i participated to this success, but i am mega disappointed by this game.
the MP is just shit unenjoyable experience. I am a BIG Killzone player from the previous ones (even Liberation) and i can tell that Shadow Fall should have been called Hollow Fall...
Completely soul less, much less content than the previous episodes.
Clear downgrade and i'm waiting for patches and DLCs to bring back the fun i have been used to and also bring the soul of Killzone back.

Stop talking about SP, it's not MGS story and it will never been (in any shooter)... it's all about the MP in these types of games so talk MP instead.

I enjoyed it alot and am very happy to hear it's a success. Hears hoping whatever GG is working on tops it. Greatness Awaits

Either your joking but I don't think you know what a good story/storytelling is because Killzone SF did it poorly. The premise is basic with the execution a mess (for one it ignores the context/world it lives in)

I don't want to be a dick, but I think if there where more launch exclusives from Sony it wouldn't have sold as much. From the choices of knack or kz I think most people picked up kz especially after the knack reviews. I think if drive club also was released, it wouldn't have seen as many sales, or infamous, or gow etc. But kz is a solid game, I'm not trying to put down its achievement, but kz games never sold all that well, but since there was a drought in ps4 exclusives it did great.

@abzdine I agree 100%. I was disappointed by this game. I expected much more. The MP is not enjoyable for me. I'm glad that others like it, and happy it sold well. I was just not a fan at all. I think the reviews are justified.

Theres something about the helghast I find really intresting. Would love a game from there perspective.

Personally I think killzone would make for great blockbuster movie its all there !!.

On topic kz:shadow fall is awesome definantly got underrated by reviewers iv said it before but if it was called halo boom automatic 9s atleast !! But no its called killzone Hence the multitude of 7s that rolled in.

Killzone is really something special. Truly next gen. 1080p unparrelled fidelity. A master piece.

^^^ The answer is, both consoles launch games were pretty average. None of them had a 'good' game. Even BF was broken. I'm not surprised to see people defending KZ. Fanboys do not judge a game based on it's quality.

Not really, he said it was the only game available to PS4 owners worth buying, and that is why it is the top selling exclusive...
So I was wondering what games are better on the X1 and why aren't they selling better? It seems to me none. I wasn't excusing the fact that the launch lineups are average.

Killzone has the appeal of graphics and that it is a known franchise. And knack is an abomination, people didn't buy a Ps4 to play last gen games on new hardware, they bought it for next gen games -> Killzone.

The X1 games are all equally average thus there is no disparity between the games people buy.

Ps4 has one game that stands out(and happens to be poor anyway). And X1 has a few games and none of them stand out(yet again all are poor). You will have people picking between the Racer(Forza), the action game(Ryse) and the zombie game(dead rising).

Ps4 has Knack and KZ. The choice is obvious between those two. The rest are indie games and free with Ps+.

Then there are the multiplats which again fall in line with my first two points(There are more of them, and they are all last gen games with updated graphics, no one is buying a new console for those games.)

If the X1 had nothing but Ryse, and then some other crap game like knack, Ryse would easily match KZ in sales. Ryse also has the appeal of graphics.

Also no one expected Killzone to be this bad. Kz had a ****load of preorders before launch. It looked like it might end up decent unless you had a brain and could see through the pretty graphics(GG added bullet time and see through walls to the gameplay, they also made it faster and even closer to COD. They also thought climbing up a wall was something special. It just shows how ****ing brainless the game designers at GG are. They have not one inkling of innovation in them, pulling features that have been abandoned long ago back out and acting like it's something new, its nearly as bad as COD and it's fish Ai)

Having a greater variety of crap games doesn't excuse the fact they are all crap... Killzone appeals to people for one reason or another, hence the huge per orders and sales. No I am not saying anything about it's quality, but you saying the reason there isn't one great selling game on the x1 is because of better variety is not true! If one of those games appealed to the masses it would be bought up like crazy, just like Killzone SF... There is nothing on the X1 that has any appeal to the mass market, or is any good. The total pre orders and sales of X1 games were always horrid, with Killzone matching all of them COMBINED!

