At least from a player perspective, Dragon Quest X appears to be moderately successful for Square Enix. A total of 300,000 people are playing the RPG every day, producer Yosuke Saito has said.
For regular DS and Wii. This is also for Wii-U.
But even then, I think this game's online service is run by Square Enix, not Nintendo (hence the monthly fee). Not 100% sure about that, though.

I think there are millions of fans out there waiting for a full-fledged single-player Dragon Quest game on Sony platforms. Some online features could be added (aka Souls series.) sure, but focus on 60hrs hard-core single player with decent scenario and story writing and fast turn-based combat system please :)
Good news it's coming to PC. Now an English copy would perfect.
