my living room. It looks amazingly sharp and you can zoom in on web pages on the fly. Pretty good stuff.

So while it might not be a big selling point for the average consumer. I absolutely love it and it works for me and my family.

P.S. sorry ive been away for so long. My son has made the big time with basketball and we've been traveling all over the country. I miss this site but I won't be able to frequent it as often as I used to.

This has been around since the start of the xbox 360 .An xbox 360 magazine ran it on one of there free DVD's that came with the mag about a month after the 360 was released give or take.Its crap .thats my opinion

But the point here is that MS doesn't won't you to browse the net without a pc. They are protecting their pc OS business. Thats why they haven't included a web browser as default in the 360.

Both Wii and PS3 have one, but MS have chosen to not include one. Do the math yourself...

first of all mr "dlim..err..slim daddy"..no cvc on the market will upsample to 1080p...to 1080i yes. This again is not much better then 720p actually. And as for the web browser in the x360 why not just another feture that is there for ppl to use if they want. I have all 3 systems and each one has it pros and cons. As for my uses for each are varied. I use all 3 on my home net work and can see them(3 computers included) on my 61inch lg plazma or my 32inch lcd in the bed room. Yes i have alot of toys ..so many infact i have some in the boxs that i havent got around to using yet. This web browser may be useless to some but many can get use outta it. Kudos for MS for giving the end user options.