I do agree though that Killzone is insanely generic and lacking innovation, I wish GG would just move on to something else.

I love it. I love the direction they took the multiplayer, taking focus off of k/d and leveling and putting it on gameplay and teamwork. The spwas nice too, I liked how they opened it up and gave us more option. And its gorgeous. Small complaints are once again...the writing. For a civil war, genocide themed story, it couod have been really powerful. Also, while a little harder than 3, the difficulty is still quite scaled back from 2. Maybe an elite difficulty would have been nice.

I am pretty sure they will patch many things in, especially some mutil aspects that made 2 so amazing. One will b leveling I am sure. I have no problem with it...just keep the focus on team play and strategy...or have leveling based on classes or perks based on teamplay.

Last issue is trophy related. I don't go after every platinum but I love Killzone and the helghast etc. And I have the other two. I think they went the wrong direction with the trophies. They should promote variety but without forcing ppl to play in a way they may not want for so long. I have no issue with the time dedication, just make it simple...play for so long, play as each class for so many games etc. But allow each player to choose how they play. I know its optional but its hard to ignore. Overall though, I love it. Great job Guerilla!!!

Yeah, the way Shadow Fall works well out of the box is more than we can say for Battlefield 4 or CoD: Ghosts, given the history of recent patches (and apparently BF4 is still crashing). Ghosts had to have 1080p functionality patched in post-release, which is downright ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Shadow Fall does 1080p native with a framerate that still maintains 45FPS and above, usually hovering right around 60. This is a launch game, so it gives me hope for the future of this console generation.

Actually, I would easily recommend Battlefield 4 (even with its problems) over Killzone any day.

Take the campaign. Killzone: SF was absolutely derivative nonsense. The plot was terrible, the characters were weak, the on rails section were especially weak (shoot the linkages on a train with a minigun)apart from the one where you're holding on to a rope on a ship flying around (shown at E3). The enemy A.I was terrible and I can't think of any memorable moments apart from the one above. And wtf was up with the last encounter? One of the most terrible endings to a game. I played it on hard and thought to myself, this has to be the CHEAPEST way to end a game. Halo 2 boss battle...all is forgiven... Seriously, how on Earth anyone thought that would be a good way to end the game is beyond me. *Semi spoiler alert* Let's throw as many enemies at you as we can, all magically spawning at the dropship pad in front of you.

Seriously, it was a poor game even by early last gen standards. The only thing going for it are the great visuals.

BF4 on the other hand, whilst it had a derivative campaign as well, actually had some memorable characters with some great voice acting (like the black guy from the Wire) and the developers tried really hard to make the characters grow on you. The destruction was brilliant, it offered a less linear experience, although it could have taken this further. *Semi-Spoiler alert* The choice presented to the player at the end was actually tough. The bronze to gold assignment element was fun.

The MP- I mean come on...its so basic. The classes aren't fun, the maps are hardly memorable. I played it a lot thinking I'm missing something but no. Seriously, there are only 3 classes compared to the multitude available in the previous games. Tell me, how is this not a poor man's COD with a different skin? It just has no identity of its own.

Ignoring BF4's problems for argument's sake (I have spent hours on it btw and am aware of the problems), it completely demolishes Killzone in every aspect:

Weapons- loads of weapons with attachments
Maps- Huge maps with destructive environments, dynamic events etc
Vehicles- enough said here

Killzone cannot compete at all with Battlefield. Killzone: SF was rushed to launch, that much is obvious especially when you look at the lack of basic features like voice chat or the features GG will be adding via patches.

I honestly don't understand the appeal. It was a derivative bore-fest. Hand on my heart I tried to like it. I mean, I queued up at midnight launch and bought that game hoping Killzone would finally win me over. I was talking to the developers at GG at the launch and you could tell they were a bit reserved about the game too.

Riiight....so I assume you haven't even got Battlefield 4 then? Why would I Google search it when I have played several hours of it? Is it unplayable? Of course not. It crashes here and there (a lot more stable since Wednesday's update but yeah, still not excusable). However it wipes the floor with Killzone- I'd rather play a decent game with occasional problems than an average (and average is being generous imo) shooter.

But BF4 is no gem to praise either...i have yet to beat the game because when i finally feel like playing the SP ,my save data has disappeared.

Not to mention the spawn system in Team Deathmatch any many modes with smaller maps is a joke....they constantly spawn enemies behind you.

Not to mention the map design, Did they design the maps with campers and snipers in mind only? There are maps where players can lock themselves on the roof and just snipe everyone below....the hatch to get on the roof can only be opened from the top.

BF4 shines when it comes to game modes involving vehicular combat but most every thing else falls flat when compared to previous BF games.

If KZ is a poor mans COD what is BF? a rich mans COD? cause BF4 reminds me of Call of Duty more than any other version before it.

Dont get me started on the lack of party/squad system prior to joining games.

Say what you want about KZ, but do not say BF4 SP was better. That was one of the most generic campaigns I've ever played. It's down there with COD ghosts.

You said the enemy A.I is dumb. Then you haven't played on the hardest setting, this game is unrelenting. There is no forgiving aim assist online like in COD and BF4 and maybe that's why you don't like it.

I see it all the time, people can't get good at the game so they disregard it as bad, they hate on it and praise a broken game (like BF4) to be something far better than it. Honestly I wouldn't compare the two personally as they both feel completely different in sense of handling and gun weight.

Must suck that you cant take an LMG and run around the map as fast as someone with an AR.

Nobody is saying the single player is amazing, it's average but the multiplayer is great and fun. The game has the best graphics and the game works and does what it says on the tin which compared to the rest of the launch games which are broken or poor has got to make killzone shadow fall the best launch game by default.

I have completed the game on its hardest setting. Because the game was unrelenting doesn't mean the A.I is good. The A.I is terrible and its only unrelenting because the game has a tendency to throw hordes of constantly spawning enemies at you. And it doesn't just happen at the final encounter. What about the mission where you're protecting the Helghan chick working the console whilst enemies constantly spawn in the same pattern over and over and over until you send out the OWL to disable the console. This is not fun.

I've played every single Killzone as well since the first one. Why would he be considered a vet over anyone else who has played it.

EVERYTHING you are saying and he is saying, just like I am saying.

It is all opinion based. The game was not easy by any merit, I played BF4 more than Killzone or COD, and yes the Single player in Killzone is far and above Battlefield (which is nothing but the same mission over and over again)

I had over 123 people watching my livestream of killzone and everyone loved the entire playthrough. I'll take my personal experience and give people my opinion just like you are doing now.

If anyone is having issues with aiming you could adjust both VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL sensitivities

Mine are set to 20% Vertical and 70% horizontal.

This will give you a far better experience then doing 50/50.

Back on topic though. Uninspired maps? What did you want exactly? You are also getting all the DLC besides co-op for free.

3 classes? Really what more do you need. I dont know many people who don't use mor than one gun in any type of MP game. especially BF4 and COD

BF3 was all about the M16

Black Ops II was all about the MSMC

BF4 seems to be the ACE 23

So don't sit here and try to defend the fact that there aren't as many classes or guns as that seems pretty irrelevant.

Killzone has its loyal fanbase, They aren't COD and they aren't Battlefield status, and I am okay with that.

I beat each of them multiple times and played it online religiously on PS3.

Not at all mate. It is very relevant and I appreciate the time you took to give a detailed opinion unlike the Springheeled chap who doesn't know whether he's coming or going.

Proper maps. I don't understand how any of these maps are fun to play. Take Forest as another example. It's so small, the map should be called 'garden' instead.

Oh and to combine this with my point about classes, if you pick the sniper class and pick the teleport ability, just use that on Forest. The map is so small that many a time you get teleported right outside the enemy spawn.

So apart from spawn camping in Forest, there is only one real area of engagement- the middle where players get funnelled down an area with a couple of towers (that no one hardly goes to cause you tend to get fragged anyway).

I have no issues with the aiming or mechanics of the game.

Oh and there is hardly any team work (although this is a criticism that can be levied against players and not the game).

If people are enjoying the game then fair play, but I for one do not think this game deserves any where near the sales it has got. I just think its a average at best game, launch or not.

Er I haven't found that at all. How is it all about that gun? Play conquest and the gun you use is irrelevant, its all about the strategy and how you employ the vehicles. I have been killed by a multitude of different weapons and I have used a lot too. The game really does encourage you using different classes.

SAY WHAT???? Added abilities like spawn points added??? WOW!! i didn't see that.
But let's compare abilities and classes:

Killzone2:
Rifleman: The Rookie!
Engineer: Turret and Repair
Medic: Revive and Health pack
Scout: Cloak and Spot n Mark
Assault: Extra Armor and running fast
Tactician: Spawn grenade and air support
Saboteur: Disguise and C4 grenade.

Killzone 2 had clans, squads, more missions.

Killzone 3:
Medic class: revive and medi drone
Infiltrator: disguise and survivalist (running fast)
Tactician: Can capture spawn areas, spots and marks ennemies and uses air support
Engineer: Repairs everything and turret
Marksman: Cloak suit and scramble

in Killzone 3 everyone can use C4, in KZ2 you can use every other ability when you reach general skill rank.
Let's not talk about badges from KZ2 and KZ3 like faster reload, silent footsteps, precision aim, extra ammo, extra armor...

Where is infiltrator disguise ability in Shadow Fall? Why can't the turrets spin 360° 30 years later?

Where is Co-op?
Where is voice chat?

The classes is where you are talking crap and lie. Less classes does mean the game was rushed, if you did any research you would know they lowered the classes on purpose not because they didn't have enough time. All the abilities are still there and even more added but fitted into 3classes instead of 5, so fat from rushed.

Party chat is a system feature. But hold on a minute, if you're in party chat, the game doesn't even highlight your friend on the map in the game. Oh but wait, GG are going to update it and add this basic feature later on. Not rushed right?

Anyway, I have mentioned in detail about the game's shortcomings. To summarise:

1) Weapons: Unimaginative and lacking. Your usual bevy of assault rifles, one hit kill sniper rifles, massive gattling gun are nothing worth shouting about

2) Maps- they just don't cut it. Encounters end up being the same over and over. Park, you spawn camp, Forest, you spawn camp, Ruin, a glorified corridor (but probably one of the better maps).

3) Classes- 3 classes just aren't enough. They don't add enough variety in a game like this.

But you know what, I don't want to ruin anyone's enjoyment of the game. Clearly some of you are enjoying it and fair enough. I apologise if I seem over-bearing in my assessment of the game. I understand how annoying it can be when someone is critical of a game you enjoy and incessantly plays it down (look at the_infected's sad attempt to downplay Forza 5). But I just think that the double standards of people on here need to brought to attention.

Either you have no idea how different KZ and BF are, or you're trying waaaay too hard.

What is it you do not get with the class system, just because they have reduced the amount of classes doesn't mean they have taken away abilities, they are all there like medic but put into support class.

The classes have more guns and attachments to choose from, c4,land tripmines,granades,emp granades. More abilities compared to other killzones and new ones like teleport, shield, zipwire, stun, mobile ammo crate etc plus all upgradable so how can you say it's a unfinished game is beyond me. Then there is spotlight moves and challenges.

But you ignore all that and just cry how COD is better than it lol which gave you away as just being a hater.

If you are being spawn camped then use mobile spawn points even tho they are multi outlets and the spawn points have their own turrets i fail to see how every single game you are being spawn camped, i haven't come across once but no doubt it does happen just not to the extent you make out.

Like i said i give you voice chat, not that i wanna here People's music or talking with their mates during a game so i prefer party chat in games.

You are really arguing with yourself, nobody is saying this is the best game ever or even the best kz. You are just hurt and angry at a perceived wrong that killzone is getting good sales, why? The game works and looks great which is alot compared to the rest of the launch games. No true gamer who is impartial would hate on a game for selling well. Im glad your kind is a minority.

Pertaining to Killzone though. I have to agree it doesn't really deserve all the praise it has, and you can refer to the points made throughout this argument. Anybody who isnt a blind fanboy can see the faults of this game, and review scores showed it too. The story is really lacking and the multiplayer is mediocre at best.

KZ:SF trys to run with the big boys, but ultimately fails to do so. For those of us with a PS4... at least we can all wait for uncharted!

You try way too hard to convince ppl BF4 is the greatest shooter ever. I think its not that KZSF is garbage, just that you nuthug BF4 to no end. Even as far as saying BF4 SP is "memorable." Click any given review to see tha no one agrees with you. Then you wanna drag down KZ SP to fit your argument. Is KZ SP comparable to TLOU? No, but amongst the shooters out now, it is. KZ has always had a pretty good story. Hell, I buy KZ for the SP.

For someone who is a so-called KZ fan, who awkwardly comes to defend Septics point when called upon, you quickly forget GG releases free DLC. GG has already stated GG will release maps, modes, weapons based on community feedback, for FREE. So, if you never see game modes you like, then I guess the community doesnt agree with you. Besides, creating your own game type is very fun. Yiu two sadly, seem to only want to hate the game. Its fine, but take a step back for a second. Septic, do you think your try-hard seems genuine to anyone? Your embarrassing yourself, who are you realky trying to convince?

And you talk about DLC... why should i care about DLCs? i buy the game i want it to be at least as good as what i know already.
There are no maps for snipers, the maps themselves are TOO small.
Does Pyrrhus Rise tell you anything?? Why are they suddenly saying that the marksmen maps are coming? did they forget to put them in the disc? or Bluray isn't big enough for it?? Don't you think that's the reason why the DLC is FREE??

Sorry but compare Multiplayer of KZ3 and Shadow Fall, the last one is put to shame.
I LOVED so much playing through Operations Mode with my friends, that mode was so good. Where is it???
I also HATE the search and destroy mission in the new one, why is it 1 target at the time?? Makes it both TOO EASY or TOO HARD cause as a defender you should only protect one of them and you win.

i am ready to forgive them because i really like this series if the DLC brings back the fun.
happy they did well, i just hope they realize they have a solid fan base that they should keep happy.

Yeah even though we could barely sleep when the game was relesed...waited in the cold till 2am at midnight launch, and played the game, tried to give it a chance but found it lived way too short of our expectations.

Let me just say that you lot on here are ridiculous. Apparently, almost all the reviewers of the game were completely wrong, its a giant conspiracy and you lot know best right? Killzone:SF deserves those sales and GG can rest assured that if they released a glorified tech demo, strip content and then rely on subsequent patches (Or DLC) they can continue to enjoy that success. But on the flipside, lets berate Forza for being an incomplete game that happens to be the most complete launch racer ever made. Right.

Who gets a free pass?? Ghosts and the cod series is being blamed for single handedly destroying gaming, and there are so many bf4 bug issue articles out, to me that does not sound like a free pass.

@above, with all bf4's shortcomings its still better then ks:sf in my opinion. Ghosts is utter trash.

I haven't got KZ:SF but i have played KZ2, KZ3 and the online was solid without any issue so I know multiplayer will be fine from bugs.
